This cafe has heaps of comfy seating and a good range of foccacia's to nosh on at lunchtime. There's lots of wood and wicker seating out front with shady umbrellas, and I would recommend sitting outside because the chairs inside squeak on the floor so bad I started grinding my teeth. Now, the biscuits: I had coconut macarons, lime shortbread, and coffee florentines, and they were too delicious to believe, try them for yourself. As soon as you place a coffee order they bring you a water glass on a whimsical silver platter, as if to say 'cleanse your palate lady, you're in for a ride.' The atmosphere is somewhat helped by the charismatic pastry chef, but at the end of the day, it's all about the cakes. And they're damn good cakes.

I was excited to see this bakery pop up on Magill Road in the last month. They have really decked out this shop in comparison to before with subway tiles and modern interior. It's not heaps flash, but looks a heck of a lot better amongst the other shops. They offer a whole range of different pastries, lots of donuts and danishes. They also have a sandwich bar and a lot of different pies & pasties. My rule with testing out a bakery is to try their sausage rolls and sourdough. If they get that right, they are good. The sausage roll was $4.40, which is pretty expensive. But, it is really big. The pasty is quite thick, but a little flaky. The meat inside is well seasoned, but I feel like they have mixed a little too much breadcrumbs through. So, it was a little doughy. It was a good sausage roll, and I will try another one. As for the sourdough, it is really fluffy and crusty! Really yummy! But, it is not that sour, which was a little disappointing. Most sourdoughs are a little more dense then this one. However, it's nice to try different versions and I will probably buy it again. It was $7 a loaf though, which is pretty costly for bread. So, I expect a lot when I pay that much. Overall, a good bakery for the neighbourhood. I will keep trying baked goods here and update my review as I go.

The sweets at this bakery always have a hearty feel, and remind me of German food. I ate so many sweets when in Germany, it's nice to relive it with thick and tasty sweets here. Their danishes are my favourites, especially the mini ones, because you feel less bad about eating several if they're mini. Their pies are cheap and tasty, and great to grab and go. They also have great specials on later in the day, so it's always worth having a look.

There are a variety of cake flavours, which are all amazingly delicious and in order to help you decide what flavour you want, they offer free samples of their cakes. I ended up going for the chocolate and caramel cake. There are also a huge number of themes and designs to choose from, which was great for me as I had a themed birthday party.
