The staff was rude and while one person ordered the special of the day that was said to include a dish plus drink for a set price, we were charged for the drink separate. We were then told that it is because you have to order the food and drink at the same time, not when they ask you what drink you want as soon as you sit down and don't know about the special yet and later are asked what dish you would like. More than half of the menu has been cut leaving only a handful of dishes which seemed to be mainly pork. The menu wasn't that big to begin with before but at least had a bit of variety. The food that I got was overcooked and partially burnt with dry and chewy pork, mushy vegetables, and potatoes swimming in a sea of butter which couldn't even be eaten with a fork as they were so overcooked they just crumbled. Even their Zwickelbier seems to be lacking in quality anymore. Well, at least knowing all of this now saves me a trip across town.

The buffet is located in the middle of the restaurant, big groups are set in the back room, and small groups are in the front. I got the Saftig gegrilltes Spanferkel (juicy suckling pig) and Sächsischer Sauerbraten (Saxony Saurbraten - like a slow cooked beef). Both dishes came with a specified cabbage side, and potato ball. The juicy pig was definitely the better of the two and included slices of the crispy skin, and fatty insides. In the end, there was too much food for us to finish. Cute decor, but as with most tourist traps - not really worth the price.

Everything was incredibly delicious, well plated and well executed! Lots of the ingredients were fairly unique and not stuff that one would commonly see in the US. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for good seafood in Dresden. In particular, they offer a number of high quality freshwater fish which are difficult to find in other places, like zander. Definitely do keep in mind that this place serves rather large portions (it's a good thing!) -- we finished everything but I was definitely really stuffed by the end. The restaurant is easily reachable by tram and one good idea is to first take a walk around the Grand Garden in Dresden and then head to dinner at Schwindts. (There is a park behind the beer garden, so the overall vibe is super chill.) As for the food and drink, they exceeded our expectations. After having eaten out a lot over a two-week trip, the food here was much better than most of the places we visited in Germany. The pasta my daughter had was great -- lots of fresh veggies mixed in and it was her most memorable dish the entire two weeks. I had the white asparagus with a schnitzel and could not have been happier -- the asparagus and hollandaise sauce was outstanding, and the schnitzel one of the better I had all trip. As for the service, the folks who helped us were polite, funny and cool. I highly recommend this establishment. So glad we found it. Highly, highly recommended!!

It was a good price at roughly 8 euros. I asked for a side of sauerkraut and the waiter said of course. When I got the bill the sauerkraut was 5 euros. The pretzel arrived early and it was delicious and I dipped it into my sweet mustard. The white sausages arrived later in a bowl of boiling hot water. I just picked it out and placed it on my plate and then threw the other sausage back into the boiling water to keep it warm. The white sausage is a very little taste with specks of green running through it. It is a "light" gentle sausage. The sauerkraut was delicious! The dish needed a veggie and I am glad that I ordered it. The gentle sausage with the cabbage and tang and sweetness played perfectly together. Beer: They had 4 beers on tap.
