When I told her I do not want to come back in, especially since another hair stylist told me how unblended my hair was, she was just rude and continuously said "come in". The coloring was only supposed to be at the bottom of my hair, but it covered my whole head of hair. I stated I did not want the dye near my roots, due to not wanting to mess up the natural red hair I have, the dye went all the way up. Some streaks darker than others, was supposed to be a dark red but came out a dark brown, and the hair is shorter in the back than it is in the front.

I decided it was too hot to have long hair in Florida at that point (and even more now)! I needed someone more open-minded in the area and found this place. I walked in and got my appointment time wrong after some confusion, but she decided to shove me in anyway (the next client didn't show up). She was super nice and understanding about it! There's also a cute dog sleeping on the other couch while I waited. Unexpected dog appearance, but I found it helped my anxiety. It was very cozily decorated. I don't have high expectations anytime I get a big haircut because of my history of experiences (I got a whole haircut without the cape... got told my reference image was the ugliest thing shes ever seen...etc.). But she immediately knew I was asking for a wolf cut and explained that since I had an undercut that she'd leave extra hair to cover it while it grew. I am generally awkward talking during haircuts, but I found it very easy to talk to her :) I think this experience cured my hairstylist fear and I found out I just needed to find the right people. I also think it's really cool her daughter (I think) is working the front! Definitely give this local spot a chance if you're traumatized from strange hair salons! I'm going to include the before, after, and provided reference. Though remember it's slightdifferent because of extra hair left to cover my undercut.

5 Star update for fabulous extensions, taking them out for the summer, and being left with GREAT…read morehair (better than before the extensions!). So here's the thing- I was initially nervous about getting extensions because I had heard horror stories about how they thin your natural hair. Enter: Megan: My long-time hair color fairy and the guardian of my hair (lol). Knowing she'd never steer me wrong, when I expressed interest in extensions, I was confident my hair underneath would be fine. 1.5 years later and I just recently took the extensions out for a summer break (your girl runs hot!) and I am so impressed by the state of my scalp and hair now. Not only has my amount of hair not diminished, I even feel like it's much healthier than before the extensions. I would think this is due to expert installation as well as the fact that the extensions lengthened the time between washes (my fine hair used to get so weighed down and greasy, so I used to have to wash very often, and the extensions prolonged the volume). I will definitely be doing extensions again, especially now that I know that I can easily get them installed and take breaks as needed. Megan was also able to help me extend the life of my extensions with education on how to care for them, so I still have them in a bag for when I go back to long, voluminous, vavavoom hair. Once again- no one is allowed to touch my hair with color or extensions unless their name is Megan Essig. Previous review: 5 Stars for extensions that perfectly match my hair and have changed my whole hair routine! It's been 8 months now of having extensions by Megan and I could not be happier. She is an absolute expert at color matching and she helps you buy the extensions directly from the supplier (no upcharging here!) from there the install is totally painless and flawless. I surprise people constantly when I let them know I have extensions because it looks like my real hair and the roots don't stick out prominently. The best part? I thought this would add to my hair care routine time, but on the contrary- I can go longer between washes and styling because it holds the style so well and doesn't get greasy. So now my natural hair is healthier. Truly wild because of the things I've heard from others about what extensions did to their hair. I think it's a testament to the way she installs them and the care that's taken. She also does my color- read my previous reviews for how obsessed I am with her taking me from dark brunette to an icy blonde. Forever a client!
