To travel between Copenhagen and Karlskrona, you typically take a single train. With my luck, there was track maintenance taking place the weekend that I was travelling to Karlskrona. Instead of a direct train, the idea was to do the train from Copenhagen to Lund, a bus from Lund to Hassleholm, and a train from Hassleholm to Karlskrona.
As a first-time traveller on a train in both Denmark and Sweden, this track maintenance added 1.5 hours more to my travel plans. Oh, yay!
The unexpected part of my trip was that I needed to get off the train from Malmo and take the purple train to get to Lund Central. The purple train stops at every stop, so it adds a bit of travel time.
I did like Lund station for the brief period that I was there. I got off the train and found the elevator to get up to the main platform. Thank goodness there was an elevator!
I found the bus that I needed to Hassleholm fine. Everything was clearly displayed. The downside to the bus ride is that it took 1 hour and 40 minutes instead of the posted 1 hour and 10 minutes. Needless to say, I missed my intended train, but caught the next one without a hitch.
On any Oresundstag train or bus, you do need to present proof that you have purchased a ticket. Checks are thorough and you don't want to be fined.
I liked the look of Lund. You see how cute and quaint it is from the train station. I flagged Lund as a place that I would love to visit when I am back there.
