Lower Falls is one of the first places to stop at when you're driving The Kanc from Conway to Lincoln, NH. It's a beautiful natural space full of large, flat rocks and boulders that water rushes over, past, and through. Depending on the season's weather, there may be a lot of water (please be very, very careful exploring this area if the water is high), but in all the years I've been coming here, it's been relatively low making the area pretty navigable - as in, we could hop from rock to rock to nearly the middle! In the summer, it's a great location to splash around in and cool off at (though don't expect any full on swimming). In the autumn, it's got stunning views of foliage so be sure to have those cameras ready! The area has definitely been updated recently as there are now newer fences blocking off formerly accessible places. Lots of picnic table areas. Kind of a bummer if you're a photographer because it limits certain shots now, but safety first I guess. This area also can get very, very crowded - wanna be a cool kid in the know? There are stops immediately before Lower Falls that have nearly the same views with nearly no people! CARRY IN, CARRY OUT PLEASE.

The falls in the spring, raging with fun off.

This has been one of my family and my favorite spots for some time. It hasn't always looked the way it does now but it's always been a decent swimming spot. I can remember being 5 years old and stopping along the kanc for a picnic and a swim. Now to this day, years later, we still do the same thing. It's rocky, clear, sandy and has plenty of fun water fall slides and a swimming hole. A day trip, or camping near by, pack a lunch, bring some towels and maybe some chairs and find a spot! Go early, as these days, as most places do, it fills up rather quickly. By noon, there's no parking in the lot, and people are lining the street where it's allowed. There's a large lot, a few picnic tables and grills and maybe one or two covered spots, nice bathrooms (for a state park) and pretty amazing access to most of the upper falls and a viewing area for the lower falls, where even wheelchairs have access. Most people congregate around the lower falls and make a day of it. There are even a few hiking trails near by, as well as more than a few campgrounds. There's not a lot of privately owned property along the kanc, but there are a few. Buyers beware though, Bigfoots live here too!

This is a gorgeous little waterfall with some great vantage points for leaf peeping, right off The Kanc! I only found out about it bc I saw a packed parking lot off the side of the road and wanted to stop for some fall foliage pics and this seems a great location! So the waterfall was an added bonus! There's a large paved parking lot that's $5 at a self pay stand (put the money in the envelope and hang the tear-off receipt from your rearview mirror and put the envelope into the collection box - it's an honor system so do the right thing ok)!! I will say, the place was absolutely packed with people lol! But I was able to get a spot easy enough. There are many little walking paths, some paved, some dirt...that lead to the river and the falls and other leaf-peeping vistas. There are also bbq grills and picnic tables, although with the high fire risk and Covid, they looked unavailable. There are also some bathrooms if you need it! I didn't use them so can't speak to their state.

Such an amazing place to be. Spent the whole day here swimming and chilling. Brought a bag full of food and had a picnic on the largest rock on the water. Such a beautiful and peaceful area. Some spots in the water are deep but most spots you can just sit in. The current is strong in some areas as well. Slippery! I suggest just crawling with your arms in the water. If experienced, hoping across the rocks is exciting too.

Great little stop along the Kancamagus highway, no hiking required to see the falls. Autumn is the best time to visit.

A totally stellar spot along the Kancamagus Hwy. It doesn't get any better than this. A bit slippery though.

There is a parking lot and we were able to find parking but I'm sure it gets full at peak times. We enjoyed the hike and the waterfalls. It was in late May so there were quite a few people there. It's a peaceful spot to relax, sit in the pool, and just enjoy nature. I'm glad my family and I got to visit during this trip!

When we noticed an opening, we asked nearby drivers if we could squeeze in, and they had no issue with it. As we were parking, an employee approached us in a very aggressive and unprofessional manner and told us we could not park there. We apologized and explained that we were not from the area and had not seen any signs. We were told that the rule was "well known to locals" and that a sign existed at the front of the line--more than 25 cars ahead, making it impossible for us to see. Despite the surrounding drivers having no objection, the employee demanded we leave and became increasingly hostile when we asked questions or requested a manager. At that point, the interaction escalated unnecessarily, and we decided it wasn't worth the confrontation and left. I've never experienced such a level of rudeness from a staff member over an honest misunderstanding. Clear signage and more professional communication would have avoided the entire situation. Someone even yelled out "stop being a parking nazi". I would have otherwise liked to review the venue itself, but we were unable to do so as we never made it inside.

We would all be crammed into this cottage, spending time together and going on adventures like hiking Mt Chocorua, going out on the canoe on the lake, or just swimming here. I remember countless hours fishing with my dad, I think I can count on one hand how many times I actually caught anything. Or we would just lounge on the porch, or be inside reading. Maybe we would watch the news in the morning, or watch a VHS tape of a kids movie at night (no cable here, this is roughing it!) with everyone in the living room and kitchen. I remember times spent with my grandparents here. Grandma passed away several years ago, and June of this year (2020) Grandpa passed away. There was a flood of memories coming back, it was a couple of years since my last visit. I am glad I was finally able to bring my wife here to see both the cottage and the lake. We went out on the canoe but had to come back because of thunder rolling in. It was her first time in a canoe, 30 seconds in she capsized and fell in the water. I'm glad I wasn't already in the damn thing . With Pine River Pond being 5 miles long, there is so much to explore; the islands, sand bars, tributaries, coves, there is no shortage of things to explore. The weekend was my birthday, and it was nice staying with my family there. This is a beautiful lake. I can't speak for the fishing but if you have a boat there is plenty to explore.
