We came directly to this Coopérative after visiting the Laguiole factory down the road. The tour is…read morefree and runs every half hour in the summer. We were a small group, which was nice. The tour is only in French but we were able to follow along for the most part here.
You start with a 15-minute video that gives you a bit of history of the Fromagère, its process, and its people. It's extremely well-made actually, and it would have been nice to have subtitles. We're not saying that as annoying Americans, by the way! There must be plenty of other visitors from other countries who don't speak French.
Next you go down a long hallway that has windows into various parts of the cheesemaking process, and then...cheese tasting! The cheese here is glorious! We loved each one that we tried and ended up getting a nice cooler sack for future picnic use. The woman assured us that we could bring cheeses home with us on the flight and they would still be fine...but ask us in a few days.
