We stayed here overnight as a half-way point on our way from California to Boise. The Lovelock Inn is obviously a faded lady from better times, when the big freeway didn't cut right past town. The staff was incredibly friendly, the room extremely clean, the king bed surprisingly comfortable. Coming here is like traveling back in time to the motor lodges of the 40s-60s.. You get a real room key (not a card), to a door where the knob is set back 5" instead of today's 3. The room had an old TV with DirectTV satellite, there's a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave. Beautiful 1940s tile work in the shower and some wonky deco-inspired plumbing fixtures with separate hot and cold taps (that dripped a bit). There is 5ghz wi-fi that was excellent, but do bring some power adapters to charge all your electronic junk because the outlets are few and far between So yeah, the place is worn, outdated even. But it's a very honest experience and the owners are really making an effort to make a go of it in a small-town way that is easy to understand and a freshing change from all the antiseptic chains. The downsides: the train tears through blowing its whistle every few hours (at least on this Tuesday night) -- so bring your earplugs! I think every motel in town has this problem since the line parallels the main drag, so you can't fault the Lovelock Inn there. The pool is closed. Also, I'd ask for a room on the back side of the building because the elevated section freeway out front is shockingly close (but noise was not a problem). It was $66 for our king room.

    This is not the Ritz.

We, like the other reviewers before us, turned off at the first Lovelock exit going Eastbound on I80. There was the Lovelock Inn. Looked clean, we drove in. The clerk we woke up, was a nice enough fellow and after an inappropriate comment gave us a room. After a few minutes of lying in the spacious king bed we realized there was a film of sand between us and the sheets. We should've Gotten another room at this point. But we were very tired. So we grabbed the towels, and we swept off the bed as best we could, and we went to sleep. For a good two weeks after we were worried we had also brought home pests with us. The good news is, we didn't. So although the sands of the desert did share the evening with us, there were no other bed partners. I cannot suggest this as a good place to stay.

If we had bottles, we would have used it

It makes for a great crash pad. We got in at 4am. The manager initially charged us $10 per dog, then dropped it to $5 when we went to pay because the king room wasn't available (construction: who, by the way, were quiet). He also didn't hold us to an 11am checkout since we got in when the first of daylight was starting to sneak over the eastern ridge. Our little Havanese dogs were quite comfortable. As were we. The linens looked old bit cared for, similar to my grandmother's house back in Chicagoland. We didn't use them, but that's because we use our own pillow and blanket on trips so we don't get too snug and not want to get up the next day. Country accents. Original wood crown molding and pieces. Lantern-style center light and a Coca-Cola bottle opener on the bathroom door frame. Painted brick (actual brick) walls. Small room, but quaint moreso than cheap in the size. It keeps you comfortable. TV and dresser in a little alcove allows the walking aisles to be open. Gabled windows that open out. We missed the breakfast, but that's because we didn't fall asleep til 5am. Otherwise 7-11am breakfast is generous. AC has vintage dial settings, but clean and functional. All in all, it ain't the Hilton but its charm keeps you calm. It's low-key nature and accommodating conditions made it an ideal stay. And the Manager, I swear, works there 24/7. He was the guy that checked us out when we left later on that day. I think he's the owner/operator.

You can't beat the Lovelock Inn. It's the best hotel you come across out in the middle of nowhere. It's right off of the freeway and just a few blocks from the gas station, Safeway and downtown. They also have real cable TV, when do you ever get that at a hotel? Never! It's always like 5 channels and that's it! I love that they welcome pets as well, which is a must when I travel with my furry friend. They have a brand new pool with nice trees and shade if you want to have a barbecue or just chill by the pool. The rooms are nice and clean and the managers are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

After the most horrendous start to a cross country road trip from Cali to Boston we finally stopped at this motel in Nevada. The reception area seemed quaint in a rustic sort of way (there was a deer head mounted above the fireplace). The white haired chain smoking woman behind the reception desk brought to mind old black and white detective films and seedy motels. The actual room felt very clean, had two large queen size beds, and (surprisingly) didn't smell of smoke. All in all, pretty good bang for our buck. Now I wish I had gotten a better shot of that deer head :(

BATES MOTEL - do not stay at this hotel. There are people there did not fit the bills. Danger, I felt when I was there!

Definitely wanted to take the time to leave this good and honest review. Husband and I were looking…read morefor a half way spot on our way home from vacation. We've never been to Lovelock, but it was on the map and the room was cheap. So I booked it. Then my husband looked at yelp and was sketched out big time on if we should go through with our reservation. It was too late to book elsewhere and my card was already going to be charged. We pulled in, nice building. Good paint job, doesn't look shabby. Attached to a casino, smelled like cigarettes inside but we don't care about that. Girl up front was really nice. Ok, so far so good. We head to our room inside.... SUPER CLEAN. AC was already on and our room was like an ice box, perfect because it was 110 outside. Nice furniture, fridge, microwave, bedding smells like clean bleach, no cigarette smells. HUGE bathroom!!! Separate shower and bath. As a woman, this was awesome. I got to do all my getting ready in here! Mini coffee pot and the coffee was actually really good!!! Hotel was quiet, normal people and normal cars all trying to get a good rest. There was the most absolute WORST experience ever trying to find something to eat in Lovelock. One restaurant was closed, the pizza place is the gas station and we were forced into their 2 star McDonald's where the ice was out and soda carbonation was out lol. And all we kept telling each other is thank god our hotel is nice!! We were very thankful. This hotel deserves the great review. We didn't find anything dirty, obviously no bugs. We slept great before our 4.5 hour drive home. Great stay and experience! Definitely recommend!

The bed is comfy & it seems quiet around the property. There's a good fridge with a freezer compartment & there is also a microwave. However, things just aren't well maintained. The desk chair has a cigarette burn on the seat. I won't use the bathroom fan because when I flipped the switch something sounded horribly wrong. The shower is clean but there is a build-up of water minerals along the bottom edge of the frame. There are few choices in this small town so this may be your only option. Pick a different location along I80 if you want a nicer hotel/motel.
