From the beginning, communication was a nightmare. When I first called to schedule an appointment, I asked what I would pay for a typical PT visit. They collected all my insurance information, and I was told their insurance person was out and would get back to me the next day. She didn't. A week went by, and I still hadn't heard anything, so I had to call them myself. They still weren't sure what my cost would be. I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me, but they never did, so I had to keep calling for answers. On multiple separate occasions, I was verbally told my appointment would cost no more than $70. The day of my appointment, I called again and was told they needed my insurance information, despite already providing it. I gave it to them again and was told someone would get back to me shortly. Since my appointment was that day, I explained that I needed an answer within the hour so I could decide whether to attend. Again, no one called me back. As I was getting ready to leave, I called them myself for an update and was once again told the cost would be $70. I arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told at the front desk that my appointment had been canceled. When I asked why, considering I had spoken with someone less than 30 minutes earlier, no one could explain what happened. "Luckily," the physical therapist I was supposed to see still had availability, so they told me to go ahead with the appointment and complete the paperwork afterward. Because of their miscommunication, they weren't prepared for me until about five minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. While I waited, I could hear three front-desk employees discussing each other, other employees, and the office's lack of communication. It honestly explained everything. Before starting my appointment, I triple-checked that my cost would not be more than $70, and I was explicitly guaranteed that it would not be. I specifically asked multiple times because I wanted to be sure what I would be paying. The physical therapy appointment itself was fine. I have no complaints about the therapist personally. I left feeling relatively positive despite the chaos and even scheduled several additional weekly appointments. Then came the next week. Less than an hour before my second appointment, they called me. This was the only time throughout this entire process that the office proactively contacted me. The person handling insurance informed me that my appointments would actually cost $239.15. I was understandably furious. I explained that I had been told multiple separate times that my cost would be no more than $70. I tried very hard to resolve the situation and avoid having to pay the additional $169.15, but I was told there was no way around it. They weren't sure who had given me the incorrect information and said the issue was ultimately between me and my insurance. I understand that insurance is complicated and mistakes happen. What I don't understand is how I can provide my insurance information, repeatedly ask what I will owe, have to repeatedly call because they don't follow up, and then be verbally assured multiple times that my cost will be no more than $70--only to be told an hour before my next appointment that I owe an additional $169.15 for my previous appointment. I was also told that because I had signed the paperwork, I was responsible for the charge. The problem is that I signed the paperwork after my first appointment, after I had already been given the $70 estimate multiple times and proceeded based on that information. I ultimately paid the bill because I was told there was no other option, but I do not feel this was handled fairly. I tried very hard to avoid paying that amount and tried to resolve it with them, but they refused to take responsibility for repeatedly telling me my cost would not exceed $70. I canceled all my remaining appointments. The physical therapists may be good at what they do, but the administrative and customer service side of this office is incredibly poorly managed. The repeated misinformation, failure to follow up, constant need for me to call for answers, last-minute cancellation, and surprise bill were completely unacceptable. I genuinely feel bad for the therapists because the front office is doing them a huge disservice. Their communication and billing practices are turning away customers who otherwise may have continued treatment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone.

I initially met Dr. Sam Oltman while he was working at another clinic in Lake Oswego circa 2020…read more At the time, I was experiencing some gnarly forearm pain stemming from some lateral epicondylitis tendinitis that PT just couldn't fix. I met with Sam, and we worked on a recovery plan involving PRP. Within 8-10 week I was fully healed, lifting weights, doing pull-ups, living life like it never happened. I later went on to utilize the same approach on multiple other tendinopathy issues with Sam. Recently (Oct. 2025) I had a rotator cuff flare up and once again PT just wasn't cutting it for my recovery. I found out Dr. Sam had opened his own clinic, met with him, and he meticulously combed through my shoulder with the ultrasound device and we pinpointed some definite spots that needed some love. Within 30 minutes I was in and out-- and I couldn't even feel the pinch of the needle. Sam and Karla (front desk) are kind, thorough and I truly felt like they had my best interest at heart, and weren't just shoving treatment at me for a quick buck. Highly recommend if you're a weightlifter or someone in a physically demanding job field. Check them out.

This branch is fun as well as thorough. And I can now lift heavy boxes over my head which was totally out of the question before. Even with several health set backs (hospitalization, rapid unhealthy weight and muscle loss, new onset dizziness) they worked with me with all the new diagnosis and incorporated things to help with all of them. I wish I would have seen the previous review about this prior to becoming a (formerly) loyal customer. I was a years long Benchmark patient, and have gone to three different locations and seen several PTs. Recently, I took a break from PT, intending to resume in the Spring. However, that changed the other day when I received a collections notice out of the blue; I received no calls, no emails, no mention at my biweekly appointments, and no knowledge that I owe them anything beyond the fee I paid at every single visit over the years. I did receive EOBs from my insurance, and receipts for my visits which I became accustomed to recycling as I was under the impression I had paid in full each visit. I have now spent hours of my day going through my insurance claims over the last two years to review each date the collections noticed listed. In doing so, I realized they did not even credit the listed visits in collections with the amount I paid at each appointment. This business has received years of payments from me and my insurance company, yet once I took a pause on therapy, they silently sent me to collections on a balance owed I was not aware of; this will impact my credit, and the chance I will ever go to their business again, regardless of how great *some* of their PTs are. This time I'll look for a local non-franchised company to support, who does not have a corporate conglomerate drooling at the opportunity to sneakily stick it to their patients.

I am unclear on how no one has yet written a review for the Element Wellness & Sports Rehab clinic…read more I guess I'll go first... and you should keep reading, because if you notice other chiropractors in other cities I've reviewed, I only pick the best... I am a loyal and grateful patient, so there you have it, right there. I put my trust into Dr. Goodwill with ease. I was referred to him by another local chiropractic doctor whom I saw before, but he moved away. I am so lucky I got this referral because Element Wellness was right under my nose and I didn't know it. I am so ecstatic to have found them in the John's Landing building right around the street from my home. It's a big building and there are other chiropractors in the same building but on different floors, so be sure to choose wisely because only here will you receive true wellness and full body rehab. Aside from chiropractic treatments, they also have several physical therapists and massage therapists. As someone who lives in the towers directly right across from OHSU, I'll tell ya, it's still a wiser choice to go down the street to Element Wellness where their PTs have actually undergone more rigorous training. By far though, my favorite is Dr. Noah Goodwill. I have a finicky neck, and have had whiplash three times earlier in my life and still experience the occasional repercussions of it. For the most part I'm usually in good working order. I try to stay very, very active but sometimes putting my body through the ringer does cost me. When my neck "catches" and my tolerance is at a 10 on the pain scale, my first thought is always, please let me get in to see Dr. Goodwill, I can't go on without him. Gratefully, Brooke, Jenna, Jessica, and the whole administrative front-desk gang are always able to accommodate. Dr. Goodwill plays a key role too. When he knows one of his patients are in dire need of treatment for an acute injury he will skip his lunches, move things around and is there to help you. He never rushes his patients, he spends your whole appointment slot with you (if not more) and makes sure to pay attention to your whole body (after all, it's all connected). He cares soooooo much, even though he is super busy, he never lets that become an excuse, he makes time for you and wants to see you get better. (*sobbing tears of joy from the true RELIEF his spinal manipulations have brought me*) I am so thankful to have him treat me. My insurance covers a good bit, but he is so good I would keep going there even if they didn't; Dr. Goodwill is worth it! P.S. Not only does Element Wellness treat patient-athletes of all kinds, they're athletes themselves, so they really can put themselves in your shoes. Dr. Goodwill is actually a rock-star and also treats the Portland Timbers; he is the official team DC for the Timbers and the lady Thorns.... so yea, he's pretty awesome! P.P.S. You can park either in the open lot shared with Pier 1 on the front side of the building, or around back in the two story garage connected to the backside of the John's Landing building. The latter might be easier because the practice is on the first floor so if you park at ground level, you just walk right in pretty much. Oh yes, and it's free parking of course.
