You can tell the that Chef Pierre is truly passionate about what he does and the flavors are out of this world. There's a reason they were on Yelp's list of Black-owned Businesses to Watch a few years back! I'm not even a big fan of chicken & waffles, but let me tell you -- these are the best I've ever had. The chicken is cooked perfectly crispy and their 4 cheesy-herb waffles are amazing. You also don't want to miss the Steak 'N Steak Sandwich (seasoned steak, peppers, pepper jack cheese, pickled onions, tomato, arugula, pesto aioli, and garlic butter on a hoagie bun). This was the winner for me. They also specialize in urban tacos, burritos, and BYO burgers. Just look at how delicious all their food photos look... you won't be disappointed!

Super quality ingredients, sustainable and environmentally conscientious packaging (which is actually superior to conventional packaging), marketing that is quite honestly as funny as it is irreverent and a customer service culture than is well matched to the excellence this company demonstrates across the board. Last year I arranged for an elderly relative who is caregiver for two disabled adults to receive 12 meals per week. For the past year, FDM has had only one minor error (that was actually shipping related) which was remedied immediately and without question. The meals they offer are generally large enough for an adult to share for two meals in one. There are a variety of special dietary categories and all are gourmet level in their flavor and composition. No other ship to home meal resource can touch the value and exceptional quality of Fire Department Meals. Also, the shipping boxes are great and fully recyclable...but you will probably find multiple reasons to keep and reuse them for storage, etc.

There was just the perfect a hint of lavender so as not to overpower the dish. And so much bacon on top. These delivered. My favorite bite of the day. I also ordered the citrus beet salad. It was huge! They don't skimp on ingredients, and I loved that. There were so many clementines, beets, and blueberries that I was able to get something in each bite. The basil vinaigrette it was served with was so unique and delicious. My food came out quickly, fresh, and hot. The staff were so friendly. It's a family restaurant, and it feels that way. Cute, cozy, comfortable. Delicious food!

I'm a chicken tendie boy at heart so decided to give their Nugget Dinner a go. The food was healthy and tasty, especially their sweet potato fries! Crispy on the outside but nice and fluffy on the inside! But here's the problem...the potion size is just way too small. There's not nearly enough protein in the bowl to act as a post-gym workout meal and I was left still pretty hungry. It's really sad because the food was actually really good! The place also offers meal plans for people who are looking for that kinda thing. I thought the pricing and stuff were kinda confusing but the people there are pretty nice and I'm sure they would take the time to explain things better if meal planning is something that interests you. Ambiance and vibes were cool though, we liked the little outside area they had! We played a little bit of cornhole after we ate and had a lot of fun! But please, please, please Clean Eatz...add more chicken to the Nugget Dinner. The food is so good and I just want more of it! Until the portions get a little bigger or the prices drop a bit I'm not sure if I will be visiting anytime soon.

The woman at the desk was very friendly and I told her it was my first time I truly went in for the strawberry cake, but they didn't have it, but I still decided to try the butterscotch cake. I also got there five dollar plate on Wednesdays, which was turkey neck with gravy, rice and peas, and I got collard greens and a side of potato salad. The meal at first bite felt like something you'd get at home. The rice and peas had a coconut flavor which I really enjoyed. The collard greens was not greasy, It had turkey pieces inside of it. The turkey neck was cooked really well I just think because it was a bit of a smoked turkey. It had a bit more salt inside which I didn't mind because I'm not a big salt eater to begin with. The potato salad balanced out the saltines of the turkey neck, but my favorite thing was the cake. Once i opened It... it smelled honestly like childhood. It was moist. The icing was not overly sweet and it had the right amount of nuts inside of it. I will definitely be back to try other items from the menu.

Friends, this place is proof that compromise can be beautiful. Sweet meets spicy meets (meats?) savory. Every bite felt like someone dared a pitmaster and a pastry chef to create the ultimate brunch, and somehow they pulled it off. The only drawback? Ventilation. It's stuffy inside. Plan on smelling like a smoky glazed donut the rest of the day. PS. If anyone wants to bring this concept to KC, I'd like to be considered an early investor. Or at the very least, a highly enthusiastic taste tester. Holy hell. Brunch of champions.

Parking wasn't an issue either. As I walked in, I was greeted by who seemed to be the owner and a young woman. Very nice, lovely staff. Everyone was so sweet. My only issue was that they didn't have a good portion of their menu ready and it's mostly because they didn't have the gravy for their dishes. The ones we wanted came with gravy and the staff let us know they were behind on making it. So we pivoted and tried their prime rib smash burger but unfortunately that felt a little disappointing. For the price that it was, you'd think that you'd get a decently portioned burger or some sides with it but it was super tiny. And the bun felt like grocery bread, the type you can get for a home bbq. It was still delicious but rather disappointing at the same time. We ended up having to order a third dish just to feel satisfied and at least it was very good. The bowls are worth it, maybe not the burger but the bowls for sure! I also snagged up a donut and truthfully that is one of the best donuts I've ever had. Another downside to this spot and why I didn't give it a 4 star is because how slow the service was. We watched a whole family get up and leave because it was taking so long, I actually felt bad for the staff and owner. The place has great tasting food, just needs a little shaping up. Maybe someone who can run the kitchen as a head chef. Overall, I still recommend the place but just know that you'll be waiting a while and some things may not be available.
