I would not recommend this therapist. I sought his counsel for some issues I was experiencing with my partner. I was very eager to meet with Lucian (based on his Yelp reviews as a couples counselor) but left so disappointed. I felt he lacked the capacity to really connect with what I was sharing. I had a 10am appointment so maybe he's not a morning person? In any case, my session with Lucian lacked depth. He lacked the ability to empathize and decent communication skills. He seemed easily bored by conversation and is an utterly ineffective therapist. This was the first (and last) time I'd left a therapy session feeling more frustrated and not listened to. read more

if you are looking here because you are fed up with fighting with your partner of a long time and therapy is a last resort, stop looking and call lucian. if you are looking here because you have been in an amazing relationship for a little while but it has some hiccups and you want to learn how to deal with the things you dont find amazing about your partner before nothing is amazing, stop looking and call lucian. my boyfriend and i saw lucian for a few months after we had been together for about 8 months and i knew the one year itch would be coming for me. lucian gave us the tools to work through any disagreements before they became full blown screaming matches. our last appointment was several months ago now, because lucian fixed us! but, we always know he is in our back pocket if we need a tune up. we havent needed one yet though because once our arguments start to get out of hand, one of us will say, "do we need to make an appointment with lucian?" then we check ourselves before we wreck ourselves, dig deeper into the toolbox lucian gave us and (so far) we have worked things out! read more

Its a blessing places like this exist. We had a huge break down in communication, and for months nothing was working. Yes even the D word was thrown around for a bit. Won't get too much into our details, but I will say that this place was literally a life saver. After seven years of a strong heathy relationship, it made no sense to throw it all down the drain. All that time with your partner, and boom, gone. Wasn't an option for us. They helped us work on communication tactics which we still use to this day. Along with several other things. One thing to know about Lucian is that he is crazy smart. He's grounded theoretically, and he has a broad and deep knowledge of his field. He's also well-versed in alternative, naturopathic approaches to health such as nutrition/lifestyle change, homeopathy, and energy work. He understands the pressures on modern marriages: financial stress; career demands; parental pressures; time constraints; modern distractions that prevent true intimacy; and etc. And fortunate for those of us who get to work with him, he applies all of this skill and background to his practice while remaining extremely down-to-earth and practical. He relates easily and is easy to relate to. When it's appropriate, he's willing to share a bit about himself with us, too - but without transgressing the bounds of professionalism or diverting attention from our counseling goals. And a bonus: He's got an excellent sense of humor, and big, contagious laugh - which, of course, can be a huge help in tense circumstances. Lucian has a great sense of what couples need and has the skill to be extremely flexible while maintaining effectiveness. For example, he trained my partner and I in the Imago dialogue process (i.e. Getting the Love You Want by H. Hendrix), which provides a script for relating effectively. Often, we stuck directly to the script, but sometimes, we used it only as a tool, and sometimes, we didn't use it at all and just talked things through. At times, we did activities meant to create connection, build intimacy, and tap into submerged parts of ourselves. A careful observer, he identified the ways we perpetuated our negative relationship patterns, and he provided useful tools. Importantly, his practice was always grounded in compassion. Marriage isn't always easy. The journey includes amazing times - as well as rough patches, entrenched beliefs and assumptions, bad habits and patterns of poor communication. But, with Lucian's help, in my marriage, I was better able to negotiate these obstacles, gain clarity, and take a closer look at my relationship dynamic. read more

He seems astute enough, so 1 star there. 3 sessions in, he decided to give my husband the legal advice to establish a plan with mediation through divorce, then call him. He thought counseling would be too inflamatory. Had a really hard time rescheduling when we both thought it would be better to do counseling before divorce proceedings. Weeks passed. This seems backward to me since we both thought trying to salvage the marriage and trust should come first. Now we are full scale headed toward non-amicable divorce and no marital/relational matters have been addressed at all. Devastated, having tried to reach out for help, having poured out my soul of 17 years to him with no help whatsoever. If this is your last saving grace, find someone else. It's too important for the back burner. read more

After going through some very hard losses in my life and struggling with a few other issues I decided to try therapy. I've been seeing Lucian for a few months now and I have to say that my mental health has come a long way. Lucian is very perceptive and smart and is able to really get to the core of my issues. He's very easy to talk to and I walk away from my sessions feeling like I've taken a lot of weight off my shoulders. With a clearer mind I am able to get my everyday tasks taken care of with more ease. I no longer have the anxiety that kept me paralyzed in certain parts of my life. I finally feel like my life is moving forward instead of being stuck or living in the past. I would recommend Lucian to absolutely anyone, he is even available for Skype or phone sessions which makes it easier for anyone with a busy schedule.
