I was talking to the bartenders, patrons, and bouncers and they were all very friendly. I was just gonna stay in my hotel room and I was glad to have such a welcoming experience. HOWEVER, please watch out for two people that said their names are Dominique and Joey. I was trying to be friendly with them and as a common courtesy, got the first round. The bartender even made a local Victorian drink (which tasted like chocolate milk). However, when the bar closed, we went next door to get more drinks. I figured, common courtesy, someone else will get the next round, but we got separate tabs. When the bill came, the two ran out. The local that introduced me to them paid for their bill, but I gave a $20 USD and hope that was enough to cover their share. The bar is a great place and I would definitely go back. As a person who comes from the pretentious city of LA (and is always cautious of being hustled), I have never had such a genuine introduction to Canadians. However, please watch out for those two. I loved how the bar even had a pay it forward drink chalk board. You can prepay for drinks for future patrons. Had I stayed longer, I was going to buy drinks for the people I met there (and would have been a great Thank you for the locals since I was only there for one night). However, do watch out for these two scammers. I would never want what had happen to me happened to other visitors. Despite this, continue to support Lucky Bar as the staff is fantastic.

Make sure to get you and your pals on guest list to avoid the lines. The staff at Lucky are awesome and I've seen them put up with a lot. As most bar staff usually do when dealing with hundreds of intoxicated guests. The bartenders are all super friendly and efficient. Make sure to ask them to do a shot out of the shot-ski. The bar itself is fairly small. There's one large bar and the dance floor fills up fairly quickly. Hence why there are such long lines. I found that whenever I went to Lucky's I ran into tons of people I knew. Maybe that's just the university scene though. I haven't been to a 90's night in forever and I kind of miss it. I had some tasty, cheap beers on tap and danced like a total fool, exactly the things that I need to live a fun-filled, funk-filled life! Also, one thing that totally threw me off was the padding around the bar. We watched as every single table filled up quickly in a rather large place - they even turned away people without reservations. Not really a bad seat in the house for viewing (you can ask to sit away from stage so you're not picked on!). Lots of great talent traveling through (check website for upcoming acts). They ask you to be polite during the show so everyone can hear the stage. It seems everyone orders food at the same time - right before the opening act. You are sitting there for a few hours to watch the show so food on the table makes sense. In spite of the chaos, it's a pretty well run establishment. We ordered nachos and although it took awhile we hardly minded because we were preoccupied with the stand up (which was hilarious!). The nachos were surprisingly large and in charge, typical pub grub fare. Hard to track down a server for refills because they are busy hurrying back and forth from kitchen. A great place for comedy night belly laughs! Tip: tee up tab at bar right before act is over to save yourself a big lineup.

After a super busy week or a really hard final, getting a good group of friends together and popping over to Fel's for a drink can feel like settling into the nicest recliner in your childhood home after Thanksgiving dinner. ... Okay maybe not THAT amazing, but sitting down for a drink at Fel's can be pretty fun. They have food and drink specials on every day, bringing their price down dramatically. Honestly, I don't know many people that order outside of the specials when they come in and I'm not quite sure whether to attribute that to the great savings or the student budgets. ;) I should add that this location definitely shows their campus pub status, as the food is a bit lackluster, but their awesome deals and the events that they throw offset this enough for me not to mind. Every Thursday night, they have an awesome karaoke night where - and I'm proud to say it - I have belted out Smash Mouth's All Star in front of a raving crowd, and it. felt. exhilarating. But make sure to put your song request in early and be prepared to wait a while because Fel's gets pretty dang busy, and pleeenty of people are looking to sing. Also got to sit and listen to some of the most angelic voices I've heard in a long time. It was a nice, chill place where I could escape for a bit. Definite highlight on my trip from Seattle.
