    Amazing buffet

This lounge is utterly amazing! It has all the facilities you need (including a Passport Control window inside) and they are all extremely clean and fancy. Their service is also over the top. Of course, their food and drinks are beyond excellent both in terms of the selection and the quality. ACCESS I was traveling with friends who were flying first class and they gave me access to this lounge. We were told each first class passenger can bring in one guest. COMPARISON We used the Star Alliance First Class Lounge in Los Angeles (LAX) before flying into Munich. If I compare these two first class lounges, the Lufthansa lounge is like a topnotch luxurious five-star hotel whereas the Star Alliance lounge is like a motel, not even a hotel. These two could not be possibly compared. If you have an opportunity to use the Lufthansa First Class Lounge, just do it, even for 30 minutes. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. A nice lounge for Star Alliance Gold passengers. No comparison to United's Polaris lounge at SFO…read morewhich is closer to, though not at the level of, the LH First Class Lounges/Terminal. To get to the bathrooms, you have to exit the Senator Lounge and go around the corner to the Business Lounge. Not ideal. Rather than just having the self service bar like at FRA, there is a Bar that has wines at the counter, but there is generally no staff behind the counter to prepare drinks although that appears to be the only options for cocktails. When I refilled my wine, there was a customer sitting right in front of the bottles and I had to reach around him to do so. He was oblivious talking on his phone and paid no attention to me. It was a little bizarre.

Well, imagine my surprise when I scanned my boating pass at the counter and was immediately directed into the Senator Lounge! :-D Huge, spacious, modern, and just purely AWESOME! Tons of food, and a full bar that rivals high-end restaurants. Lots of places to sit with outlets to charge your devices. I found a nice lounge chair adter I pulled myself a frosty glass of Franziskanner Weissbier. Several TVs showed both local TV as well as CNN. Here's hoping I keep getting directed to Senator Lounges in the future!

It was OK, meh. I did like the self pour wine station. While the selection was limited, it was a nice touch to be able to help yourself to a glass while waiting to board. Overall, the food could use some improvement but worth it for a quick bite and drinks!

The facilities basically remain the same but the experience is much nicer now. Free WIFI is now also available, though you will have to type in the SSID (network name) in your device as the network does not advertise itself. The name of the network is indicated at the reception desk. The network also supports VPN connections. My pet peeve, the lavatories, has also been fixed. They used to be dramatically untidy (not necessarily dirty). The times I've used them since the facelift they've been very tidy! It also looks like there is more staff available to keep things nice. The selection of magazines and newspapers has been greatly improved. Though non of the papers or magazines are marked with 'property of' labels I imagine the selection being larger at the beginning of the month, and progressively more magazine get taken on the flights. I think the improvements are worth 1.5 stars but can't award 0.5 stars. Only area for improvement is the catering.

Mostly little snacks like pretzel, biscuit, cupcake, olives, tomatoes, yogurt, potato chips, chocolate. There's a coffee machine that can also make lattes/macchiatos/espresso etc. Soda and water. There isn't any food that you can make a meal out of. I don't really recommend going out of your way to come to this lounge unless you have alot of time to waste or really wanna get away from the regular people. TIP: This lounge is located in terminal 1. If your flight is at terminal 2, there's a bus that connects you between the terminals. Bus comes every 15 minutes. If your flight is at terminal 2, You can access the Atlantic Lounge by going through the terminal 1, gate C (business/priority security line (not the regular line)). You have to tell the security guy you want to go to Atlantic lounge because the computers will reject your boarding pass. Once you go through security check and immigration, and find the lounge, the bus that transports you back to terminal 2 is only about a 5 minute walk away from the lounge. On the bus, it's like another 5 minute ride to the terminal 2. Give yourself extra time to travel to your gate! My flight was at terminal 2 gate L25. Even after I got off the bus, I had to take another shuttle to my gate.

It's behind a cage built by Camel cigarettes to capture smokers. Or else it's just an enclosed room for people to smoke in. Either way look for the giant camel statue. The lounge itself is just a single room with some sofas and chairs. The food at hand was snacks such as muffins, pretzels, and fruit. There was alcohol and soda available also. They also have an automated machine for coffee or hot chocolate. You're not going to get a full meal here but I was happy to get some fruit and water without having to pay for it in a gift store. We were able to relax here for an hour before heading back to the states. It made a long day of travel more bearable.

After an extremely lengthy immigration and security process, we were able to get into the lounge by 8:30pm. We had left our hotel at 6:30 pm and in the middle of all the sightseeing we had not taken a break for lunch or dinner (just coffee & a sandwich on the go). So we were hungry & a bit on edge. It was a bit of a maze to locate the lounge, but the staff at the desk were extremely welcoming and friendly. The problem was when it came to the refreshments. The coffee machine was great & we had some wonderful coffee, there was a pretty decent alcohol selection, but we don't drink before & during flights. It was the food that was woefully inadequate. There were a few crumbling sandwiches, some so called spicy chicken and a potato snack option. Both were cold, hard, dry and tasteless. There was one packet of crisps left, which I picked up and we ate that and a tiny pot of ice cream and sipped on our coffee. We watched them clear up all the tables at 8:40 and thought that they would bring out some fresh hot food. It was only at 9:00 that we realised that they were cleaning up in anticipation of closing down. This was too late for us to even consider visiting another eatery in the airport. The problem was that by the time we reached London T5 and cleared immigration it was 10:30 and the only option at T5 on arrival is Costa which I definitely did not want. Too late to order delivery once we got home too. So we had to be content with instant noodles. If you are hungry when you arrive at Munich airport (Budget at least one hour for the queues, even if you are a gold card holder or flying Business class), don't bother finding the lounge, but eat at one of the restaurants immediately after you are through. If you just want a quiet place to sit down and sip on a drink, only then head to the BA lounge.

In light of recent improvements, I have upgraded my review of this lounge from "crummy" to "shabby…read moregenteel". Congratulations, BA!
