For two weeks, you can try 7 classes for 77 CHF, which came out to like 98 USD for fellow visiting Americans lol. I made sure to take full advantage and do all 7 classes. Taking 3-4 classes per week for two weeks is kinda a lot, so much sure to plan accordingly! All the classes I tried were fun, great instructors, and pretty dang challenging lol. Now I know what they meant by Balboa is a "training culture" - they're serious about their fitness! I started out easy with a stretching class by Irina. I felt great after, and I'm pretty flexible so it was just what I needed after having flown internationally. Then, I did the Yoga Beats class with Michelle - twice! It's super fun. She's super sweet - make sure you don't put your hands on your stomach during savasana if you're open to a light massage/touch! I also tried Energía (fun), Kadio (I died), Booty (mine could not handle it hahaha), and Kettlebell Skills class (super fun yet challening, loved!). Tom stood out to me as a fun trainer. Overall, I highly recommend trying the starter kit to get fit and feel strong. I miss this place!

If you take an annual plan you have 5 coaching of an hour that you get for free. They really help you very well and professional. You have 2 changing room for men and 1 for women. Up on the second floor you have a relaxation zone. There is a swimming pool with jets, deck chairs around the pool, a Kneipp stone pad, relaxing booths (with daily newspapers and magazines), 2 sauna`s + a seperate sauna for women, hammam, showers, small cold bath and a meditation room. On the same floor you also have tanning studios, but for this one you have to pay. It is approx. 1,70 Sfr per min. You can also book a massage. Different kinds of massages. The Relaxation zone gets very crowded at sundays afternoon.

Other than the classes not being that hard, the cycle room wasn't up to the caliber of other high end studios for the price.

However, as I heard many friends racing about Soulcycle and other similar cycling classes I decided to try out Velocity during a rare health kick. I was a bit intimidated at first because most people looked like they just walked out of a Lululemon catalog but WOW! This class is amazing, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and even though I wanted to give up every two seconds somehow the teacher managed to convince me to push through for 50 mins. I know I shouldn't but I love the fact that all classes are given in flawless English! Also, not only the locker/changing/bathroom are squeaky clean (which is a must for me), they offer super nice toiletries in the showers. You just get my impressions on how I experienced my first yoga lessons at the Sleepy Yogi Studio. My yoga instructor is Christina and I think I could not have chosen better. I guess to start with yoga is not an easy thing, as with all new things it needs a bit of self-discipline, but Christina makes it easy for you to dive into the world of yoga. She explains and demonstrates all the exercises (asanas, breath, meditation, etc) carefully, corrects gently postures where needed, which muscles are used, how it should feel, and when to be cautious with more demanding exercises to avoid any strains. Don't get misleaded by the Sleepy Yogi in the name, the exercises are anything else than sleepy, at least for me! The studio itself is located in a nice round building and offers two rooms, one for the yoga and one changing room, both with wooden floors. In short: a boutique kind of a yoga studio. Enjoy!
