I originally hired Gary to do two small jobs to the roof of my flat and on completing them successfully, Gary 'notified me' of another problem. He then used a gently-gently approach to gain my trust and once he had this, he advised me that if this job wasn't done then there would be serious structural implications for the entire flat and that it was incredibly urgent. Over 7 months, with unsightly scaffolding up around the property, we were held at ransom, bullied and essentially blackmailed in order to part with more money. As soon as I began to realize he was a fraudster, I confronted him about the lack of progress on the roof and where all the money I paid him had supposedly gone. I was initially met with aggression but then pretty soon after that, radio silence at which point he refused to speak with me. So in summary, he lied about the cause of the job (it didn't need doing), he then put up scaffolding outside my house for 7 months, the only work he ever did was to take tiles OFF my roof and just left the house bare, he then just got aggressive and then refused to turn up for work. I had to pay someone to re-tile the roof and take the scaffolding away. Please contact me before even thinking about working with this guy. DONT WORK WITH THIS GUY!!!

Incompetent and unreliable. David Middleton was contacted to assess the cause of a chimney leak in…read morethe attic. He claimed the chimney leak could only be fixed if he carried out extensive work on the chimney: capping, repointing, fitting new lead flashing, taking off chimney pots, for the price of £796. He was unreliable, not turning up as promised within a week. We had to wait two months and chase him again. He did the work on a wet day in December and left us with a leaking chimney just as we had at the start. He refused to return some of the money. He came back four times trying to fix the leak, but he did not succeed. He had guaranteed the leak would be fixed if the whole chimney was capped and repointed, obviously an expensive job, but he obviously had no idea what the real problem was or he did the work incompetently. He also bluntly lied that he had said all along the problem was the roof, when he had explicitly stated from the beginning that the roof was in good condition. I would not recommend his shoddy workmanship.
