I had an epidural cortisone shot back then with the spine institute, and it worked so well, but I had major billing issues and ended up having to pay a lot of money out of pocket. Dr. Gay's office was diligent in insuring that my insurance would cover both my office visit and my shot with them so I never had to worry about the financial side. I was nervous about my cortisone shot with a new doctor because Dr. Gay did not have it at a surgery center the way the spine institute did, however, I could not be happier with the process. Not only was it quick and easy, it was not really painful, and once I saw the room and the assistant, I felt completely comfortable with the process and with Dr. Gay. Within 24 hours I experienced substantial pain relief, and after going through 4 weeks of dibilitating pain, I almost cried with relief when I woke up the next morning and could get out of bed without assistance. Dr. Gay did set proper expectations that physical rehabilitation would be necessary to maintain the pain relief and fully recover, and immediately sent a referral to a place that was in network who I received a call from the very next day. I am so happy that I went in to see Dr. Gay, and I will continue to use him as my pain relief provider in the future (hopefully for not much longer). The only negative thing I can say is that he is very busy and it can take a while to get in to see him, which when you are in so much pain can feel like forever.

I had my 7th child and ended up with serious lower back and buttocks pain. I did not seek help from…read morea doctor until my Psychologist recommended it.  I did not know where the pain originated from. I was unsure if I had slipped, fallen or any of the above because I had a newborn baby, a 1 1/2 year old along with 7 children.  I did not notice the pain until a couple month after my daughter was born.  The pain overtime started increasing and shot down my legs and into my feet.  My feet felt number at times and pain.  The pain was so bad that I would drive a short distance and would almost fall out of the car.  I have seen doctors, primary care doctors who did not understand how this could have occurred and basically made me feel like I was lying.  I was referred and went through physical therapy which still did not help.  I also on my own without a referral went to a chiropractor.  The chiropractor did explain that pregnancies after a while can cause issues that I was experiencing with back and buttocks.  With the doctors, I also had to demand an x-ray: no results and MRI: which had some results but the doctor minimized my pain.  I was prescribed ibuprofen which did not help but doctors were unsure of my psych medications and pain medications. During this time, I had asked to work with my psych doctor or send me to a pain management clinic because I was to the point of crawling up the stairs and in tears.  I barely could work at my sit down job.  I had to purchase an ergonomic desktop for my desk.    I could barely sleep.   The pain did not subside and I was miserable.  I felt increased anxiety, increased depression and barely could interact at my job, at home or with my husband.  After a year, yes I said a whole year, the doctor said I am sorry I should have done this earlier and he ended up referring me to a pain management clinic i.e.  Algone Pain Clinic. The doctor also said my condition was out of the box.   I instantly was observed by Dr. Nichelle C. Renk who immediately believed me and took action.  She mixed a pain management remedy that included natural medications along with pain medications.  She realized I was hyperflexive which is part of pain causes such as mine.  She gave me support groups with people with similar pain issues.  She also gave me a steroid shot which instantly made my pain in my legs and feet.  She listened and actually spent time with me.  She was not like normal doctors where you feel rushed out of the office like an assembly line.  She sat there and made sure I understood everything and explained procedures in great depth.  She also explained the support groups, the natural medications and so on.  Her quick reaction and believing in me and my pain--she was able to burn my nerves on both sides and relieve my pain instantly.   She is a wonderful doctor who is passionate and cares about her patients.  I would recommend her to anyone.  I hope you take a chance to meet her and see how your pain is relieved.  Thank you Dr. Nichelle for making my daily life and activities better.   Christel Brito

BEWARE!!! Peggy is the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with! I tried to obtain my…read moremedical records to transfer care, and she said I needed to pay a balance. The amount is estimated because they didn't even bill by insurance carrier, yet! They refused to provide records to my new provider as well as to myself. Peggy swore that the amount is what I will owe, even though I assured her that my insurance policy will pay 100% of the charges. The reasonable thing to do would be to ensure that my medical records were shared with my new provider to facilitate the transfer of care. They need to handle billing in a timelier manner rather than do it all at once at discharge. After all, that professional courtesy would be necessary in transferring care, as records are an integral part of this process. Beware! Make sure they bill your insurance carrier after every visit. That way, they can keep an accurate and up-to-date account balance and prevent this issue in the future. If you are an Anchorage resident, you will be limited to appointments only on Wednesday. You will be subject to extraordinary level of scrutiny by Colleen and Peggy. Dr. Jaconette is reasonable and very easy to talk to. He will take great care of you until you piss of the nurse. Then, it's over. HAHA Dr. Jaconette even wanted to "take it outside" when I came to the office to pay my estimated bill and pick-up my records. This encounter occurred after the discussion became heated between Peggy and I. Of course, the entire conversation between Peggy, Colleen, and Dr. Jaconette was recorded on my iPhone. If you want to hear it, let me know. You'll be surprised by how unprofessional they were! My…read moreobservations are these: *Having been involved in medical records for a number of years I know it can take time for an office with a limited staff to process requests and to move at the same speed as a larger operation. However, I have never had them ask for me to settle my balance when I have asked for any documentation of any sort. Also I sort of like the less is more approach in their Wasilla office as I know it keeps their overhead down and lets them control costs. *Peggy is the nurse for procedures and until lately I think she has been pretty much the coder, biller, chief cook and bottle washer. I have no doubt she has been stretched thin in the past. That can make for difficult days so I am willing to cut her slack. Her involvement in my procedures and my wife's procedures has been extremely compassionate and she is obviously a pro. I trust her explicitly with my most precious thing in this world, my wife. *Her role often times makes her come off as the bad guy because she is maintaining control of medication in accordance with the moving target of Drug Enforcement. It is a thankless job. Such scrutiny is necessary for her to protect the business thereby insuring their patients have a provider to see. She is tough but fair. * Of course Dr. Jaconett is reasonable and the good guy. He separates himself (somehow) during treatment from the finances of his operation. Peggy takes that on which is where most of the conflict comes for a patient. He too is the penultimate professional and would do anything reasonable and lawful to help us. I wish he could be cloned into a mechanic, lawyer, counselor, etc. Then I would know that I was getting a truthful answers and quality service! Going on four years now I can say they have been great. The providers are great to work with and they enjoy teaching their staff new things as they believe that the more everyone knows the better the office will run. I would definitely agree! Having people cross trained allows for information to get to the patients more easily as anyone can answer their questions. The work environment is great. I have received no help with pain and I hope the shot will relieve some of the pain: I cannot walk. The intake personnel/admin appear to care less about my condition. I have had previous pain clinic care and this clinic offered no help with lidocaine patches, ten units or any offer to help with the pain until I received the steroid shot, which may or may not help. As a senior, I feel very dismissed and their care does seem callous.

They waited just past 3yrs for her to retire and patients to be unable to easily transition back to their previous provider to tell the patients that their plan of care would be changing vastly once she left the practice. I wish i could just say they don't care about their patients and if it was just that alone, I'd be resolute in the fact that it's better that we separated to go our separate ways. HOWEVER, that's not the only issue here, it apparently the office manager has taken it upon herself to breach hipaa laws and patient privacy because she's sharing with other pain management specialists her "unprofessional opinion" on specific patients and whether she feels they're a "problem patient or not" even when there's no documentation in file to suggest otherwise. So in the very near future a lawsuit is likely to follow, and from the similarities other patients have shared ... it might end up being a class action suit. It takes a lot of gaul and moral irresponsibility to speak on people who don't have an active ROI... Recently 3 of 5 pain management clinics have been refusing to serve this patient after having just stated they have openings and accept the insurance. They enquired about previous pain doctors and Alpenglow was only named, but no ROI or paperwork was completed to give a reason for them to come back ready to run in the opposite direction, unwilling to do procedures or medications. So far two have employees willing to admit that negative comments that were shared... so there's that... When you see this clinic, don't just walk in the opposite direction, RUN! Because when it's good, it's fine, but the moment there is a problem, it becomes nasty quick. And the unethical behaviors we've experienced are astounding, and seem to target patients who have an emotional response to bad news, ex. start crying, or try explaining through tears the situation they're facing in their plan of care, or whether they feel supported or not. The other targets are people who refused to take medications prescribed to them that had adverse physical effects. Before you know it, you're looking for a new provider and that's about the only thing i can appreciate is that the people who have terminated or been terminated are at least lucky to be out of there with a better chance for responsible care.

If you go there for anything and you are injected with contrast be very careful there is no doctor on site if you have a reaction and if bad enough will be dead by the time EMS arrives. The techs are to decide which exam to do regardless of what the ordering doctor has ordered. Most places leave this up to the radiologist. I am not saying go there or don't go there but it's the patients right to know what they are walking into.
