The atmosphere is lively and enjoyable, especially for a walk with friends or family. We stopped for ramen, and it was absolutely delicious. The area is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for spending a few relaxing hours. Highly recommend if you're visiting Santa Monica!

What happened here?…read more The last time I had visited Third Street Promenade was... checks calendar ...fifteen years ago. Okay, so it's been a minute. Back then, this was the place to be. The energy was contagious. People were everywhere, the shops felt relevant, and there was a sense that something was always happening. Returning recently felt a bit like running into an old friend you barely recognized. Maybe this is simply the fate of the modern shopping district. Online retail changed everything, and malls across America have been fighting a losing battle for years. Whatever the cause, the Promenade feels like it's missing its heartbeat. Storefronts sit empty, foot traffic feels sparse, and what was once a lively destination now feels more like a collection of memories. That's not to say there aren't still pockets of life here and there. The location remains excellent, and you can still catch glimpses of what made this place special. But those moments are fleeting. More than anything, a visit to Third Street Promenade feels nostalgic. Not because of what it is today, but because of what it used to be. It's hard not to walk away wishing you could have experienced it in its prime.

The fries were not bad, the place itself was pretty cool. Great location really cool decorations and the service was pretty great. I don't think I'd eat here again nor would I recommend others to eat here. Totally overpriced for the amount as well as the taste.

What is Route 66? Well, in this case, it's basically a sign on a pole that has "Santa Monica 66 End…read moreof the Trail" printed on it. It's located on the Santa Monica Pier in front of Pier Burger and adjacently across from Bubba Gump Shrimp. From what I have read from other Yelp reviews, I didn't know Route 66 runs from Chicago downtown to Santa Monica Pier. Wow... no wonder it's a popular attraction! It may get really busy here and the line can get really long so plan accordingly. I would recommend you get your photo op first before venturing off to other places within the pier. It's a really neat place to be actually. I've been here a couple times most recently myself for different venues... one for Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) fundraising event and another Heal the Bay beach cleanup volunteer event... so much fun! Come on out and enjoy your visit at Santa Monica 66 End of the Trail! See you here!

For a $10 entry fee (waived with student i.d.) one gains admission to the grounds on which the Eames' house and studio sit. You're invited to peer into the house and studio, they may even open a slider to enable this, but no photos of the interior are permitted. Although the experience is billed as "self-guided", during my visit a docent opened the slider to the home, allowing a better view inside, and discussed different aspects of the house with us in a very informal manner. The experience is mostly visual but if you have questions, ask away. I've no doubt the docents can answer anything you might wish to know about the Eames house and the Eames themselves. Walk the property and enjoy its natural beauty. Take a look at the map to reveal that the surrounding houses are (or were) case studies for other types of mid-century home designs. A visit to the Eames house (overseen by the Eames Foundation, advance reservations accepted), will likely take up no more than 45 minutes of your time but you'll feel like you've seen something unique and historical and forevermore you'll likely spot images of the immediately recognizable home in books and magazines allowing you to say "I've been there".
