We only found Loot because the BF wanted to take pics of the bridge from "the other side". So over we went. When we saw the lovely downtown, we decided to take a stroll and see the sights. Turns out that Loot was about the only thing open! Upon entering Loot, we were yelled at by the cat. Since I think all shops should have a cat, I knew this would be a great spot before I made another step in the door. Oh, and apparently the cat was yelling at me because I shut the door before he could get out. On to the store. OMG fab-u-lous. So many unique items I cannot even describe. Definitely not thrift store. It's almost like the owners have a hidden time machine and they went back & got all these great old items. I found (and purchased) a package of old fashioned clothespins. Remember the one piece hardwood clothespins you'd use in art class to make people from? Yeah, those. They also had old games from the '70's ... rings made from buttons ... plastic toy guns ... the wooden folding measuring tapes ... brass tacks ... steel molds ... newspaper carrier bags ... such cool stuff I cannot even describe. Prices are absolutely reasonable. The cat returned when we were about halfway through the store and demanded some petting. Both the BF & I were happy to oblige. Went into Loot today to see what they had on their shelves and loved all of their items. Our favorite items in the store are their rustic boxes and factory goods. Today our favorite item was the sheet metal scraps that knives were cut out from. They make great wall decorations. Loot also has a great selection of small vintage items and unique home made items. This is a great store with a great selection and even better staff. read more

I swear to God, Turner's Falls is turning into a hipster's haven and it couldn't happen to a more deserving place. I've been visiting the Pilgrim Valley regularly for the past few years and even up till 2 years ago, Turner's Falls was full of Section 8 housing, grand old Main street buildings laying vacant, I normally just drove right through on my way to Montague. A shame really, because it's a cute little spot, right on the Connecticut River, lovely old houses and not far from places like Amherst or Holyoke. A lot of potential. But, things seem to be changing now. On a recent trip last week, I was happily surprised to see original shops like Loot, yoga studios and hipster pubs on the main drag of Turner's Falls. Loot takes old, vintage items and re-purposes them and creates them into something new. I saw some cool magnets, geos and other items which can really personalize your space. i didn't pick up anything but I can see why dropping in here regularly will eventually yield you something. read more

LOOT found + made, located on Avenue A in the downtown shopping district, is a new and exciting retail addition to the revived village of Turners Falls, a former industrial/mill town on the banks of the Connecticut River. The past decade has breathed new life into TF, thanks to the hard work of many groups and individuals. Now, back to LOOT. The shop is absolutely chock-full of amazing items from our industrial past (and present, too), without feeling cluttered or overwhelming, a testament to the organizational skills of the duo who own and operate LOOT. The range of items is broad, from buttons to industrial factory pieces; there's something for every budget, truly. My five-year-old daughter found a huge bowl of colorful 80s bangles (she bought two), and I discovered and purchased a beautifully-constructed, antique wooden card catalog, an item I've been seeking for years as a gift for my bibliophile husband. Shh! Don't tell him--it's going to be his Christmas present. It pays to look in all the nooks and crannies of the shop. Open drawers, open tins, open boxes, and be amazed at what you'll find. Give yourself the time to explore LOOT, and you're sure to find something that appeals to your imagination and taste. I added the category of Art Supplies because there is a wealth of items in the shop that can and will be used to create new works. It's not all vintage offerings. Shoppers will find hand-crafted items from local, contemporary artisans. Me, I'm all about the vintage stuff, so I'm afraid my attention was drawn to the antiques more than to the modern items. The inventory moves quickly, so if you see something you want, go with the impulse to buy it on the spot. What a gem! Loot is chock full of treasures. Be prepared to spend a long time browsing, because they have so much interesting stuff! They have vintage advertisements, old photos, defunct industrial objects, and all sorts of handcrafted items too, from shirts, bags, and jewelry, to home decor pieces and tchotchkes. It's a great place to buy gifts, for yourself and for others! And the prices are really reasonable. And an adorable cat named Peanut lives in the shop. Yep. Loot has it all. read more

Wow - My daughter and I loved this store! So hard to describe as the "loot" is unusual - industrial artsy objects, antique and found objects, beautifully made gifts (perfect for Xmas shopping!). Everything is obviously chosen with an artist/curator eye. And the owners are delightful. We had such a good time and left with a trunk load of great stuff. Can't wait to go back! Loot is a super neat store with lots of things you did not know you needed! Inspiring items from salvaged industrial, architectural and a mix of vintage retail items like new in box vintage Slinkys! There is also leather jewelry, vintage pins, geodes, textiles and plants, at least I think the plants were for sale.....have to check next visit. Stroll along the main street in town, visit the local shops especially stop by and visit Loot and have lunch in one of the nearby restaurants. read more

I love this place! It is primarily industrial salvage as art and home decor. I have never encountered such a well curated selection. Need an original mold for Foster Grant sunglasses frames from the old factory in Leominster; maybe a few hundred Addressograph plates from some long-forgotten department store; a few ancient maple sugaring buckets to use as planters? Every time we stop at Loot en route to visit family, we spend three times longer than we intended poring over their amazing collection of found and handmade objects. We have gotten everything from holiday cards to jewelry made of drum cymbals to our kitchen island. Turners Falls is a great place to stop in general, with several great restaurant/bar choices, and a new store "Stuff" up the street from Loot with more modern finds (tho the industrial salvage aesthetic of Loot is closest to my heart). Also, don't miss their inventive window displays. I wish I lived next door to Loot but at least I visit often! read more
