Seriously?! I found a used BAND-AID inside the patty when I cut them in the half. Somebody in the kitchen must forget to wear a hygiene gloves. definitely a NO-GO. I am filing a complaint to the authority now!!!

The salmon sandwich with rice ($9)

Lucie Monroe's is a subpar Mediterranean restaurant with many selections but disappointingly bland food. I ordered the salmon sandwich with rice for 9 dollars to go. The rice was tasty and well cooked. The sandwich was a tad soggy with a bit too much sauce. The salmon itself was slightly overcooked and on the dry side with little flavor. My friend ordered the gyro and was equally disappointed. The meat looked microwaved and did not taste very good. The pita was thick and the gyro looked rather dry. If you do eat here, I suggest eating their food fresh; it may be a better experience than what I had. I will say that the food is filling at a decent price, but I will not be returning to this establishment. Head to Souvlaki's for a better Mediterranean experience.

One of good friends introduced me to Lucie Monroe's and ever since then I have been hooked. The menu has a good selection and variety to choose from. They also serve alcoholic drinks! I always order the Chicken Gyro Wrap with Rice. From my experiences, the chicken has always been moist and tender. The rice is absolutely delicious and I appreciate the small array of vegetables they offer with wrap. One small detail that I also very much appreciate is that while the chicken is moist and warm, the vegetables are still crisp and on the cool within the wrap. Every time I have visited, I was always well taken care of by who I assume is the owner. He is extremely attentive and kind. I take a while to order and he patiently waits, while answering any questions I have. I ended up sitting at a table that was slightly wobbly and he fixed it right away. Overall, I only have good words for Lucie Monroe's and will be back for my Mediterranean food cravings!

    Falafel Burger

Came here because of a hooked deal that was buy a burger and two drinks and get a free burger. Ended up getting a falafel burger and their philly burger. Philly burger wasn't eye popping or anything but the falafel burger was phenomenal. Never really had falafel much but I could tell it was freshly cooked and enjoyed it. For a burger, it's on the pricier end around $7/8 but it came with fries also. If you come here I'd recommend getting the falafel burger.

I really like the vibe inside the establishment - it's very homey. They have outdoor seating, and they split the interior of the restaurant into two sections. The split is very unique and I actually like it a lot as far as interior design goes. The store doubles as a coffee shop and Mediterranean restaurant. We decided to try the Mediterranean food. I ordered the Chicken Kabob Platter, which comes with rice and pita bread, along with a side - I chose salad with Greek dressing. Everything is served with tahini sauce. (See attached image) The chicken was good! I think it could have used a little more salt, but I enjoyed the flavor nonetheless. The Chicken Kabob was seasoned the same way as the Chicken Shawarma; the only difference was that the kabob was cut into bigger pieces, and not sliced the way that shawarma typically is. The rice was solid. I enjoyed the Pita bread, and I liked the fact that they warmed it up. The salad was delicious; they put a lot of onion in there which I like. Our waitress recommended the Greek dressing, which is why I ordered it, but I ended up not liking it. Overall, the food was decent! It was not super amazing, but I enjoyed it. And the way they plate their food is excellent. The service at Lucie Monroe's was amazing. The owner of the restaurant brought our table free hummus and pita bread, which was super nice and delicious! Also, the business was definitely family-owned, as there was a small child walking around who asked us how are meal was. It was so cute! Lucie Monroe's offers solid Mediterranean food at a decent price. The service was awesome and I'll definitely come back!

Mixed Kabob plate and hummus appetizer

My friend and I visited this family friendly restaurant and were greeted with a simple decor and atmosphere upon entering. Simple because all their effort and time goes into making delicious, home-cooked meals. My friend and I ordered a mixed kabob plate and hummus appetizer to share and we left with enough food in a box to take home and eat for supper. There was plenty of rice and meat in the dish and it tasted home made, which I like better than that of chain Mediterranean places in the area. I just wish they gave us more vegetables in the kabob plate and that the service was a little bit faster. For authentic, home-cooked Mediterranean meals and a family friendly atmosphere I highly recommend stopping by this local establishment.

Lucid Monroe's is getting better each time I eat it! Would give 10 stars just for the service. The people are so nice and accommodating. As for the food, the first time I had it it was okay, but i got the falafel. This time I got the chicken shawarma and that was delicious!!! Great flavors and the fries are so great too. I believe they are beer battered like fries.

It is said that good things come in small packages, and this tiny Mediterranean and Middle Eastern…read morerestaurant perfectly embodies this saying. Since it opened its doors in 2017 in Salem, Virginia, this small but very popular, family-owned restaurant by Egyptian immigrants is known for its fresh made-to-order gyros, falafel, and Greek salads, just to name a few. Today I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant and discover the qualities that make this tiny restaurant in the middle of nowhere so popular. Because of its small size, most of its customers orders are take outs. But it also has a counter inside with around 3 to 4 stools so that customers who prefer to eat their food in the restaurant can. When I arrived, I parked my Lexus in a space right in front of the restaurant and noticed that there are not that many parking spots around. That is another reason why most of its sells are take-out orders. Customers can either call in their orders and drop by to pick it up, or park for a few minutes, make their order, and watch it being made, and then take it with them to enjoy at home. In good, warm weather, they do have two picnic tables outdoors where their customers can eat. Inside, I was able to meet the husband of the family who runs the business. He was very friendly and kind, a native of Egypt with a wife and 5 siblings. He gave me a warm welcome and took my eat-in order. The menu (which had Halal food) was displayed inside a Coca-Cola stand. To drink I grabbed a Mountain Dew from their drinks display refrigerator they have with Coke products. To eat I ordered their Gyro Special: Gyro meat served with rice and a small salad. It came with a special salad dressing and a sauce to put on the meat. The kitchen and the restaurant itself were very clean and all the ingredients used were very fresh and quality products. I sat on one of the stools, in front of the counter and watched him prepare my food. After paying for it with a credit card, I began to enjoy eating it. The salad was very fresh, made right before my eyes. The meat was Broiled right then and there, and the rice had a yellow tone and tasted unbearably delicious! As I was eating, the owner/chef put up a sign on the counter that read: "Please wait. I'm praying. thank you." I then figured out he must be Muslim and as soon as he finished praying I said to him: "As-salamu alaykum." He appreciated my nice words. While I was there, two other customers came in and ordered takeout food. For dessert I ordered an in-house made Baklava. The shape didn't look so good but the flavor did taste good. He told me that I could eat it with my hands but since they didn't have a restroom to wash my hands afterwards, I asked for a plastic fork to eat it with. Their prices were very reasonable and their portions very generous. I paid for the Baklava and thanked him for the wonderful service. The food was so genuine and delicious that whenever I'm in this area next time, I will definitely stop by and dine there again.

Best gyro I've had in years. No frills. The meat shines in its simplicity: seasoning and texture…read more The ingredients in the pita were fresh and proportioned well, and the tzatziki (as another reviewer pointed out) was top notch. I also got a pita and side of hummus, and the hummus was special. I didn't ask, but I think the oil may have been grapeseed? Either way, delicious. The proprietor was kind and took pride in his specialty. I wish there was a bathroom, but you have to appreciate the intimacy of a "hole-in-the-wall" corner shop, which I say with the upmost respect.
