Best salon in Saline!! Katie has been coloring and cutting my hair for a year and a half. She is the best in town. She takes the time to listen to what you want and does what is best for your hair. You usually have to schedule in advance to get an appointment but sometimes you can get a last minute appointment. Booking is better!! Ashley is best for eyebrows (and other waxing). Eyebrows are a little expensive ($17) but worth the money. I've had a few mani /pedis and I would say they're all good. My advice- always get shellac! On a recommendation from a friend I made an appointment with Tara at Luminosity. She was very friendly and warm and listened and seemed to understand what I wanted. I found her easy to work with and she gave me exactly what I asked for. She is not cheap but she took the time to give me the color and lift I wanted and that is worth its weight in gold--well, not gold, but those cool, beige, highlights of just the right tones I was seeking. She is also very good at a cut, going very gently from conservative to wherever you want to go. I highly recommend Tara at Luminosity, I was thrilled with her expertise at the chemistry of color and her ability to give me exactly what I wanted. I had gone a couple of times and was ok with the outcome, not over the top but it was ok. I loved the fact they use goldwell color. Long story short the stylist messed up she told me I could come back and she could add more blonde in a couple weeks and there would be no charge. So I made my apt for the redo because I was not happy and almost ended up paying $300 which was about double of any of my prior appointments. Luminosity hosted a Cut-a-Thon event for a local preschool and ALL money went to purchasing materials for the children. So, first of all, that's super awesome, amazing, and generous. Supporting the community is what ALL businesses should be doing - A+ for them, right away! But then, I sat in the stylist's chair. My last haircut was a mess and, quite frankly, I'm not a very decisive person when it comes to my appearance, so I was a challenging customer. Luis took the challenge and absolutely ran with it. He put a little washout color in my hair for fun and gave me an AMAZING cut. I was SO HAPPY with the result! A great business with great people! The salon itself is clean, well-kept, and super nice. I went here back in March and Aaron took great care of me. I wanted ashy highlights and it was fine perfectly. Being the procrastinator that I am I tried to get my highlights touched up 2 weeks ago but it was prom weekend everywhere so they couldn't get me in, they were booked. Made the biggest mistake and went somewhere else. The lady at the other place I could get into torched my hair to the point of no return. I came back and Louis took care of me this time. I am so pleased with my lilac/purple dimension that I'm writing my first Yelp review I have been going to Luminosity stylists for years but am so pleased with my purple color that I had to share. I was going for a lilac and dark purple look while retaining some blonde so it would fade nicely into a soft purple and retain dimension the entire time. To achieve this look, we went platinum using foils instead of all over color and then used three colors of purple foils so we could have nice vibrant color while retaining some blonde. My hair was previously highlighted and is quite fine/easily damaged- they achieved platinum perfectly and a week+ later, my hair feels just as soft and healthy as it did before the processing. I am washing it less frequently to keep the purple vibrant as long as possible, but look forward to seeing how it fades to a soft lilac. I am so pleased - just love the color! Thanks, Luis, you're a pro. Heather is also absolutely fantastic. I suggest both stylists very highly. I've been dying my hair for years and it wasn't until a friend recommended Luis that I was truly happy with my hair: it is the perfect golden blonde (not brassy!). He truly has a gift for the perfect blonde- and as blondes know, there are many different shades of blonde, so this is not a small feat! I get so many compliments on my hair. If you're a blonde, or want to be, I highly recommend Luis! He is also very accommodating of my schedule, which is highly unpredictable and has made hair appointments quite challenging with past salons. I had been using the Aveda salons in Ann Arbor, but was disappointed with inconsistencies and less than ideal results on several occasions. I headed to Luminosity for a cut and color after reading other Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed with the service. I've been coming here for 2 years now, and have always loved the results. From blonde and highlights to with a shorter bob, to chocolate brown with long layers, my hair always looks healthy, shiny and full of body. Even if they are running behind, which I understand happens, I'm never rushed and always feel like my stylist takes the time to give me the best service. I have received several compliments on my color and style. I've been back once and received the same great service. It can get a bit noisy and crowded, but I highly recommend this salon! I've since come to learn that some of the people I see around town who I've thought to myself had nice healthy hair with a great cut and style have their hair done here too. I never feel pressured to buy product, but I usually do, and have not been disappointed with the quality and usefulness of their suggested items. I highly recommend this salon! read more

It was a horrible cut, my layers weren't blend at all and it looked like I had a mullet. I have been having my hair colored and cut by Tara for well over 12 years and she is absolutely amazing. My color is always perfect and the trims/cuts always what I want. My daughter's first hair cut was with Tara and my daughter is now 23 and still goes to Tara for her cut and color! My son went to Tara all through middle school, high school and college! He now lives out of state but has never found a new stylist! She is the best. If you are blonde and can't get in with Tara, then please try Larissa or Diana, they both are wonderful! Diana also gives the best manicures! Anyway, this is by far the best salon in Washtenaw county! I would highly recommend it! It may seem pricy, but you totally get what you pay for and they also take debit or credit cards unlike salons in LA or NY who require "cash only" payments for services. I have had a long history of dying my hair, and I definitely love to try new colors. This past October I decided I wanted purple hair underneath, with my natural brown on top. After a disastrous color job at a different salon, I went somewhere else to have it fixed. It was a decent job, but I felt that there still wasn't enough purple for my liking. I made the HORRIBLE choice to bleach my hair at home myself, so that I could achieve the purple I wanted. I think I bleached my hair about 3 times (I have dark brown hair) in order to get the purple to stay. The color wouldn't hold, so eventually I just let it go. My hair became so damaged, dry and unhealthy. I let it go until a week ago, because I never had the time to go to a salon and get it fixed. Finally it became unbearable, so my mom and I walked into Luminosity hoping to get our hair cut. Aaron was my stylist that day, and he is a miracle worker!!! It took a permanent color, a toner, and a semi permanent hair color, but now, my hair is all one color, and you can't even tell there was blonde :)) he even trimmed it enough that the ends are healthier (without taking off my length, since my hair takes forever to grow). Salon Luminosity is amazing! I am very picky about who cuts and styles my hair, but after reading the great reviews about Luminosity, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Luis did an outstanding job and I am more than pleased with the cut and style that he did for me. Several months ago, my naturally curly hair was ruined by a harsh brazilian blowout at another salon and I told Luis that all I wanted was my curly hair back. He gave my hair some much needed TLC and an amazing cut that brought the bounce back into my curls! My hair stylist did a very bad job on my hair yesterday. I asked her to blend my new growth with my blond hair which was darker in the back. She mixed the dye and put in some foils and then left me in the back of the salon about an hour-never checking on me or my hair. Then she came to wash my hair but she never checked on the color! I said every stylist rubs some color off and makes sure it is done to a good color, but she told me she knows without looking! So now my hair is a brassy gold and it is still dark in the back! I also explained that I lived in AZ and it gets so hot that I just use 1 pin to hold it up and off my face. I had my glasses off so I didn't know she cut a 3-4" fringe across the front until I brushed it at home. This will take a long time to grow! It is already bothering me and all I could do last night was to use small bobby pins to hold it off my face. I am sorry I went to this salon thinking they would know how to color and cut hair but I could have done a better job at home! read more

I love Luminosity Salon!!! I recently moved to the area and was in search of a new hair dresser. I had been going to the same person for years and was so nervous about trying out a new place. My visit to Luminosity was nothing less than amazing! I made my appointment with Luis, and from the very start I felt like he knew exactly what I wanted. I showed him a picture of an idea I had for a color and cut and he took my vision even further. I can honestly say it was the first time I have walked out of a salon being fully satisfied with the entire experience everything was perfect. I will say the salon seems to be very busy, so it is important to schedule an appointment a week or so before you would like to go in. However Luis was amazing with time management, he really cares about his clients and strives to do his best job every time. He had an idea for my hair that day that was going to take much longer than my scheduled appointment time, but he wasn't going to walk away from the challenge. With a little switching off between clients while the dye was setting he was able to complete his vision and mine! I am so thankful I found this salon and stylist!
