Dr. Howard (and staff) have been my go-to teeth people since I was a wee little Colleen C…read more From the ages of 2-22 (20 years!), Dr. Howard's office was the only dental institution I visited. After moving to Chicago (and subsequently NYC and London) I had to visit other practices...well, due to practicality. Nothing ever quite measured up, and I quickly found that I was quite spoiled all those years receiving the highest dental care within an extremely friendly and professional office. Also, every single dentist I visited in Chicago/NYC had the same exact comment upon inspecting my chompers: "Wow, this is impressive dental work" or "Looks like you've gone to a very good dentist" or "Your teeth are so white!" Ok that last one is purely accidental as I drink a lot of coffee and colored cocktails, but the first two comments are directly attributed to Dr. Howard's office. No joke. I had the opportunity to pop back in to see my old pals on Carter Road on my most recent trip to TC a few weeks ago -- in need of a cleaning and not in need of the headache associated with finding a new dentist in London, my mom (awww) called and scheduled me an appointment. I was actually quite thrilled to visit my old chomping grounds (wow, the puns are getting out of control in this review, but I cannot help myself!). A few things: 1. Retention. Not only does this office retain clients, but it retains staff. I kid you not, I've not been to this office in 8+ years yet I recognized nearly all of the staff. I think this speaks volumes. Dr. Howard himself has been a dentist in the area for 30+ years. Nancy cleaned my teeth (she's great) and cleans my brother's teeth, his kids' teeth, my mom, my dad...you get the picture. This is a real family atmosphere, and it shows. 2. Friendly. Heidi is at the front desk, and is literally the nicest person in the world. Despite having left my Delta Dental cards somewhere (in what country? I don't even know) -- she quickly arranged to have x-rays sent from past dentist in Chicago, and had insurance info within minutes with zero hassle to me. She's sweet, polite, and genuinely nice. I overheard her on the phone with clients reminding them of appointments, etc and she is like this every single day. She should get a medal! 3. Dr. Howard is meticulous. A little known fact about me is, I DO have great dental work. In fact, not one of my baby teeth fell out on its own, while the adult teeth barged through. You can imagine this would not be a pretty thing if you didn't have a great dentist, but luckily I did. Dr. Howard is a perfectionist to the highest order, but is also realistic to what people can afford, etc. Obviously I was on my parents insurance for many years while visiting this office, but I believe his approach to be very rooted in reality, while achieving the best possible health. 4. It is the only doctor that my dad will ever visit, besides Dr. Walgreens. This is a true testament, as my dad hates doctors and faithfully visits this office every 6 months like clockwork. Three cheers, 5 stars, 24 teeth and a big thumbs up for this office. My most recent visit solidified this -- and I've yet to find any practice close to it in any city I've lived. They treat you like family and your teeth like royalty!

Pulled my wisdom teeth. Never forget . But did all and a fantastic job. Highly recommend.read more

Wife talked me into paying all out of pocket. Proposal claims 30-day pmt terms, but they made me pay 100% upfront. Went into procedure room, my blood pressure now through the roof. I walked out and got charged $250 for "missed" appt even though it was their last second change in billing policy. They were unable to refund any amount on my CC so I am now out of $ thousands and have to wait for a check in the mail. DO NOT sign the "no recourse" proposal with the estimates - it claims you are responsible regardless of insurance or not which covers them legally when they pull the rug down from you on insurance and billing. Very, very disappointed!!

Our insurance did not cover 100% so our cost was approximately $2500. Ok , The paper work said total was due within 90 days of service. Ok . However when we arrived for the surgery we were told no and complete amount was to be paid up front. Not happy , but whipped out the credit card and complained , was spoken to , but very unsatisfactory . She is told to come back in aprox 30 days to have teeth polished to remove treatment stains. Appt was not for that , just a light clean and inspection. Then scheduled to return , approximately 45 days to remove stains. Was reminded of appt right up to 4 hours prior. 50 miles one way , to be told , no , to soon to do work. Sent away with , oh soonest we can get you back is in 3 months. There is a great dissfunction within this office. We will go to one more appt. After that ,any follow up will be with a different periodontist. Beware ,

I have never had a bad experience with any doctor, until my experience with Dr. Hall. I was…read morereferred to Dr. Hall by my dentist to address recession on a single tooth, recession I had had for over 20 years-that was unchanging. I saw Dr. Hall for a gum graft to be proactive in my health. Perhaps things would have been fine, had I not had complications following the gum graft surgery. Unfortunately, I had several-including a blood clot/bleeding, swelling, bruising, infection, numbness, and pain. While I understand that complications can occur, that is not the reason for my complaint. My complaint is with Dr. Hall's extreme lack of professionalism and rude demeanor. At my two week follow-up appointment, Dr. Hall refused to discuss my list of concerns other than to say that everything would resolve over time. He showed zero compassion, but rather treated me with arrogance and disrespect. He then stated he would see me again in 8 weeks. With all the ongoing problems I was having, I was surprised by this and hesitated in my response. Dr. Hall then said, "Why are you rolling your eyes? Do you think we should see you every day?" (Again, this was at my two-week follow up appointment; I had not been to his office since the day of the procedure when I had to return an hour after surgery with a clot behind my tooth and a mouthful of blood). I was stunned by his rude response. I told Dr. Hall that I would go to my dentist for follow up, at which time he backtracked and said that I could come in as often as "I felt" it was necessary. By this time I just wanted out of his office. I have never returned. I have sought follow up through my dentist and another periodontist despite incurring additional out-of-pocket expenses. (I should note that I do not have dental insurance and that I paid Dr. Hall a total of $1540.00 -for a 15 minute consult and 30 minute graft (total appointment time). I have been to many doctors in my 52 years. I believe my expectations are reasonable. A two-way dialogue, respect, compassion, and aftercare. None of which I received.

This whole experience was bad, bordering on creepy…read more First, I called TWICE to verify not only that they accept our dental insurance, but also that they accept the rate at which the dental insurance pays. (Though it's not ethical, it IS legal for companies--because doctors and dentists are still companies--to charge MORE for their services than what is usual and customary for an insurance company to pay.) The woman I spoke to over the phone insisted they did. So, I made appointments for my two young daughters and went for it. We are new in town and have needed to get the kids to the dentist! The one star I am giving is for the hygienists, who was as sweet as can be and very kind. Then Dr. Feeney came in. His behavior was a bit bizarre from the get go. Babbling incessantly and trying to make friends in a weird way from the moment we came into the room. (What kind of a dentist gives kids CANDY before he looks at their teeth??!). Then, as he was trying to make my children comfortable he kept TOUCHING them. Seriously, don't tickle my kids. It is just not okay. No adult should ever touch a child without their direct consent, so the tickling really creeped me out. Then, when I tried to ask the Dr. a few questions about my kids' teeth, his response was both rude and condescending. When he began to sense that I was growing quite annoyed, he continued to babble on incessantly, for 10 minutes, about how I don't know him yet and that everyone likes him and that I just need to get to know him and then I will like him. Even this was condescending. And THEN when I went to check out, I was told we owed nearly $300 for this visit. I know my insurance, I know what it covers, and this visit should have been $100 MAX for both kids. Except that it turned out that they had done an extraordinary amount of unnecessary x-rays, without my consent. That is, instead of the normal series of 4 bite wings that are covered by my insurance, they preformed a series of panoramic x-rays, before even examining my children's teeth to see if there was a problem to look more deeply at. (I get that sometimes this might be necessary. But it is grossly unethical to preform something like this without reason and especially without first obtaining the paying guardian's consent!) I was livid. I cannot believe this guy has not been written up before for his unethical practices. Plus, well, given the Dr.'s demeanor ( DON'T TICKLE MY CHILDREN!!), I would never be comfortable leaving him alone in a room alone with a child. I think it's time for Dr. Feeney to retire.
