You cross the threshold... and realize almost immediately that Los Osorio is definitely not going to be yet another of those eminently forgettable run-of-the-mill eateries. How do you know? You're not quite sure... but there's just something about this charming single room establishment that rings a bell ... Just something. Perhaps it's the colorful ornamentations that catch your eye... Perhaps. But even more to the point is the setup of the room itself - the cozy arrangement of booths and tables - that feels so warm, comfortable, pristine... special. Seldom have I been so taken with a restaurant... and even before being seated. Pleasant, knowledgeable service is another plus. However, it is ultimately the outstanding quality and preparation of authentic Mexican cuisine that truly sets this establishment apart. The menu here is quite extensive - including desserts and kids' meals - with all the usual South of the Border suspects present and accounted for. Your gastronomic journey begins with Sides & Starters and then moves on through such familiar rubrics as Tacos... Salads... Burgers, Tortas, Flautas... Burritos & Quesadillas, and House Plates. Trust me, plenty of choices to keep you happy. However, you would do well be bear in mind that portion sizes here are more than generous, occasionally bordering on the humongous... like the chimichanga, for instance (pictured). Since at the outset you will probably be ingesting a significant amount of complimentary house-made chips & salsa, and also, perhaps, planning to finish up with dessert, discretion may, indeed, be the better part of valor. In other words, skip the starters, saving yourself a few bucks in the process, and head straight for the main course. Trust me on this... Unless you just happen to possess the appetite of a starving yak, you will, undoubtedly, still end up toting home a doggie bag. One additional thought... As I noted above, the quality of the cuisine here is consistently first-rate. But any restaurant, no matter how excellent in scope and highly regarded it may be, is still - in contrast to all its culinary pluses - somehow capable of concocting a dish that is destined to become its singular point of weakness, its "Achilles heel" so to speak. In the case of Los Osorio, this turned out to be one of their highly-touted "House Plates": Grilled Salmon. There was certainly nothing amiss with the accompaniments, as the rather dashing combo of pico de gallo and freshly cut mango added its own unique exotic flavor to the festivities. As did the filet's irresistible orange zest glaze. Unfortunately, the problem was the salmon filet itself. Pale of color and tasteless, it had fallen victim to finny fare's most nefarious saboteur... overcooking. And not just a touch overdone either. No, the dense dry flesh told the story, and it was not a pretty one. A steak knife would have come in handy. Achilles heel notwithstanding, however, Los Osorio still has a great deal to offer and is, in my opinion, definitely worthy of a visit. And should you decide to pay a call, my piece of advice is relatively simple... Stick with the more traditional Mexican fare - tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tamales, fajitas, enchiladas, etc. - and you certainly can't go wrong. But I would also suggest that you leave room for dessert. The sweet endings here are quite diverse and run the gamut from South of the Border favorites - Trés Leches, Churros filled with strawberry, apple, or caramel; Sopapillas served with vanilla ice cream powdered sugar, strawberries and side of caramel or chocolate sauce - to more traditional options such as Cheesecake and Triple Chocolate Cake. My own personal recommendations represent a bit of both worlds... If you enjoy ice cream in all its various forms and permutations, for example, then I would go straight for the luscious Fried Ice Cream (pictured on left). Garnished with chocolate & caramel sauces, whipped cream, and cherry crown, this eminently shareable dessert is guaranteed to satisfy those creamy cravings. On the other hand, if you're a tad more adventurous of palate, the Cheesecake Taco (pictured on right) also has a great deal to offer. Homemade lemon cheesecake is nestled inside a cinnamon & sugar dusted flour tortilla, dotted with strawberries, blueberries, chocolate chips, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The result is simply not to be missed. If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, as I mentioned above, Los Osorio is definitely worth a visit... Just don't forget to BYOB. read more

It was a beautiful sunset and weather, 2 weekends ago. Our craving for outside dining and Mexican food brought us to Los Osorio. We were accommodated by a table outdoors. The restaurant overall was about 3/4 full, around our 7-7:30pm walk-in arrival. We were greeted by our server. She promptly gave us water and additional glasses with ice for our BYOs. There seemed to be confusion on service with other tables, in overheard chatter of multiple servers visiting the same tables. However, we were unaffected. We kept inhaling chips- crisp and ungreasy. In order to justify these baskets we ordered more sides- queso and guacamole. The queso was smooth, a little too thin as it ran off the chip. We are a family of scoopers so the guac was our preferred dip. It was chunky and bright, minimal lime with perfectly ripened avocado. Onto the main event- My husband ordered the special fajita quesadilla and I Osorio tacos, 2 shrimp and 1 chorizo. He enjoyed his quesadilla and even as leftover. Very good, filled full with stuffing of peppers and beef & filled full with flavor. My tacos though- dynamite!! These were the best tortillas I have ever had. Homemade for sure. Airy but dense. They weren't a delivery vessel, they had their standalone flavor. Exceptional. The tacos were simple, well cooked and fresh. The cilantro and onions were finely diced together in topping. A traditional taco is a chance and an adventure for me as not being a cilantro lover. But this fine dice preparation tasted more of an herb blend, rather than a topping. Esquites Mexican corn was creamy from cotija & mayo & had a nice bite from the lime & chile- had to stop myself from eating whole bowl like it was Frosted Flakes. Enchiladas Poblanos (w/ Al Pastor in red sauce) was decorated w/ fresh lettuce & radish slices & came w/ a small shredded veggie salad, rice, & beans. The creamy cool of the veggies balanced the heat of the red chiles. Chips & salsa were refreshed during our meal & had a nice freshness from the cilantro. This place could benefit from a bar- I greatly missed having a margarita to wash all the food down, & if you're looking for spice the heat level is pretty subdued. Our first time, despite being relatively close because we don't usually go to BYOB places. The service was excellent. The booths and chairs are very ornate and cool looking. That said. The Birria soft Tacos were not great, meat was really tough. Seems like it was slow cooked too fast when you slow cook something at a high temperature too fast. It looks like it broke down into a pulled beef texture, but it actually is very dry and tough to swallow. In order for the fat to soften the meat, something needs to be slow cooked on lower heat for longer. We love the outdoor dining experience. The inside was very cute but a little too crowded and too hot for us on a Saturday night. We would try this restaurant again because we saw somebody get fajitas and they looked very good even though I did not like my meal. My boyfriend said his burrito was good, but he didn't like the fact it had corn in it and it would've been better with black beans instead of what looked like kidney beans to me. The food was not spicy at all which we thought was strange. I tried to ask for jalapeño peppers and was met with kind of blank stairs. They had something they called hot salsa, but it was more like a hot sauce of sorts. We wondered if maybe authentic Mexican isn't spicy? I went here with the family and it was interesting in a good a bad way. Burger I got was terrible, bottom bun was just filled with the juice from the burger. Had to take it off and they is was just "eh". However I do recommend the tacos. They were pretty good, had a nice selection of meats to put in the tacos as well. Our family came here for Christmas Eve lunch. We have heard many wonderful things about this place and were excited to check it out. The restaurant was super clean and beautifully decorated inside. We were seated right away. The waitress was super attentive and made sure we were all taken care of. They provided complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was perfect. Mild with a hint of sweetness. We ordered several dishes and kids meals. The kids burrito and cheesy quesadilla were both large portions and the kids loved it! The rice and beans were also delicious. I think the kids would have preferred the fries than the rice with their meal and next time we will switch it up. It did not go to waste, we brought home the leftovers and enjoyed it the next day. My husband ordered chicken tamales with rice and beans. He enjoyed the entree, but it was not his favorite. Next time he will do pork instead of chicken. We also had their street corn, which was so good and prepared perfectly! I should have ordered several for the family. We also had their poblano fries as an appetizer. They were good, but we will try another starter next time. It didn't stand out like their other menu items. Lastly, I ordered the Birria tacos. They were amazingly good!! This will be my go to meal each time I come here. They double wrapped the meat and put a beautiful layer of cucumber and cilantro seasoning on top. We order take out from Los Osorio every few weeks at the very least and every item is super tasty and fresh. From their standard tacos (get ready for Taco Tuesdays when they setup outside and sling them tacos for the masses), to their latest birria creation that is sweeping the nation (3 for $10!), mammoth burritos, fresh guacamole, yummy salsa, dessert tacos, there are so many items to try. They offer very good deals for family meals too if you want to take the night off from cooking. As with most restaurants right now, these sorts of places are short staffed and always looking for more staff, so be patient if your order takes longer than quoted or a mistake is made. They will make things right to keep you satisfied and your meal will be hot and fresh when it arrives. read more

Ahhhhh not so Mexican yes it's hard to please someone from the southwest but there is better out there the only plus is 1. They have chili releno, which is hard to find here.... 2. They have Tres Leches which again is hard to find here but their food is decent but not worth the cost at all.....plus there's so many people working but our waitress was held up so long I decided I didn't want to wait for the tres leches maybe next time.....I wouldn't say never but not as a family lol read more

Cannot adequately describe how solid this place is. Within two or three visits it became my boyfriend's and I's go-to for takeout, dine-in, and recommendations for out of town friends. Service is fantastic, atmosphere is super fun, and the food is amazing. My boyfriend and I always get the house plates, and between the chips and salsa, salad, and the side of rice and refried beans, we always have leftovers. Cannot recommend enough. I have been there 3 times now. The first 2 times were pretty good, the third time was beyond awful. I had enchiladas, which I order most Mexican places I go. The sauce tasted like REALLY BAD TV dinner spaghetti sauce. It was awful. I'm not a picky person by any stretch and can eat most things. I could barely get down half of one enchilada before feeling gaggy and there was no chance I could stomach any more. The waitress came to check on us and asked "is there something wrong?" I said "Yes, it's just so bad. I described what it tasted like and that I was inedible." She just responded "ok," then took my plate, walked away and brought me my full price bill. No offer to get something else, no discount, no removing it from the bill, no sending a manager, just "ok" and a $20 charge (which is already expensive for enchiladas) for inedible food. This little restaurant is a Pottstown gem! Our dinner experience tonight was excellent! We chose to sit at their outside area and it was just so cute and cozy with lights, flowers and pretty decor. I wish I remembered our waitress' name but she was awesome. She helped my hubby with all his menu questions was just very nice and helpful. A few other employees helped with keeping chips and salsa coming and just checked in to make sure everything was okay. The food was amazing and as others have said, very large portions! I ordered the special which was 3 enchiladas each with a different sauce. Soo good!!! My favorite was the green sauce but the mole and red sauce were great as well. Apple churros were part of the special, otherwise I probably wouldn't have ordered a dessert because I was so full. When I ordered the street corn queso, it came in a tiny little container about the 3rd of what I would receive every other time I ordered. I paid $13 dollars for a half cup of queso. Yes, I measured. Who does that?! When I called, they assured me that it was the same size. There is no way.... The container wasn't even made of the same material that I got the last 3 times I went. It's the fact that they messed up and tried to blame me for the mistake. Of course I have a free queso when I go there next time, but there won't be a next time. This place from day one about three weeks ago when my wife and I first visited Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant. Was a very pleasant experience, sure they were busy from the moment we arrived. People waiting outside, in their vehicles for their curb side pick-ups. We noticed they had a patio with outdoor seating and asked if we could wait for a table. We gave our name and phone number in hopes to get a table. After 30 minutes it was obvious we were not going to get seated soon and my wife was hungry, so we decided to order to go, the waitress handed us a menu and from the looks of this menu it was professionally done and was done right just the right amount of meals on the menu to choose from not over whelming. I am sure in the future they will be adding and removing items as most new restaurants do. We ordered the Enchilada Dinner that included 4 delicious enchiladas covered in the most perfectly made mole sauce not to spicy and just as delicious as my grandmothers recipe the dinner included plenty of rice and beans also authentically made and very tasty as if you were eating them in Mexico, my wife ordered the Diabla shrimp platter included a dozen shrimp, covered in spicy mild hot sauce my wife said she will order it more spicy next time she really loves this dish and said it was the best she had so far, also included were freshly made rice and beans and a fresh dinner salad. We also order 2 chile relleno's dipped in the perfect amount of egg batter and stuffed with steak and cheese again mouthwatering. We definitely are planning to dine there again this time going to try to get a table on the patio. (FOLLOW UP, SECOND VISIT AT Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant My wife and I went back on Saturday evening and we ordered another great meal my wife ordered Pancho Tacos, fresh Sea Bass Tacos Choice of deep-fried fish or shrimp with red cabbage, pico de gallo and chipotle that I had to try so my wife shared a bite and it was awesome juicy and the best fish taco i tasted even better then the fish tacos I use to eat in Rosarito Beach in Mexico. My meal was simple i ordered the Torta Steak Sandwhich it doesn't seem like a big meal but let me tell you it was so delicious and filling i had to take the second half home and enjoyed it for Lunch the next day the ingredients are Choice of beef (i choose the steak because they use Rib-eye steak) milanesa, but you can choose from chicken milanesa, grilled chicken, grilled steak, al pastor or carnitas. Comes with lettuce, tomato, avocado, jalapenos, oaxaca cheese and red or green salsa on sour dough bread. The bread was fresh. Along with our fresh chips and salsa and our frozen mango drinks it was a perfect evening our waitress was very experienced and polite from the moment we arrived we spent a total of 35 minutes for our meal and spent another 40 minutes enjoying every bite of my torta and my wife's seabass tacos. This experiences was just as pleasant as our first. (FOLLOW UP, THIRD VISIT AT Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant (Third time is a charm) Yes we had to go back to Los Osorio Mexican Restaurant and they did it again, this time it was a weekly family special 9 tacos, crunchy or soft your choice, 4 half burritos, Chips, salsa and our two mango drinks so fresh and delicious all for only $34.00. That had us wanting to order their food how can you pass on such a awesome special. This experience was not a dining patio experience, I wanted to see how a curbside pick would be for the future. I called around 3:00 pm, they took my order i paid by phone and told them i would be there at 4:30 pm. I made the pick-up time 4:30 pm because I drive from Phoenixville a 30 minute drive and wanted to have plenty of time to get there. When I arrived i was greeted at my car and they asked my name and with in 5 minutes i had my food and was back on the road by 4:35. Now I know it is always best to call ahead. What's was important they got the order right and were prompt. If it ever does take a little longer in the future I will understand, considering what they are doing for the community during these hard times. It was worth the 30 minute drive. Even though i live by so many mexican restaurants that say they have authentic mexican food they really don't or you order and your order is wrong or burnt. So far my wife and I are very satisfied. We definitely will keep going back for more and for those who are planning to try Los Osorio the prices are spot on, sure you can go to a taco taqueria, get similar food and pay $1.00 a taco, but they will be mass produced and the meat sits on the grill and will be dry and burnt and you will wait longer because of all the people buying the cheaper tacos, so far in our three visits this food has been fresh, cooked to perfection they are consistent, great quality and taste so great. And the Owners, staff are very welcoming and courteous. We have been back a fourth time since this was written, all delicious again. read more

BE CONSISTENT: Not being consistent is a sure way to lose business. I ordered taco salad and it was completely different from when I ordered it a few weeks ago. I don't know if they were out of Ingredients but if they were they should let customers know before the order is placed. Last time there were tomato's, more lettuce and guacamole. It was a bunch of rice and beans at the bottom and a ton of cheese, hardly any lettuce. The shell was Just okay, last time it was nice an crunchy. I will say thank you for the portion of shrimp, that's where the stars came from but they lacked flavor. Also my lid was aluminum foil. I understand running a business is tough but come on you chose to run a business. I had to add my own ingredients and for that I could have just made my own. Disappointed for sure. Hmmmm. This place of eating has everything that I could wish for from a Tex-Mex restaurant: predictable, but homely decorations; tasty, but provocatively white food; and a sombrero to dome your dome while Happy Birthday is sung in a Mexican accent. Our pleasant waitress, the illustrious Kimberly, delivered more than our food to the table. She set down scalding hot plates with a heart warming smile and jokes that would make even my Grandma chuckle (she's dead). Capitalism is a tiring system, but Los Osorio proves that their is hope in this world or the next. This establishment has raised my standards for how I should be treated and has convinced me that I deserve beter in life. Every bite of my Mexican Flag enchiladas molded me into a better man, lover, and member of society. Perhaps my meal here had changed me, perhaps it has changed the world, or most likely perhaps it opened my eyes to the change happening all around us, always. We have eaten lunch here twice. First thing, they provide free chips and salsa. And both are to die for. The salsa is sooo good. As good or better than any salsa we have had (in CA, AZ or TX) anywhere. I would love to buy bottles of this stuff! That said. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the tamales the first time. His plate looked great, but the masa was way too thick. My fish tacos were delicious. My only complaint is they were a bit bland. Definitely needed to add the chipotle sauce. And, a bit too full. Yes, I know, who complains about too much food! The second time we went, we both got the birrios tacos, the pulled beef tacos. Nicely seasoned, but oily.
