The set up is great, they have a big beautiful outdoor patio area as well as a couple seats inside. It looks like they probably do a lot of fun events here, sadly we didn't get to find out. She was really friendly and talked to us about the different beers they brew and the styles and flavors to expect. It is cool how each beer and label pays tribute to the land and history around them. I had the Barracks Black and I can't recall the beer my wife got but I think it was an amber ale of sorts. Both were good. I really enjoyed the black and we ended up buying some to take home with us. It was really nice that the staff let us hang out for a bit and enjoy the beer even though it was after closing.

During inclement weather, the music moved to a local restaurant that's close by. This micro-brewery shares space with the King's Lock Distillery (reviewed separately). Kid and family friendly. The beer is great, nothing on their current rotation that isn't enjoyable. I've been several weeks in a row and they've had something new to offer every week. A trend I really hope they continue with. One of my favorite things about breweries this size is a constantly changing rotation and the limited edition feeling when they change their lineups. They have several New England IPAs (hazy IPAs in some circles) that I really enjoy and their ESB is a great summer beer. Easy drinking, light and refreshing. The atmosphere is great. This is a brewery focused on great beer and great conversation. They don't have a kitchen but have bar snacks by way of bags of tasty chips and they do allow you to bring in your own food or get food delivered if you want something heavier. They have some board games you can borrow if you're looking for something else to enjoy while you sip on your beer. The brewery is right in the public square with ample parking in the rear. The bar area gets a bit crowded but the back room usually has plenty of space and a table available. You can order drinks from the bar and walk them back yourself or wait for one of the awesome staff members to walk back and check on you. The volume in the back is conversational making this a great option to catch up with friends over a pint or three. I thoroughly enjoy Boots Brewing Company. I travel a bit for work, and my favorite thing to do when I visit a new location is browse Yelp for breweries. All in all, I've been to between 100-150 craft breweries, so I have a solid baseline for comparison. If you appreciate good beer, you'll appreciate this brewery. If you're idea of good beer comes in a 12 pack that costs less than $15 than this place might not be for you. If you're looking for a bar or a place to watch a game, this also probably isn't your cup of tea.

It's inconspicuous, but just hip enough to keep the beer brewing and the crowds satiated. It's a humble operation, but their limited business hours mean they're always busy. Don't worry, there's not a long wait to grab a beer (or four). They also sell a boatload of merch - hats, shirts, glasses. Great gifts for the craft beer lover in your life. Keep an eye out for the car-lined street and the big red barn; when you see those two things, you'll know you made it.

For at least the past few years they have a gift set called "The 12 Beers of Christmas." The beers have funny festive names and funky festive flavours. This past year, 2023, some of the beers in this set were "Cuddly as a Cactus" (Green Apple Sour), "Figgin' Christmas Cake" (Christmas Cake Honey Brown) and "Not My Gumdrop Buttons!" (Gingerbread English Ale). Even though I'm not a beer drinker, I do like trying these unusual flavours and having a tiny sip. My comment is usually "too hoppy" or "tastes too much like beer!" Haha. My husband likes the fun flavours but has noted that some of the notes are on the artificial side, and likes their "regular" beers better. They sell their beers online and offer free local delivery (The Ottawa Valley) or you can also pick up at their location in Cobden for free. They deliver to the rest of Ontario for a shipping fee too. Their beers are also available at the LCBO. The 12 Beers of Christmas set is regularly $68 but if you pre-order, you get the pre-order sale price of $54.40, which is what my brother did. It means my husband received his gift a bit early, but I'm proud of my brother for scoring a deal ;) (12)
