I chose Hamill's B&B initially for location, and because from the website, I could also tell it is…read morevery well run with lovely rooms. Neither aspect let me down! I was traveling alone internationally, a US citizen without car, and could see on maps that it is right on Ballinamore's main street. Though the home is tucked away on a long driveway, slightly distanced from the main road and surrounded by trees and greens, the address is still on the same street with many restaurants and bars, so that it was easy for me to obtain meals, and village activity would be accessible by foot. In this way it was perfect! The Chinese restaurant is especially, remarkably delicious... and I've even lived on the US's west coast, for comparison. Additionally I chose Hamill's because of the proximity to the Leitrim Genealogy Centre. I loved being able to stop in to meet a staff member there for an application. And also just a few steps away is the library. Though closed to in-person visits due to the pandemic, I was able to work on researching family history at both spots mostly via email. Other guests with cars spent day hours hiking the gorgeous land nearby. The trail by the canal, again just off main street, is an option for those without a car and is beautiful to explore. I spent some time at Garadice Lake as well, which was wonderful. But I have not mentioned enough about the actual B&B; it's fabulous. Damien and Bernadette are so very welcoming and accommodating. Damien mentioned to me how much he loves running the B&B and it certainly shows. As far as breakfast, he went out of his way to address my special diet needs without batting an eye. The breakfast is nearly too much, with so many delicious choices. I probably should not say anything more about how much both Damien and Bernadette went above and beyond their expected roles... because it would not be fair to encourage guests to expect all that they did to make my stay memorable, meaningful and comfortable. But I'll just say they both made sure I had everything I needed, and was able to experience all that I had set out to do while staying in Ballinamore. Additionally my room was absolutely lovely--lovely enough that one of my days, I enjoyed staying in and reading! I would highly recommend a stay at Hamill's and I would return there in a heartbeat, if given the chance. - Becky

While traveling with family we booked this through the internet & as always you hope your going to…read morea nice place. Hamills B & B is truly SUPERB! Immaculate, service oriented, comfortable rooms, great beds, nice private bathrooms, there was nothing more we could ask for! The price was half the cost of some 4 star hotels we visited on this 2 week tour, but they were no where near as nice as Hamills! Bernadette went out of her way at every opportunity to provide a level of service I have not experienced since traveling on Cunard in the princess grill suites. Upon arriving back to the B& B after having visited family & touring the farms of my grandparents in the rain, Bernadette brought a pot of tea & Cadburry fingers into the lounge for us to warm up and relax before heading back into the rain & more family visits! While many hotels have been "chilly" or just plain cold we had to request they lower their heat because our 4 rooms were so hot & we didn't want to open windows. Bernadette said not to worry to be comfortable! A TRULY AMAZING PLACE TO STAY!

Ive been to Oxygen 3 times, the last ever Witness and Electric Picnic twice and I think I wont be going to these again for a few years at least. I like Electric Picnic but I really think this place tops it. At just 80 euro for 3 days I dont know how you can go wrong. The train service down to Sligo was very good and the most impressive part was the regular bus shuttles running to and from the venue. (taking 20 minutes) .The lads driving the buses were understanding of mud and said go on shur crack open a can if ya fancy it to my astonishment. Im not the biggest fan of camping so I stayed in a B and B in Sligo town. But by all accounts the free camping conditions were brilliant despite all the rain the nights before the gig. I was in a few tents and they were all comfortable. They had lockers for your stuff(think it was a tenner) and good showers. There was a hari krishna lady with no shoes and socks and about 10 bags who blagged her way in saying shed won a ticket. I felt sorry for her and carried her bags about but she got a spare tent from somewhere and was fine.Got trapped on the train with her on the way back which was akward(sandwich short of a picnic) Now for what made it such a great festival. The size, the amount of activities and great bands but most importantly the really sound people there. I didnt meet 1 person there who wasnt having a good time and in the mood for partying. A great atmosphere in the day and friendly drunkeness at night. There was a lot of families there having a great time with all the activities in the walled garden(list is endless) and this was separate from the area with the 2 main stages. The food there was very good. I tried out most of the stalls and the food was grand. They had a cool area where they served very good cocktails too. The beer you can get on tap there is tennants which isnt very good(I find it gives you heartburn and doesnt taste very nice but they give you plastic cups and one of the lads working there looked after a few beers I had brought at the entrance to the stages. The atmosphere was absolutely brilliant and its small enough that you will bump into people you met before and have great fun. I think all the bands there gave it their all and I spent a small fortune on cds I havnt got around to listening to. The silent disco was brilliant fun, the performers and the crowd brought the best out of eachother but the inspired choice of having The Wailers as the last act gives it 5 stars plus. The craic was 90.
