I'm so glad I went with guitar lessons and voice lessons at louder! The voice teacher helped me transcend and break through so many of my self limiting beliefs and the guitar teacher actually helped me with music production and recording lessons as well so I could start recording my songs and putting together my own home music studio. It's been so fun and meaningful. It's also super exciting to see a platform that has piano lessons, guitar lessons, AND urban horticulture lessons. Louder is an amazing place for creative learning and growth, and I really appreciate Louder's ethos for both students and teachers. Their approach fosters a great environment for learning in music and the arts, and it's been amazing to grow via vocal lessons in Los Angeles. read more

I had the pleasure of taking voice lessons with Simha and I could not believe how much I improved because of it!! I am primarily an instrumentalist (piano and flute) who dabbles in singing. It was great since Simha is also a multi-instrumentalist, they understood where I was coming from and how to correlate techniques like breathe control with my primary instrument, the flute. Simha is a very generous and caring teacher but knows when to push and challenge me. Along with vocal lessons , Simha took the time to incorporate vocal production lessons where we dove into how bgvs fit into a song, stacking vocals, singing in tune and pronunciation. I highly recommend Simha esp if you're a singer, producer or want to learn more in the jazz, rnb, soul realm. read more

I'd wanted to learn piano since I was a child, but my family couldn't afford lessons. After years of thinking I was too old to learn music as an adult, I decided to go for it. I worked with a different teacher for a short time and when she moved out of state, I turned to Yelp to find new piano lessons. I'm so glad I did because that's how I found Lorie! I've been working with her for about 8 months now and she's truly the best. Lorie works with students of ALL ages, catering her sheet music, lessons, and approach to each individual student. She has a convenient studio in Echo Park, or she does in-home or FaceTime lessons. I've had a mix of all 3 and most of my lessons have been through video, which I honestly was worried wouldn't be as effective, but they've been just as great as in-person lessons (and I don't have to clean my house beforehand!) The first time Lorie came over for a lesson, I was impressed by the meticulous level of detail and preparation she had put into the first visit. She had asked me in advance for a list of songs I wanted to learn and brought an organized binder with resources (circle of fifths, warm-up exercises in each key, etc) printed sheet music for the songs I wanted, which she had researched and found the best arrangement for my level, other songs she thought would be good to learn based on my musical taste, spaces for notes, and recommendations for books and resources to buy. If there is a song I want to learn or new music I find, she encourages me to scan it to her so that she can re-work anything she needs to to adjust it to my skill level. Lorie will work with you and be understanding if you're a busy adult who can only promise one or two practice times a week, if you have questions about a song or get stuck between lessons, or whatever happens in life that might throw things off. If a song we are working on isn't sounding right, she will re-write the notes on the spot so that it's easier to learn or sounds the best that it can. What I love about her is that she is passionate about helping her students to truly understand music theory and the fundamentals of how songs are structured, learning how chords are built and commonly used chords, etc. other than just learning to play the songs alone. In the short time I've worked with her, I've really been proud of my the progress of my sightreading skills and how quickly I can put a song together. I've felt comfortable sitting down at pianos and playing melodies without sheet music at social gatherings. One of my goals is to play the grand piano at Union Station (ever notice how everyone who plays that one is REALLY good?) and I feel like Lorie's style of "teaching a man/woman how to fish" will really pay off in my understanding of music in the long term. Not only is Lorie an impressive, dedicated lifelong musician and amazing teacher, she is sweet, kind, compassionate, and truly cares about her students as well as her craft. I'd highly recommend her to any music student of any age! Thanks for helping me to realize a lifelong dream, Lorie! read more

I have taken singing lessons with Simha for a few months and it was the best experience I've ever had! Not only did I see some improvement in my singing techniques, but overall enjoyed the approach that he had taken. I get nervous when singing around others and I relayed that to him. So he created a safe, welcoming and fun environment that allowed me to open up and get the best out of my lessons! One of the best teachers I've had so far! Highly recommend! read more

I have been taking piano lessons virtually with Sophia for two months now, and I'm so impressed! I learned some piano basics as a child and then had a long gap before trying to get into it again, and I was finding it difficult to remain engaged when trying to learn new songs. Sophia has offered me different approaches to learning music--and even for writing my own songs--that have been both creatively stimulating and much more efficient. She thinks about music very holistically, so every lesson we think about a piece from a different perspective. I highly recommend lessons with Sophia if you are looking for new inspiration to play around with music again! read more

I love seeing this platform for music and art lessons that includes mindfulness and meditation. Having a private and meditation practice for decades has taught me the importance of going inward for artistic inspiration. It has been so helpful in allowing the flow of creating to go beyond the practical side of creating music. I have worked personally with the platform creator and find her to be very thoughtful in her process and committed to working with students who are looking for different avenues towards artistic expression. read more

I'm so glad I got my fiancé piano lessons with louder because she is loving them and the approach has been such a great fit for her! Where most music schools in Los Angeles and New York are still teaching students in a more traditional way, the lessons at louder have given my fiancé the tools and confidence to go inward and write her own songs and record them with some music production lessons on top of playing the kinds of songs she really loves with her piano teacher. I'm excited to see they have horticulture and chess lessons, too!! read more

I live in East Los Angeles and take piano lessons with Daniel, and I really enjoy them. It's 30 minutes a week (you can adjust your the time to however long you want your lesson to be). He does an amazing job of helping me progress without overwhelming me. He will explain things to me in different ways if I'm not understanding right away, and he's very patient. I took piano growing up and I really disliked it. I've never enjoyed piano as much as I do now. Daniel is a great piano teacher. read more

It has been such a genuine pleasure working with them and getting our hands in the dirt, which is always satisfying. My tomato, eggplant, basil, and rosemary plants are thriving! read more

Thank you Lorie for being the best piano instructor for our daughters! Our girls been learning piano from Lorie for 2+ years and it's been nothing but the best. Our daughters started young, at 5 yrs and 7 yrs and never have I heard them complain about their lesson time, they absolutely love learning piano from Lorie. As an instructor, Lorie is thorough, well structured and knowledgeable but the true magical key is her patience and ability to make learning fun for young kids...in person and virtual (FaceTime or Skype) lessons! If you're eager to learn or have your children learn piano, Laurie is very accommodating to your schedule and will always work to make lesson time possible. My daughters are learning to play piano at a natural and manageable pace, it's becoming part of their daily life and enjoy their lessons and practice time as a result. Thank you Lorie!!! read more

Lorie is a fantastic teacher and should be your top choice! I took piano lessons from her as an adult learner who had previous training on other instruments (mandolin and symphonic percussion). I particularly appreciated how she could help me learn by drawing analogies from other instruments to jump-start my progress. I also really valued how Lorie took a parallel approach with my learning. On one hand, she taught me to be an intuitive learner, thinking about how the music works. On the other hand, she and I worked off of sheet music and theory to support my technical learning. As a result, I have a much better feel for playing to go with my fundamentals of how to play. Even more than her pedagogical approach, I can't say how much I enjoyed the time we had together. She is a great and wonderful person who makes you love playing music together - I always looked forward to my lessons. When I was moving out of town, Lorie even played at my going-away party -- she is just that awesome. read more

I WISH Lorie had taught me piano lessons when I was my daughter Julia's age. In short she's an amazing piano teacher. Patient and kind - even with a sometimes fussy teenager. The best part is my daughter is playing amazingly well. Every time I hear her practice songs filling our house with music from LA LA Land my heart swells with pride. Lorie's as good as it gets - oh and most of Julia's lessons are via SKYPE. Which work out perfectly for our schedules. Her prices are a bargain for the love and attention she puts into her work. I've even recommended her to a neighbor who loves her as much as my daughter. Our family can't recommend Lorie and Silver Lake Piano Lessons enough. read more

Louder - Lorie with our daughter and her friend after a "jam session" at our house. She's awesome and makes music so much fun. - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me

Lori has been my piano teacher for over a year and I'm so grateful for her way of teaching. With her guidance, I've learned and grown so much with the piano. She's also very accommodating. Since the coronavirus outbreak I became scared and wanted to do online piano lessons only. Since she already does that with other students it was an easy transition. Now we facetime our sessions and it's been great and I feel safe. read more

I have been helping Lorie on a Real Estate endeavor, and having taken piano lessons when I was a kid, decided to take a couple lessons again with her. What an inspirational teacher! I feel like I learned more in two days than I would have in two weeks with anyone else! Lorie is such a sweetheart and I would seriously recommend her to anyone! She informed me she is also a piano teacher for kids when I was talking about my 17-month-old son! He will be taking his own lessons with her in a few years. Then! She told me she had given mandolin lessons in the past as well! I picked up the mandolin when I was 6 and definitely plan on revisiting it when I have some time. Moral of the story? Lorie is awesome. read more

Lorie at Silver Lake Piano is our dream piano teacher! Our daughter wanted to learn how to play piano, but she is easily discouraged and we were worried that it would be difficult to find a teacher to match her personality. Rather than boring drills, our daughter came home from the first lesson playing a beautiful song and has never looked back. Lorie peppers in theory, different styles and keeps the joy of music front and center in every lesson. We've recommended her to friends and all of them adore her. During hectic school months she even offers lessons via Skype so we don't have to drive in traffic when we have little time what with hours of homework and after-school commitments. What a great option!!! read more

The piano instructor is amazing!! I'm generally very poorly coordinated so playing an instrument like the piano seemed like adaunting challenge. But the piano lessons covered incremental steps and it broke down the organization of the keys and the different notes enough for me to practice at home. Above all, she was naturally very patient and used a number of didactic tools like flash cards that even when I would have learning blocks I was able to cover ground in different areas of piano instruction! I highly highly recommend this place to anyone, especially those who think they're not musically inclined (as I once I thought I was). read more

Lorie Bromley was sent to me by the universe to save me from myself and the other piano teachers who have kept me away from the keys. She is powerful, patient [but pushes you to what she knows is your potential] , intelligent, warm, and motivating. Lorie literally wants to make your music dreams come true and caters each piano lesson to the student - to ensure that everyone's goals are met. I am a songwriter/recording artist and Lorie has helped me take control of my music in a way that has really changed the game for me. In just months I had a better grasp on my songs and was able to accompany myself, with better arrangements than I ever imagined. Learning from someone who makes me feel so emotionally and physically safe and taken care of is a true gift. She's the first piano teacher I would recommend to my friends with children who want to learn. Definitely the best piano teacher for kids out there. Lorie embodies music and love. I couldn't recommend her more highly. read more
