The lights were on in the store but the door was locked. I rang the doorbell several times and called the store serval times over a 5 min period thinking the person may have gone out to lunch. The recorder picked up each time but I was not able to leave a message because the mail box was full. I left and came back at 2:30, thinking maybe the person went out to lunch. I again rang the door bell several times and kept calling the store but no one answered. Finally, at 4 pm a young girl answered the phone but I was on the freeway headed home. I asked her what happened? She offered no reason for the store being locked and no one answering the phone. Valorie once had a thriving business and beautiful store back in the day when on Beverly Drive, but has since moved and down scaled twice and now is in a tiny poorly managed store by young girl who could care less about the company. If you refuse to pay a 20% gratuity then you fall under the cancellation policy which charges you 20% gratuity on top of the service cost. To me this is a red flag.

She told me to bring all of my make up and brushes and she would go through it all with me. I had gone to people to have my make up done but was excited to learn how to do it myself! When the day came for my make up lesson I went in with all my make up and brushes. She helped me get rid of stuff that didn't work for me or was just old and encouraged me to make a list of what make up we used and I liked as we went along. She did the first look, applying the make up showing me what kind of brush to use and what techniques to use when applying it. She checked in to ask me how it felt on my skin to make sure the products we chose (and I would later buy) were right. For the second look, she had me apply the make up and she videotaped the steps as we went along. She even offered to do it on her phone so she could clip it together for me into one video (which I greatly appreciated)! When we were all done, I had two great looks, I had gotten rid of stuff that I didn't need and I had a list of new brushes and make up to buy. She told me she would be happy to go with me go buy the make up at her discount stores the following week. I wasn't expecting this but I was so excited! She was awesome to work with and really helped me feel confident in my putting on my own make up. For the past two weeks I've been sending her pictures of me trying out different make up looks with what she taught me. She continues to cheer me on! A few days prior she requested a few inspirational looks for the shoot. She was able to replicate the looks along with adding a few details she felt would work with my looks for the shoot. This was the first time Shekinah applied my makeup and lets just say I was impressed with her skill. She was on time for the makeup application and stayed on set until the last shot was taken. She was not expected to stay but wanted to ensure I was happy with my look along the way. I am honored and happy I had the privilege of working with Shekinah and look forward to working with her in the near future.
