The line went by the prop station and then you could get drinks and snacks for the show if you wanted. The concessions were extremely reasonable as well. I hope they don't change that. The show/ experience was fun but the acoustics aren't great so when people are saying stuff in the theater as part of the show we couldn't really hear. Otherwise, fun night out. Numerous round tables were set up for buffet style snacking and more tables were available for seating. There was plenty of room to kill around the room and chat, without feeling crowded. Bathrooms were clean and nice! I would definitely host an event at this facility! The one downfall is that the air conditioning was not functioning well, most of us were sweating throughout the shower. We kept turning the thermostat down but it didn't get any cooler and stayed around 80 degrees. Other than the heat, we had a great time!

Visiting the Belle Mont Mansion was the highlight of my trip South. Built somewhere around 1828 for…read morea Dr. Alexander Williams Mitchell, the mansion has both 'Jeffersonian' and 'Palladian' design. It is definitely not like some of the plantation houses you see on 'Gone With The Wind' but it is still a handsome home made with hand-made brick, original wood floors and marble fireplaces. It has been under restoration for some time now as it sat empty for 30 years. Vandals had taken much of its original stair risers and marble mantel pieces as well. Over $335,000 has been spent so far to restore it to its former splendor. I came with my mom today as it was their annual 'Old Time' Christmas party, where volunteers and historians dress up in clothing of the 1860's. There were many women in hoop skirts walking around, eager to tell us the history of the place. I have read it was haunted by the family who bought the place from Dr. Mitchell, The Winston's. The husband, Isaac, died here in 1863 and his wife Catherine died here 20 years later. Upon looking at the picture I took of her portrait, I found an orb to the right of the painting. I didn't use a flash and no one was around me at the time. But the strangest experience happened soon after my arrival in the entrance salon. There was a large Christmas tree standing over in the corner, festooned with original, antique Christmas ornaments. One of the volunteers was explaining how a Mrs. Burke made these ornaments by hand. Just as she mentioned her name, an Christmas ball fell from the tree and rolled to within an inch of where I was standing. :Hello Mrs. Burke!" I said. FOr $6.00 per person, we got an in depth tour, wonderful refreshments, a choral group singing carols, musicians and ballroom dancing! I also reacquainted myself with the curator/guide from Helen Keller's home, Elizabeth Hargrove. She remembered our visit this past April! A most rewarding experience..Belle Mont is open for tours Thur.-Sat. 8 am-4pm and Sun. 1-5pm. If you're ever around Tuscumbia, please check this beautiful home out.

It is also 2 blocks from the County Courthouse so that was a plus. I was after midnight getting into town but they texted me a front door and room entry code and Wi-Fi instructions. It was extremely quiet, in fact I never saw another person and believe that I was the only person there or even on the entire block that night. Nice sitting room and comfortable bed, plenty of big fluffy clean towels and a great shower. I had no problem getting on the internet for my last minute early morning trial prep work and there was a fully stocked Keurig station in the hallway outside my room. Good place to relax and prep before heading to court. I only wish that I could have stayed another night to eat at Doe's Eat Place downstairs.

This location is the W. C. HANDY BIRTHPLACE, MUSEUM & LIBRARY…read more http://www.visitflorenceal.com/things_to_do/w-c-handy-birthplace-museum-library/ As a fan of blues music, I had no idea about the full history. W C Handy is the "father" of Blues, not only for being the first for including the name Blues in the title of a composition, but also for writing 5 book on the the history of Blues music. Without him, much of early blues history would be lost. The museum is attached to the cabin in which he was born (decorated with period pieces not original to the cabin before it was moved.) For music lovers who understand how blues has influenced later musical forms, I think this is a great place to visit. It is a very small museum, but has a lot of memorabilia from Handy's life, and many donated items.
