But even the new items did not look mass produced there was a very strong representation of artisan and local goods. I happen to visit right before Valentine's Day and was impressed with the obvious care that was often shown by the various vendors in arranging their displays with a spring theme. The store was nice and clean inside and the booths were in picture perfect order and uncluttered. They had free coffee (yes! Huge bonus!) and restrooms readily available. So, with no rush or worries, we took our time and looked through the entire store. There were many craft items as well as antiques. Handmade soaps, lotions and candles were available for purchase as well, all local too . We had a really enjoyable time and had so many items to look at and talk about. We left with quite a few items - some vintage Xmas ornaments, a vintage clay stein, some beer apparel (one dealer has a huge lot of vintage beer distributor uniform stuff) and an authentic Hermes cuff bracelet FOR ONE DOLLAR. Say what, JT? I know, I can't believe it either. There was a bin of $1 junk jewelry right inside the door and my precious was right on top. As a first time shopper, I asked about the return policy and was told it could be returned for in-store credit. The sleeves proved too short, so I tried to return the purchase today. Initially the cashier said there was a 10 day return policy on clothing and refused the return. I explained the information I had been given, but since it was seasonal, she would only make an exception to exchange it for the same clothing item. She referred me to the back of the price tag, which does explain the policy; but what I was verbally told was different. Well, a larger size doesn't have longer sleeves, but since I had no alternative, I made an exchange. I said that as a first time shopper, it didn't give me a good impression of the store. Nothing more was said. (BTW, the item is now on sale for 20% off vs my 10% discount. Bottom line, I thought this might become a store I would shop frequently, but now I will not return. I try to shop local, but with policies like this, it's no wonder larger stores are winning the retail race.
