Being new to Houston, I had no idea where to go when I needed a doctor. Not too long after my move,…read moreI started having really, really bad shoulder pains. I found Dr. Odetunde online and called for an appointment. The secretary wasn't the friendliest, but she was still definitely nice. To my surprise, Dr. Odetunde was available for basically any time slot I wanted. At first, this worried me a little bit. After all, shouldn't a good doctor have a lot of other patients to see? I chalked it up as luck and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. The office is located right off of 610, just west of the Bennigan's and Ford dealership (right around Fannin I think?), in one of those huge office buildings. I didn't wait long at all, and Dr. Odetunde ended up being one of the nicest doctors I've ever met. She immediately figured out my problem (spasms) and sent me off with a couple of prescriptions and an x-ray order. After this visit, I saw her again for some sleeping problems and some injuries I got in a car accident. She remembers her patients and is very knowledgeable. I recommend her to anyone :) Now that I'm living in Ft. Worth, I miss having her as my doctor, even though I only saw her for a couple of months!

I have also been of a patient of NP Carol Manning. She & I go back even farther. I will always remember when I overheard Dr. K on the phone sticking up for me with a specialist. I probably would have been sent home if Dr. Knafo had not insisted that something was wrong because she knew me so well. And that I was a good patient. So she sent me for some tests that same day & I had to be hospitalized for a week. I had developed an infection from a procedure I had with that specialist. I even had to have surgery because the fever would not break. I also remember one of her doctors calling my father on a Saturday to inquire on how he was feeling. We had seen Dr. G. Loya the day before. I was impressed & touched because she was so sincere about his well being. I see Dr. K or Carol Manning every year for my well woman exam & for any health issues during the year. I have not ever had any problems with the office staff. At my last visit 2 weeks ago, I had a sinus issue, my wait time was 15 minutes, the entire visit took about 40 minutes by the time I was back to my car. I don't think that was bad. I'm not crazy about the parking though. I usually have to park in a lot for $5.00.

This practice seems to bite off more than it can chew. I've been a patience for about 3 years,…read moresince leaving home for university. Although I am a patient of Dr. Knafo, I've only spoken to her 3 of the minimum 9 times I had appointments. The other visits I was seen by two other female doctors. Now this isn't a big issue if you are going for smaller concerns like check ups and well woman exams but I had a continuous stomach issue that the lack of consistency in visits very negatively effected. I ran the same tests multiple times and explained the same symptoms/reactions to the doctors each visit and we ran in circles. I understand this is a family practice and not a specialist, but at some point it's up to the doctors to admit they don't know and refer me to someone else. It took a year of this before I broke down crying and begged for them to refer me. I would like to commend Dr. Knafo on what she is TRYING to do. When I did get to meet with her she was very caring and serious about my mental health. ( I have anxiety and depression ) Although, I believe this effected her judgement a little too much, I often felt like she wouldn't take my other physical health concerns seriously until I started taking medication as she strongly urged for me to start taking lexipro whenever I saw her. I've been doing well with my mental health, and would often express to her the reason behind my being so wound up and on the verge of tears in her office is because I was a 19 year old college student battling a mystery issue and running the same tests every visit. Making appointments is easy, everything else over the phone is hit or miss depending on if they feel like taking your call at that time.

When I needed extra paperwork for a mail-in prescription, the staff helped me get it done and submitted. Would recommend to others!

Oh, wow. I'm in gyno heaven!…read more Okay, that was creepy. But seriously, after today's awesome appointment, I knew I had to Yelp her immediately (even though it is midnight and I'm seriously lacking in sleep). After my last debacle with obgyn doctors (ahem), I was more than excited to find a doctor that could get me (a new patient) an appointment within a week of calling. Whoa. Unheard of! The parking is no fun in this area, though I suppose I could've taken the light rail. The parking garage I chose started at $4 for the first half hour which hurt a little. I walked over, found the office easily (though the building really could use a map of some sort to ensure people choose the right tower). The staff was friendly and they got my paperwork done pretty quickly. They had a small waiting room with a tv playing a movie (Rumour Has It, if you're curious). I got there about fifteen minutes early for my 9:30 appointment, but wasn't seen until about 10:15. No biggie since I'm used to waiting much, much longer. When I was seen, the nurse was quick and efficient though not overly friendly. Again, no biggie since I know how many patients they process in a day. What really blew me away was that Dr. Whittier actually took the time to talk to me. Actually talk. And not just about my medical history. I'm not saying that we had a life changing heart to heart, but I we exchanged more words in my one meeting with her than I have with all my previous obgyn experiences put together. The exam was fast and easy and they do their pap smear results over the phone on an automated system (wait, is that too much info for Yelp?) which is fantastic. THEN as I'm leaving, I get a goodie bag. A goodie bag of free stuff! (It was very reminiscent of going to the orthodontist as a teenager.) She actually gave me three months worth of birth control for free! WHAT!?!??!?! Okay, I know it is strange to get excited about medication, but seriously, think about all the co-pays I just saved!!!!!! Yeah, I'm a nerd. But great bedside manner, close to work, AND free stuff?! I'm sold.

At no point was I informed about the necessity, cost, or purpose of these tests, nor was I asked for consent before they were performed. This lack of transparency is concerning and, in my opinion, unacceptable in a healthcare setting where patients should be fully informed about their care and any associated costs. When I followed up to address the issue, I did not receive a satisfactory explanation or resolution. Patients should not have to deal with unexpected charges for services they did not agree to. I recommend that anyone visiting this office ask detailed questions and confirm all procedures and costs in advance to avoid similar issues.

I got a notice the next morning that they needed to talk to me about my appointment request. They called me while I was in a meeting, though it only rang 2-3 times with no voicemail left to indicate what additional information was needed. I attempted to call them back twice to discuss the issue and no one answered and there was no voicemail box for me to leave a message so they cancelled my appointment. It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing to make an appointment for an issue and the office not answer multiple call attempts to resolve an issue that is unclear in the first place.
