Fantastic Michelin star experience, showcasing mallorcan and Catalonian cuisine…read more Getting there - go down to the end of alleyway and it's just to the right next to Goa. The meal is divided up to three acts. Little amuse bouche to tease the appetite out of you leaving you lingering with curiosity. The second act is glorious with the best dishes of the house. The third act is dessert - mostly disappointing, with molecular gastronomy applied whenever possible. The best dishes are: Bittersweet aubergines with fois gras and foam - phenomenal. Fantastic balance of salty richness, soft luscious eggplant, and light and fluffy foam, all with a hint of subtle spice underneath. Crayfish cooked on hot rocks. Simplicity is the key here. Large crayfish from the sea is cooked on fire on hot rocks. Then served with this incredible sauce. Cow/steak tartare with aged blue cheese - aged beef for 60 days with a bit of blue cheese and tart apple. Phenomenal. The right texture from the steak tartare with creaminess from the blue cheese. Get the wine pairing with the meal. I especially enjoyed the Mosel Riesling (Schloss Lieser 2015) with smoked tomatoes (tomatoes in mallorca are good but still subpar to Sardinia or other regions in Italy) and bittersweet aubergine with fois gras, as well as the Can Xanet 2012 (Merlot, Syrah, mantenegro) with the steak tartare.

Me and my ex, who's from and lives in Manacor, Mallorca, Spain, went to Sa Coma Playa Hotel and Resort for holiday. We had an amazing opportunity to eat at arguably one of the best restaurants in all of Mallorca. Tomeu Caldentey is the only Mallorcan, Michelin Star chef in the world. Since we were staying at the resort on holiday booking reservations was alot easier than I anticipated. However, because of the nature of the success & popularity of Es Moli d'en Bou, you usually have to book your reservations in advance. Firstly, the staff is absolutely incredible, friendly, curtious, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The ambience was amazing, and the restaurant is impecably clean. The entire dining experience is quite theatrical, it's just more than dining, it's lliterally a public exhibition of culinary entertainment. Tomeu is an absolute gastronomic god. There's no adjectives one can use to accurately describe each and everyone one of his dishes. Our meal consisted of 11 courses, and the food was sublime, with some of the greatest wines I've ever had....amazing selections. We were honestly there for almost 4 hours, for our complete meal and dessert. While you typically get approximately 5 different wines with your courses, we actually decided to try a few extra ones, and I reckon we ended up tasting approximately 7, based on the recommendations of of the sommelier, yeah, we paid in the bum quite a bit, for the extra wine, but it was worth every Euro. I believe Es Moli d'en Bou has a policy on no young children at the restaurant, however, when me and me ex-girlfriend were there, we did see a few young tots sitting at tables wiv their families. So if you have any kids, you might want to check into that. The portions are quite small, but for heavens sake, your getting 11 of them, depending upon what menu selection you make. Believe me, by the 7th course, I began to pray that I could continue this journey. You will definitely not go home hungry or with any euros left. I just wanted to try everything, since this was a once in a lifetime experience. My favourite dish was the slow cooked beef, which is cooked in a vaccum for 8 hours, then lightly caramelized and then steamed wiv this absolutely incredble smoke, packed wiv all types of local herbs. Unfortunately it wasn't a whoppin' 12-14 oz piece of meat :), it was a rather small portion; but the taste was huge in flavour. Tomeu Caldentey actually will come around to your table and greet you and ask about the food, a really nice touch and a really nice chef. The prices are not cheap at all....but you absolutely get what you pay for. A culinary experience that you will never forget. To this day I can remember vividly exactly every second of this incredible fine dining event. Oh by the way, the final damage was 290 euros! But the memories are priceless.

A thin crust, very crispy, but not like a cracker per se. It still has some softness to it. The selection/options are good. We have tried a few different combinations and the only one that, while interesting, I am not sure I would get again is the sobrasada pizza. I am a huge fan of sobrasada and would eat it just about any time, any place. On a pizza though... it just wasn't right. Still, if you like sobrasada, you should try it this way. I may not want to order again, but it was quite interesting and good. Regarding the other items on the menu I'm afraid my experience is limited. I have had the cannelloni but that is it. However, I can affirm that it was also very good and can imagine their other pasta options would also be of equal quality. Both inside and outside are comfortable. The place is also usually full, which is always a good sign. About the only complaint I have would be the staff, on one occasion. I will give them due credit, it was lunch time, middle of July, and very busy. We sat inside as their very large outside terrace dinging area was full with people waiting. Even inside was full, but a few empty tables were still to be had. We had been out wondering a couple of the Talayotic villages and it was around 2:00 in the afternoon. We placed our order to a very stressed waiter, who didn't try to cover his stressed feelings. Any request or question we asked seemed to stress him more, so we simply placed our order, pizza for my fiancé, cannelloni for me. Having enjoyed the pizza thoroughly but still being hungry, we decided to order another pizza (they are only plate size and wafer thin). This seemed to stress the waiter even more, as opposed to him being happy we enjoyed the food. But, whatever, we were having a lovely time and he was soon gone. After the last of the delicious pizza was done, we had the nerve to order coffees. Yes, I know, how dare we. It isn't like the place closed for siesta. Perhaps it was the end of his shift. I don't know. But again, we stressed him even more with our request, but he grudgingly brought us our café con leche, which we tried to enjoy and drink quickly. Overall a good experience, and even though the first time was a little stressful (more for them I think than for us) we have still been back and were disappointed to find it closed for the winter. But, we eagerly await its reopening.
