He spends all his time lecturing instead of explaining anything about your actual tax return. Furthermore, we were told it was one price for our taxes but then later found out we had to pay more since he changed the way of the filing. I didn't mind the extra but I was upset that he never mentioned it would be more I just would have like to know that. Avoid this place he is extremely unprofessional and has no people skills. I have never been treated so disrespectfully for just asking for clarification on his fees. His explanation for his rudeness was he had a long day. We all have long days dont take it out on your clients. Not to mention he is way overpriced in general and for the horrible service not worth it. The women in the office were nice though.

They are essentially robbing money from the hard working parents who really look forward to their refund and rely heavily on the great big help that the child tax credit is if you happen to fall into a certain tax bracket with a child under 17. When I got there I was sat down with a menu of what they can do for me and what it MIGHT cost (though they wont know for sure till the end of the horrific hour long process). They nickle and dime EVERY PENNY from their customers. Straight down to that child tax credit I mentioned. For every child you can get a credit for they want $45 if you choose to accept said credit. So for me.. 3 kids=$135 in extra fees for HR BLOCK to greedily suck up despite it being money that the NYS GOVERNMENT gives to families with children. In what world does HR Block think they are living in where this is ok? And for those who think a private tax accountant is too much money they charge a standard $200 fee for a basic return. After H&RBLOCK was finished with me they took me to the cleaners for a grand total of $400. What scam artists. Please consider looking elsewhere to file. NOBODY SHOULD BE CHARGED A DIME TO RECEIVE A TAX CREDIT THE GOVERNMENT GIVES AWAY FOR FREE. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS THEIR JOB TO GET THEIR CUSTOMERS THE MAX REFUND POSSIBLE!!

I had great experience in prior years but this year is different. I dropped off our tax documents…read moreon Thursday March 5th and usually about 2 weeks to be completed as we were told in prior years. We received a call on Friday March 20th by one of their office staff that our return was ready to be picked up. My husband, son and I went to sign and pick up our tax forms and thought we would be receiving our IRS return roughly 2 weeks from picking up our forms. It is now Monday March 30 almost April and our return was never sent to the IRS by their office and this I only found out because I had logged on to the IRS website to check on our refund but they did not have our information so I called Covati and Janhsen and that's when they said it was never sent to the IRS. So if I didn't check the IRS website for our refund, I would have never known my return wasn't filed. I trusted their office with our documents and return yet our forms just sat somewhere in their office without being filed and without even a call. If I didn't call them who knows how long before our return would have been sent to the IRS if even at all. So disappointed unfortunately we will not be returning.
