It's unfortunate and extremely disappointing how bad shopping with and dealing with Lowe's has become. First off, when you go online to make a purchase for in store pickup, 9 times out of 10 it will show item ready for in store pickup. One you get to the store for pickup you will find out that it in fact is not in stock and they will call you when said item arrives in days or weeks. I have noticed lately that they are not staffed adequately. This review is by no means directed toward a majority of their employees who are friendly and helpful. There are a couple who actually go above and beyond to be courteous and helpful. Since May 2017 my partner and I have spent approx $200,000. At the Elizabethton, TN. Store. After today I will no longer shop at any Lowe's nationwide until they are able to put their customers first and fix their policies to where their employees are able to help their customers in a clear, professional manner. I have several "in store credit" Lowe's cards that I am unable to use now "per their policies" that employees do not clearly understand how to enforce. With approximately 12 employees who I have working for me building several houses, there are occasionally instances where the Incorrect item or size has been purchased. Perhaps at times I've even bought the incorrect amount and needed to return items. In July I broke my ankle and was unable to drive. Upon this happening I was unable to drive to the Lowe's here in Elizabethton, TN, and was left with having to rely on my employees to pick up items that I ordered online. Unfortunately sometimes things needed to be returned. Upon occasionally returning items, a store credit was issued on a Lowe's "store-credit" card. On the back of said card are Lowe's policy on using it and states matching government issued ID "MAY" be required to use the balance on the card. Even though I have the original credit card used to purchase all $200,000 worth of home building material from wood, to nails, screws, appliances, etc. I am not entitled to my store credit because someone else (employee) returned the item and no longer works for me. It gets even better though......I had someone steal tools I had just purchased from Lowe's here in Elizabethton, TN. They took the tools back to Lowe's with their government issued ID and my receipt and got an in store credit even though my credit card showed up on the receipt. Now, I know when I've shopped at Lowe's competitor (Home Depot) they are able to pull every transaction I have made with each credit card or bank card I have. I am not sure why Lowe's isn't able to do this. Most of all my purchases have had a P.O. as well.
To make a long story short, I have hundreds of dollars now, left in "store-credit" from Lowe's that I will never be able to use. I'm assuming they do this intentionally hoping this happens to a majority of their customers. Why? To line their pockets I'm assuming. I spoke with both Andrew and his supervisor Paula today at this store. It's a shame to me that Lowe's thinks so poorly of their dedicated loyal customers. I'm sure whoever the store manager is received, or will receive some sort of bonus from the amount of money I have spent there since May of this year. If their is a way to cancel all the appliances I just bought I will be doing that as well. Shame on Lowe's and especially shame on Lowe's in Elizabethton, TN for such poor store policy. I will be driving to Johnson city from now forward to shop at Home Depot. I did give this Lowe's a chance to do right by this customer and they turned me down. I even offered to bring in all $200,000 + of receipts. They still refused. All I can assume is that they think for #1 I haven't possibly spent this much much money there since May. And #2, I surely wouldn't drive to johnson city to prove my point. Goodbye Lowe's....I'm sure I helped keep an employee or 2 employed through the holidays. I have another large project I am building in Elizabethton set to break ground next week. Shame on Lowe's. read more
