Loving and clean home away from home! As a first time mom with major cleanliness and child development concerns I was probably the last person any daycare wanted to deal with. However, just a few minutes during our first visit and all of my stress had disappeared. Not only was the location obviously clean, but it was very clear that Rejane (the owner) prioritized keeping a clean environment for the kids - regular deep clearnings, cleaning toys that had been mouthed, careful care of how kids were changed. The place looked like a pseudo preschool with lots of developmentally appropriate books and toys, kids were regularly doing art activities that activities that built on their motor skills. There is a garden outside with a play area and never fear - they are completely on top of sunscreen and hats. My kid fights both of those things like they are made of fire - but she is 100% compliant at Lucca. On my fist visit I saw kids joyfully lining up to take a nap, and any time I had been there kids were super happy and full of love and joy. The helpers that Rejane is mercilessly careful about hiring are full of love for our babies. I was sad to be away from my child but I never feared that she wouldn't be surrounded by so much love; and music! and dancing! again, the joy in this place makes a big difference. My daughter loves to sing and dance and loves to care for other children and babies- and I know it is because of what was modeled for her in Rejane's home Regarding logistics - I know that I am not the only parent who is grateful to the schedule that Rejane keeps. Many people I speak to say that their kid never napped before starting at Lucca. They also offer a fresh, hot breakfast, snack, and fresh hot lunch, and afternoon snack. I can't tell you how comforting it is to know that your kid is fed healthy, organic freshly made warm meals. Sometimes meat, sometimes not. My daughter had a dairy allergy when she started and they were completely on top of it. Potty training! They even do potty training... and thank God. They are super on top of it and even quite encouraging of the parents. I am so grateful for that support. Rejane's background is clearly managing complex programs and projects and her ability to stay so on top of everything is helpful becuase working parents, especially new parents, have so much on our minds as it is. I am getting ready to transition into preschool and just dealing with the packed lunches, no breakfast, and not having all the nap-gear taken care of... we have been spoiled in Rejane's home. If you are someone who lives in Marin and commutes to SF, it can be challenging to find childcare options. I was able to do 7:30 drop off and make it to the 7:50 ferry. I was lucky enough that my boss in SF let me work from home (on the ferry and at home) in the afternoons, so taking the 4:00 or 4:30 ferry worked to make it by 5:30 pick-up. Keep in mind that this is a very personal choice, and everything has to feel right for you and your family. Lucca Bambucca has been wonderful for our family, and the owner-director Rejane and her staff have have been instrumental making my transition back to work positive for all of us. She has helped us through some feeding difficulties with patience, compassion, and confidence. As a first-time mom, I am grateful for Rejane's extensive experience with infants and children, and truly appreciate having her on our team. Our son loves her, and enjoys the activities and other children at LB. He seems to be learning by watching the older kids, and is quickly picking up new motor and social skills that he is eager to practice at home. The space is beautiful and clean, with a main play/activity area, a sleep area, and a nicely-maintained back yard area. The kids are fed nutritious home-cooked organic meals with a lot of variety. The staffing ratio allows for plenty of one-one-one attention. When I go to LB it always seems the kids are happy, secure, and forming friendships amongst themselves and affection and respect for their caregivers. This review has been overdue. We are very thankful to Rejane and her wonderful team at Lucca Bambucca who took such good care of our son for 2 years. The day care space is maintained to very high standards of cleanliness - we have personally seen the professional cleaning crews periodically. Being OCD about cleanliness, we've never had any second thoughts about the hygiene at Lucca Bumbucca. The food is prepared fresh daily and is very healthy. There is no fast food/pizza in Rejane's menu. And our son loves her food. Rejane has also been very accommodating to our family needs, and specially prepared vegetarian food for our son daily to cater to our needs. She also tried different high calorie snacks for our son, to support his growth plan. Overall she provides personal attention to each child. Lucca has fun activities throughout the year. It keeps the child engaged and helps with overall development. She regularly sends pictures, shares details of the activities, and helps keep a connect with your child's time there. Also, her years of experience help in managing the child's health. She does run a tight ship, but overall, we have no complaints. Rejane is a generous and caring individual. We had to leave due to other circumstances. But if ever needed, we would go back to her without a second thought. read more

I interviewed several daycare for our daughter, and I'm so glad that we picked Lucca Bambucca! Their program is really fun! They have a large outside play area, a daily music session and an art class. Their place is very well taken care of. All the toys, the play mat and the furniture are always clean, organized and fully stacked. What helped us make a decision the most is that they adjust the program for infants (e.g. more frequent feeding, longer naps, etc) vs. toddlers. But, what I'm happy with the most is the owner, Rejane. Before my daughter's first day, I was worried if she would be able to follow their nap schedule, since she could only sleep on my lap at home with me. But, with the Rejane's magic, my daughter quickly learned how to take two 1.5-hr naps daily! Rejane's assistants are also really great with kids as well. They are very comfortable with any situations, and my daughter looks very happy being held and taken care by them. Rejane spends time with all the parents during the pickup time to share how their kids have done, what we should keep an eye on at home and how we should help the kids with certain challenges. It's been three months since my daughter has enrolled to Lucca Bambucca. Of all the parenting challenges I've faced during that time, Rejane was right there with me, providing guidance. This review is focused on the ability of Rejane, Lucca Bambucca's care provider, to get our little baby to SLEEP. (!!) We started our son in daycare when he was 6 1/2 months old. At that time, he was *just* beginning to take longer than 30/45 min naps during the day, but was still sleeping terribly at night. We still had him in our room (due to SIDS risk, since the AAP now recommends to keep them there until they're 12 months old...which I now think is completely insane!), and he was waking up about 5 times a night. We'd put him down around 730p, but then he'd wake up at 830p, 930p, 11p, 1p, 3p... It was awful! Rejane looked at me and said, "You need to get him out of your room...tonight. You need some sleep, mama!". Then, she proceeded to tell me the importance of giving a baby his or her own room not only for their sleep, but for the parents' sleep. So, we did it. We moved him out of our room 2 days later, and followed her directions for getting him to sleep through the night, and HE DID IT. He's been doing it ever since. He's a WONDERFUL sleeper now. He sleeps 12 hours at night, takes 2 long naps during the day (also, her set nap routines of 10am and 2pm are gold), and goes to sleep on his own without a battle. Although I moved to the East Coast recently, I have nothing but wonderful memories of Lucca Bambucca Daycare. I have known Rejane Hurst, and Lucca Bambucca Daycare for 7 years, and through that time, I have seen her care for all 4 of my children, including our latest baby boy who is 15 months old. Rejane is an onsite director who is incredibly involved, and hands on, loving, and patient. She has 4 children of her own, and although they have outgrown daycare now, her parental and childcare experience are obvious. She has used her college degree, and previous employment in the high tech industry to impart a professional, yet nurturing approach to staff, parents, and of course children. At the time of this review, there are 3 full time staffers, preparing home made meals, rocking children for naptime, exploration in the backyard, and playground, and educating children, through play and immersion in the language arts. A decade ago, as a 1st time parent, I underestimated the need for social - emotional education, and play - based programs, but through the course of my own parenting education, I know that play is how children learn about the world, and navigate the milestones of childhood; to have the opportunity to do so in Lucca Bambucca Daycare is a blessing. The space has a main room, well stocked, and perpetually clean. It looks clean. It smells clean. Then, there is a 2nd room for naps, and greeting foyer, and backyard that has well - maintained play equipment, and synthetic turf. Staffers stay on for 1 year +, and are well - groomed, but approachable. Lucca Bambucca has an "open door" policy, in which time any parent can stop by unannounced. I've used their weekend, and after hours, and even overnight service when in a pinch. It's not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, and for me, it's a reasonable price for what you get, especially the staff to child ratio, and meals. read more

We sent our son Jason to Lucca Bambucca when he was 18 month old. Rejane is a mother for four kids, and she is very experienced and professional. When we first visited her place on Jan 10 2017, I remember I was impressed by her place. 1. Children are very diversified. I think it is good for child to learn from other kids from other ethnicity. 2. The daily menu is pretty clear and standardized. All the food are organic. The policy is that, no juice, no pizza or pasta, no sugar. Very very healthy. Rejane only gives children milk and water as liquids. She only provide fresh fruits, yogurt, and cheese for snack. I really like her food menu. 3. Rejane has two more staff to help her. One is responsible for cooking, one is responsible taking care of other kids with her. The teacher to kid ratio is good. Now totally there are no more than 10 kids every day. 4. Her place is clean, nice, and organized. 5. If weather is good, children have lots of outdoor activities. They will play in the back yard, go to the park nearby, sometimes they will be taken to museum. I really like the various outdoor activities provided by Rejane. 6. Regarding the language, Rejane speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese, and her 2 assistants speak Spanish most of the time. However, it is really a good environment for kids who want to learn English even Spanish. My husband and I are Chinese, and we speak Mandarin at home to Jason. It is amazing that Jason still learn English, Spanish and Portuguese in Lucca Bambucca! It is really amazing! Although Jason only stayed Lucca Bambucca for only 2 months (the reason is that we will send him to another daycare owned by Chinese, so that he can learn Mandarin), we do recommend Lucca Bambucca to other parents! read more

I found this little gem of a daycare when I met the owner/director Rejane at my older daughter's ballet. I was starting back at work and needed a part time daycare solution for my 2.5year old. Rejane is knowledgeable, compassionate, and very fun. My daughter loves going to Lucca Bambucca and loves the personal attention she is given at this "boutique" daycare. It is meticulously clean, the care workers are cheerful and engaged, they have plenty to do inside and out, and I feel a sense of relief when I drop my child there. Kids can tell when their caregivers are adept and they like being around people who know what they're doing. Rejane is also curious about child development and will give extra time and effort when needed. She is truly interested in how to provide the best environment for babies and children and it shows when you speak with her and watch her interact with the kids. When we were getting ready to begin sending our daughter we had many discussions on preparations and techniques for things like getting her to take a bottle, helping her adjust to a new schedule and items to bring from home. Her home and the kids' play areas are spotlessly cleaned and the variety of foods she serves are delicious and nutrient-rich. Our son went to Lucca Bambucca for 1+ yrs after we moved to SR. We came from Bright orizons in SF and had high expectations of how a daycare should be run. Rejane and her staff met or exceeded all those expectations. Rejane, her staff, and her family, are all sweethearts, just great people. Her program, her facility, the food they prepare daily, the location's convenience, the other kids, and their parents, were always a joy to be around. You can tell staff is there for the right reasons, with the right experience and patience needed. Should be on every list of parents looking for a daycare in the area. I had both of my kids at Lucca Bambucca and not only the kids loved the time they spent with Rejane and her staff but also all the food they cooked for them and all the extra activities like music class and ate & crafts. There's no pasta or pizza or hot dogs. We had our son in Lucca Bambucca for about a month earlier this year, but he was hurt while in Rejane's care... or should I say while he was *supposed* to be. Rejane had left that day to run an errand in San Francisco, leaving the children in the care of untrained workers, including one from Guatemala who didn't speak English. Since we moved to Let's Play we've been much happier and our son is safe. Strongly recommend you stay away from Rejane and Lucca Bambucca if safety is a concern. read more
