It's still a cool landmark, especially at sunset when the pastel pink hue of the building takes on a seductive glow. It's probably sacrilege to refer to a parish church as seductive, but hey, my knowledge of Catholicism is limited to watching "Conclave" on Amazon Prime. Good flick. Originally built in the 17th century, the church was redesigned in the 1800's to its current more ornate state by architect Zeferino Gutiérrez Muñoz. He took inspiration from European cathedrals, and its fanciful silhouette brings to mind a cross between Sagrada Família and the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland with a little bit of Petra's pink sandstone thrown in for good measure. It's free to enter the church where you're expected to keep quiet while parishioners pray. Right across the courtyard is the Iglesia de San Rafael, another Catholic church with an equally resplendent interior. It's no wonder the parroquia is the vantage point for notable vista points like El Mirador and popular rooftop restaurants like Quince and Luna Rooftop. It's definitely the city's essential stop. Nice architecture, in baroque style, this is a church dedicated to Sf. Francis of Asisi (his portrait can be seen at the top). Definetely a place to visit if you are in the area. It is not always opened, the hours vary, can't say I figured it out well, but if you walk downtown a few times, give it a shot! It has nice sculptures inside and it very peaceful! Lots of history and beauty here!

It is a perfect way to sightsee this charming town anyways! Saint Felipe Neri is the patron of this church, and the patron of joy and laughter in general. The church was built in 1712 in baroque style and is a jewel of the area. Breathtaking, a challenge to photograph it in its entire shape, the church is a must visit place while in town. It has a different style than other churches in town and you get to learn more about the history of this cool place! The interior has many wonderful oil paintings, if you have the time, it is worth to look around for ten minutes or so (at least). Beautiful church that I am glad I stumble into while walking around. Its beautiful tower will show the way to it!

Jamie W and I were staying close to Parque Juarez, so we walked up a series of stairways built in the quiet El Chorro neighborhood. With several rest stops along the way, we felt relatively comfortable with the incline. It took us less than twenty minutes to get to the observation area. From here, we could take in the panoramic views of the city (Photo 5). We followed the main road to get us back down to Zona Centro. Beyond the narrow walkway, the biggest challenge was the noise from the nonstop traffic. Make sure you look left to the side streets to capture even more photogenic views of the parroquia (Photo 8). It was built in 1735, in Baroque style, the interior is simpler detail wise. Not always open, but if you are lucky enough, it's worth visiting it, lots of local history to discover. It's also peaceful and quiet! I enjoyed taking photos here and admired the original work done, the materials they use, colors, etc. Amazing church!
