Oscar is the best. I've been here twice and the atmosphere is upscale and welcoming. Prices are very fair for the services and skill they provide. The adult beverages on site is a nice touch if you have to wait. Even if I can't partake due to gluten issues. It helps keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable nonetheless. Lucky has been our family's barber for many years! Always awesome but today I went in and had the best pedicures treatment I have had in years. Melody knows feet and even Reflexology. This is the third time my son has had his hair cut here. I haven't been inside I just wait in the car. I always call to make an appointment because he wants to have Kyle cut his hair, also I verify they are all wearing masks. Each time my son has had his hair cut it takes an hour and half. We arrived at 11.30 and got done right before 1. I'm not complaint he does an amazing job, the lines he makes are perfection. This place is RACIST if you are not white they will not open the door for you I've waited twice and once waited to see if someone else was coming. They let of course the white family in but not the rest. Even after calling they claim to be open to the public but lock the doors if you are hint of any color that's not white and will stare at you until you walk away. read more

My son has been extremely fussy about people cutting his hair. Seth did an amazing job and even advised us on hair products and how to style the hair. I gave Lucky's 5 stars before and I'm doing it again. I had an appointment with Oscar, again, for my son who has extremely curly hair. Oscar did a phenomenal job on his short hair cut before. Currently, my sons hair is long, tight curls and Oscar was humble and honest that he may not be the best barber in the shop for long hair, so he recommended us to Joy. She was finishing up a beautiful skin fade and we decided to wait. Joy was kind, patient, and extremely skilled in her craft. She was perfectly conservative with how much she cut at a time, ensuring the cut was exactly what my son was looking for. The level of professionalism from both Oscar and Joy was so refreshing, as I am a licensed cosmetologist and perhaps have high standards. Like before, the shop was impeccably clean. This is the best place in town for boys and men's cuts. I have gone to about every place in town and aside from one other place (that is usually so packed we can never get in anyways) everyone has destroyed my boys hair. It will always be uneven and honestly it usually sucks. I spend all my time crossing my fingers hoping it comes out okay at most places. This place is insanely awesome. They spend time on the cuts to get it right and they don't just rush through it. The building is clean and new. I honestly won't go anywhere else. After two years of at-home haircuts, today I visited "Lucky's" Barber shop in Tehachapi for a real haircut. When I arrived, I was immediately impressed by the amazing, welcoming decor. Very cool. What a lousy shop! Worst hair cut ever! Place was filthy, floors were dirty with hair clippings. The character cutting my hair name was Joe. All he did was bad mouth other barbers in the area and other business in the small town. I'll travel 100 miles before I ever step into that place again. Public beware. A+ haircuts. Good, personable babrsbers. Their MAJOR downfall is that they never seem to be there most of the times I've gone to the shop. I've spent several times waiting for hours outside the shop for someone to show up. It sucks when you drive 20 minutes to town to get a hair cut and they aren't there. It's not just one occasion, and it's not a certain time that I've showed up either. I've showed up at various times, only to find the shop closed. I have a very simple haircut, it takes most people about 10 minutes to do it. This place took somewhere between an hour and 45 minutes finish. On top of that the guy basically rushed me out of the chair with out asking me if he got it right, which he did not. After further inspection the top is crooked and not cut right. The only reason they did not get one star was because of their prices,$14 for a hair cut.. The straight razor neck shave was nice, but a little warning would be nice before getting slapped with warm shaving cream. My recommendation is to skip this place unless you have some time to kill. read more

Update: decided to stop coming here simply because no one shows up on time. It was a problem every time I came in, so I decided to just go elsewhere for a few months. Today, I gave it another try and showed up at 11:30 even though they open at 11. Walked up and the door was locked so I waited outside for 15 minutes. Then, I heard the door unlock and one of the other guys who was waiting with me walked in. There were already people inside waiting, who obviously knew the barber. He had let them in, locked the door for whatever reason, and was already almost done with one of them before he let anyone else in. It was weird and he didn't even mention the fact that he let us wait outside for so long even though he was in there and the shop was meant to be open. They really do cut hair well, I just can't stand the lack of respect for their customers. read more

I've tried several places in Tehachapi and this is by far my favorite. Friendly barber, reasonable price, and a great haircut. The neck and sideburn shave with a straight razor was a nice bonus.
