Both staff and volunteers at this hospice center are true angels. My family is eternally indebted. The Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center is the only freestanding hospice center in King and Snohomish counties. The beautiful Cape Cod-style facility was designed to be as home-like as possible, consistent with safety, security and excellent medical care. The Center's 15 private patient rooms include sleeping spaces for visitors, a private bath with shower, TV and a wardrobe closet. Each room opens to an outdoor patio with a view of the park-like gardens. The gardens include a lush courtyard with a waterfall, a children's play area and walking paths through the rose and alpine gardens. Families and friends can visit at any time, and children are very welcome. The comfortable family rooms throughout the Center are furnished with sofas and chairs, TV, desks, and telephones. The main family room has a children's corner designed to offer little ones comfort and a place to play. Each wing also has a full kitchen, which allows families to cook special meals if they so choose. The Center is named for Gene and Irene Wockner, whose initial support provided the resources needed to research and plan for the Center. The Wockner family's generosity continues to provide for Evergreen Hospice Services.

All of the staff was super friendly and approachable. And they do their best to be always available but not obtrusive. There are multiple common living room spaces, beautifully appointed with great couches and chairs. There's also a spacious children's play room with lots to keep little ones happy. A large kitchen available to all guests and visitors. They provide coffee and tea. Each patient room has a door leading to the outside, so you can wander the lovely landscaped grounds. The patient rooms themselves are great, with a couch, an extended bench seat in the giant window, and a recliner that is also set up so that more mobile patients can use the recliner or their bed. It always felt bright and calm and lovely. A dear dear family friend spent her last weeks here. She had been VERY scared about going into hospice, as the place where her own mother had died 40 years ago had been terrible. But we read great reviews about this place and are so glad she chose it. The only downside for us personally was location, as it's on the eastside and we're not. But this was definitely worth the 20-30 minute drive from Shoreline/Seattle. You can visit 24 hours a day, you just need to sign in at the front desk (and sign out when you leave). That's really a security measure (in case there's a fire or other emergency, the staff will know how many people are in the building). They took great care of our friend and it was such a bright lovely place to be. It was wonderful to get to spend time visiting our friend. Even when she had lost consciousness, mostly, for her final days, it still felt like a welcoming place to visit and actually SPEND TIME in (rather than the cold/clinical feeling of hospital rooms). We'd bring our knitting or embroidery and some girlfriends and have a "stitch and bitch" session with our friend in her room, even when she wasn't able to respond, we knew our presence was felt and welcomed. Or we'd watch a movie together. It really was like visiting her in a very nice apartment. Thank you to all the staff. If you have a loved one in need of care in their final days, this place is fantastic. They even had a therapy dog come visit the patients sometimes. Our friend, who hadn't responded to anything for two days, totally lit up and smiled, especially when we used her hand to pet the dog. They let the dog get up and sleep on her bed next to her for awhile. Lovely

There is a community kitchen. living room, playground, and large sitting area for families. A wonderful, stress free setting for a difficult time.

The social worker came to assess the situation, went over the binder with all the information and contacts, and gave me the support I needed. The bed and all other equipment were delivered on a Wednesday after calling them Tuesday morning. Nurse Venus came over on Wednesday evening to familiarize me with the process - from medication to adjusting the bed, changing diapers, etc. She was very respectful and showed a lot of compassion, understanding and patience. I was a wreck and she walked me through what to expect and gave me all the contact numbers I may need. My loved one was only in hospice care for a day, but the care and compassion shown to me by nurse Venus and the staff at the office helped me through this most difficult time. Months after my loved one passed, they continue to send me materials on grief along with their program schedule for counseling. I highly recommend EvergreenHealth Home Care.

Husky, a smaller and caring agency, recently came into a very challenging situation with a frail very elderly couple, and despite their resistance to accepting outside care, Husky has completely won them over. Unlike some other care agencies that i've worked with,Husky not only comes in and provides a free consult with a care manager, they CONTINUE to have the managers monitor and communicate with the family and the healthcare team. Care managers Jennifer and Kris have been stellar in this way, and have found the most amazing caregiver, Michael, who visits them 2x weekly, each for 4 hours. They do it all, from driving the couple to errands and MD appts, to an outing at the lake, to meal prep, to light housekeeping, to personal care for our hospice patient. They are not the cheapest agency out there, but there is a real reason for this: quality caregivers, and a hands-on collaborative approach, My agency has no affiliation or relationship with Husky or any other agency, but i did feel it would be helpful for those who are seeking good safe care to give it a go. :)

They kept sending different people every day. My mom has dementia - she needs routine and familiar faces, not a parade of strangers confusing her even more. This made her anxious and upset constantly, but apparently Home Instead doesn't give a shit about what patients actually need. Half these caregivers had zero experience and some didn't even have the required licenses to care for my mom. Are you kidding me? I'm paying you to send qualified people, not random folks off the street who don't know what they're doing. This is my mother's safety we're talking about. I called management multiple times trying to fix this mess. Talked to some woman named Needy who gave me the most fake, corporate apologies I've ever heard. No solutions, no changes, just "sorry you feel that way" bullshit while nothing got better. This company took our money and provided garbage care that made my mom's life worse. They don't care about your loved one - they just want to cash your checks and send whoever's available that day. Don't waste your time or money with Home Instead Seattle. Find a company that actually knows how to care for people with dementia instead of this amateur hour operation.

When the aide arrived and I instructed her on the time and doses, she said she could not administer them, which is one of the main reasons she was hired. The aide was also not able to move my husband on her own, which was the other main reason she was hired. Additionally, when I came to relieve her at the end of her eight hour shift, I found my husband in a urine soaked diaper. The frosting on the cake was when I received a bill for the "services" I received, which was covered by Hospice. It took me talking to three people in order to get to a person who knew what an invoice actually was and to resolve the problem. I would think twice about hiring an aide from this company as the care was seriously lacking and the basic business proclivity left a lot to be desired.
