I get the gyro plate with sumac onions every single time because it's so dang good. And the saffron rice really brings it all together. Plus they give you a nice BIG pita on the side to eat it all with. I usually get two meals out of it.

I enjoy trying Mediterranean food at different spots. This one did not disappoint. I dined here for lunch with a friend who used to work with me at my job. It was a great place to catch up because the dining room was quiet. However, we both agreed that it was dark. They could stand to use some brighter lighting. The best part of the meal was the pita bread. When we placed our orders, the first thing that the employee did was put our pitas on a revolving hot stone. I had never seen anything like it before. The hot stone warmed up our pitas nicely. They were so hot that one pita released a fair bit of steam when the employee cut it open to start working on my friend's pita sandwich. Nothing says comfort like a warm pita in your mouth! I am trying to eat more falafel, so I ordered the falafel salad bowl. I was impressed that it was fried at the time of my order. However, the flavor and texture were underwhelming. I have gotten used to the intensely herb-y and toothsome falafel that I make at home. By contrast, these were bland and a bit mushy. However, the crunchy, cool salad and tahini dressing made up for what the falafel lacked. To finish up the salad, I stuffed the salad into my pita and made myself a delicious sandwich. I was curious about some of the premium toppings like the pickled turnips, but I didn't order them because I didn't want to pay the $1 upcharge for each additional premium topping. Overall, not bad. It would be great to visit again and try some of the meats on the menu and also some of their other dressings/spreads.

Ocean's Shark Bar & Grill - An original painting I made during a paint night at Ocean's.

Ocean's is the bar inside of a Best Western (or similar) hotel. Let's just get that out of the way,…read morebecause this place is great and I wouldn't want you to feel at sea pulling up to the parking lot. Sorry lol Dad jokes. My bar days are basically behind me, but Ocean's could about pull me out of retirement. They have the bar essentials of a cool staff who make folks feel genuinely welcome, strong-a** drinks, and awesome bar food, and hookahs (apart from the hookahs, it's non-smoking). Ocean's has regular events like karaoke on Tuesdays, Singalong Sundays, and the super-fun paint night that I attended. Paint night at Ocean's works like this: you register on Facebook, then you come in, grab a seat with your friends at a one of six round tables where you are provided with paints and a canvas. Then, you paint, order drinks and smoke a hookah if you want while everyone just paints whatever they feel like painting in a totally relaxed and friendly environment. By the time you have finished painting, the people at your table WILL be talking with folks at other tables and people will be going around checking out one another's efforts. It's great! If you get hungry waiting for your painting to dry, the wings are amazing, fresh and full-size (not party-size). We tried the recommended 1/2 and 1/2 lemon pepper and Buffalo sauce combo and did not regret it at all. The catfish is some of the best I've had--the fry is perfectly crispy cornmeal--and you can get it IN BUFFALO SAUCE. It's basically the best version of that imaginable. Later in the evening, the music level goes up and it turns into more of a club, but we went home before then. Ocean's is a hidden gem with great vibe.
