I searched the local area for a repair shop nearby. A repair shop wanted me to take the recliner to the shop; and I thought it was a bit absurd as the three sections weigh the proverbial ton for one person. I flipped and studied the recliner and managed to remove the damaged section. The shop I had previously contacted neither answered the telephone nor replied to my texts. Then, I found Mike's Recliner Repair. Mike Felan told me over the phone he could do the repair, and once finished, deliver and reinstall the section to the recliner. I was pleasantly surprised. Mike gave me a very reasonable estimate over on the phone: and since I already had removed the section, I put it on my pickup and took it to his shop. A few days later, the recliner was back in shape at a quite reasonable cost, with a military discount and a guarantee. I highly recommend Mike's Recliner Repair as an honest, customer-oriented and very reliable repair shop. In fact, I already recommended the shop to my friends if they ever have a need for a furniture repair or restoration.

In December 2025, I hired Campbell Furniture Restoration to completely refurbish an antique curio…read morecabinet. However, all that seems to have been done was a hasty cleaning and a cheap strip & finish. There is a number of issues that were given little or no consideration. The curio door is misaligned and scrapes against the bottom, which has already worn away the finish despite it only being a couple weeks with minimal use. The furniture backing is still a patchwork of mismatched panels with one of the panels still loose and unsecured. The wheels are still stiff with dirt, grime, and rust, so they don't roll easily. A lock assembly that was missing wasn't replaced and I was told to find one myself. The inside of the drawers were still dirty with glitter and gunk stuck to them. A minor issue, but shows a lack of attention to detail. And even though this is an antique and I asked to keep a natural look, the finish on here is glossy and looks cheap and plasticky. I paid $1550, having little knowledge on what's cheap/expensive when it comes to furniture restoration, but trusting in someone who claimed to have plenty of experience. When I raised these concerns with Mr. Campbell, I got the impression he felt the incomplete work was negligible. While he did offer to do some of the work, I've opted not to accept his offer due to a lack of confidence in his workmanship.

It also had scratches along the bottom front from our dogs collar. The desk is very heavy so I was really happy to find someone who would actually come out to our house! He did an awesome job and matched the stain so well that I can't tell it from the original finish. The desk unit would have cost us $3000 to $4000 to replace so fixing it has saved us a lot of money.
