True, parking is tight but, I took care of that by giving up my car. In the case of necessary travel to doctors appointments there is free door to door service. In normal times we can go on bus trips as far as NYC to films, opera, concerts, etc for a nominal fee. I have never seen or smelled anything bad in the dining room. On the rare occasion when a resident had an accident it was promptly and expertly cleaned up. I have never smelled anything bad. As far as the lobby staff being snotty and condescending nothing could be further from the truth. On one day, when my wife and I moved, in everybody on the staff knew us by name. In fact, I think we are coddled too much sometimes. And tipping is not allowed. At first glance the prices to buy in and the monthly maintenance fees seem pricey, but considering the great number of services and amenities it is it is really pretty much of a bargain. And there is even a fund that guarantees that if you run out of money, thur no fault of your own, you will, not be kicked out. Management rates an A+ in its efforts to keep us health in this time of Covid19 A very important intangible point, that can only be experienced by living here, is the friendship of the other residents. We have an a incredible mix of academics and professionals who are not only very friendly people who are also a joy to talk to and live with. I have made more friends in my five years at RPP than I did in my 60 years in Lutherville. Moving to Roland Park Place was the best move I ever made. I am happy to stay here for the rest of my life

The staff bends over backwards to accommodate in every possible way! They are even not only making it possible to have our unit reconfigured, but they are actively working with the architectural and engineering staff to do the best they can to fulfill our requests. Roland Park Place's activities, programs and events are a dizzying array of intellectual, cultural, health-building, recreational and travel opportunities par excellence. Once an apartment is reserved, the future residents are welcome to take advantage of all activities, programs, and trips. Already, we feel like we are joining a very close-knit family. We recently attended a posh reception that RPP sponsored to introduce us to many other future residents. While many current residents have aged beautifully in place having, however, slowed down quite a bit, we met lots of future residents who are vibrant, colorful, bright, interesting very active folks, many of whom bonded very quickly, discovering that we had many, many things in common. I can NOT imagine another place in which I'd like to spend my remaining years!!! A-AND I can NOT wait to move in. If you have any interest at all in a vibrant, fully alive, stimulating, convivial and beautiful retirement community, I urge you to visit Roland Park Place. I have not received any such bill or invoice or statement, and now it's getting close to a month since they say they mailed that statement. I'm not paying someone who contacts me by the phone when I have no invoice or statement for it. I've tried calling their billing folks with no luck. It's ridiculous.

On 12/20/21, I went into PIVOT for physical therapy. They had me sign an "Insurance Verification…read moreForm" that listed the insurance, co-pay, and so forth. The employee at PIVOT signed and VERIFIED this information and informed me that the co-pay was $30.00 per visit. I should have paid more attention to what was on the bottom of this form. There was a fine print that said that this verification form does not guarantee payment by the insurance company and "misquoted information" is not PIVOT's responsibility. I received 21 sessions over a span of 3-4 months and each time, they asked me to pay $30.00. When I asked if there were any outstanding fees, I was told that I did not have any. Two months after my last therapy session, I received a bill (6/13/22) from PIVOT indicating that I still owe them $342.75. If I had known that the co-pay is $45.00, I would have gone to another provider. I called our insurance company, PIVOT headquarters, and the local PIVOT office we visited and they all blamed each other. The headquarter told us the billing issue should be addressed by the local Rotunda PIVOT office and the Rotunda PIVOT office told us that our insurance was at fault. I could not address this issue after lengthy talks with all three entities. I ended up wasting my time and paying the bill. I learned my lesson the hard way and wanted to share this with you so you don't fall into this loophole. Beware of the fine print on the verification form you sign at the beginning of the treatment and check with your insurance company BEFORE you receive any services. If possible, just find a more transparent and honest business around you.

There are not enough choices in healthcare for the management of Levindale to behave as badly as…read morethey do. If it were possible to give zero or one stars, I would not hesitate to do so. I think highly of my doctor Janet Conway. They had a few good physical therapists and nurses. Laura my Nurse Practicioner was very good. Kristin my PT was good. Dr. Zhou cared. The Director of Nurses Shirell did not want to give my infusions of Zosyn as directed. I was given shorter infusions and higher doses. They got prescriber permission. Shirell said, "if you needed four hour infusions you should've stayed Sinai." What a nasty person. My Neutropene count dropped dangerously low due to the Zosyn. I was put on what are called Neutropenic Precautions. What that meant was that anybody entering my room was to wear a mask. One person wore what looked to me as a lay-person like PPE. I could not fight infection. I was to go to the ER with a temperature above 100.4 degrees. I was not weight-bearing. I needed help from a tech to toilet. The tech was supposed to hand me, sani-wipes. I only had 60° of mobility in my right arm. I would wipe myself from knee to waste on both sides while standing at the walker.The tech started jiggling the box. I said to the tech, a woman named Sandra, "Are you making fun of me?" Sandra took off her mask and got into my face. She was not even social distancing. She yelled, "Are you making fun of me? Are you making fun of me? Are you making fun of me?" She proceeded to verbally abuse me. I have never been so frightened. Nobody should fear the professional staff or anybody else lin a place where he or she is there to heal. I went to the site administrator Sharon Hendricks. Executives are typically identified by first and last name. They are not restaurant servers. They are not retail clerks. Sometimes I think better of restaurant servers and clerks than I do of executives. Sharon apologized by email and said that she would have her team look into it. When I followed up, they said they did not discuss disciplinary matters. They should've self-reported to Maryland's Office of Healthcare Quality. Sandra should've been reported to the Board of Nursing. I am lactose intolerant. They ran out of the lactose tablets. I could not have my food or medication for 15 hours. They are not doing their jobs. The Director of Nurses Shirell, the nasty one who yelled at me in my own room which while I was there was my home was supposed to send me bandages when I discharged. Sharon told her to do that. And she didn't do that because she doesn't care. Why is Shirrell working in healthcare. Levindale is supposed to provide case management and that means advocating against insurance. They would not do that for me because I am no longer on site. I wanted them to assist with insurance claims and advocating for claims that were incurred on site. These people are awful. They want to mess up, dump it on the patient, and ask me to private pay. Pay these people. Never! The Levindale management team replaced the Hyppocratic Oath with, "Bleed em' dry, and let em' die." My physician Janet Conway is outstanding. One doctor said to me, "You don't like hospitals. I don't like hospitals and I'm a doctor. Do what I do with my own care. Go for the doctor and put up with everyone else." These people milk that. Patients are people. Patient Relations seldom gets back to me. When they do, they say I am using my paralegal background to bully them with the law. Good. Patients are defenseless. These people take advantage of us. People go into healthcare for good reasons. There is something called the LCR, effect. I will not write out the name. Named after the adversary fallen from Heaven. There are not enough choices in healthcare in Maryland for the Levindale team to behave as badly as they do. My plan is a Medicare advantage plan. There's something called the First Amendment. The nursing and rehabilitation teams were kind, attentive, and supportive throughout my stay, which made a meaningful difference in my care. However, the leadership presence in the facility feels noticeably lacking. It was difficult to identify who the Director of Nursing or Administrator were, as they did not appear to be visible on the units or actively engaging with patients. There seems to be a heavy reliance on remote work, and when concerns arise, leadership can feel unavailable or unapproachable. At times, the communication style comes across as dismissive rather than empathetic. Additionally, I did not receive any activities or engagement opportunities during my time on the subacute unit, which made the experience feel isolating. From a patient standpoint, there also appears to be a disconnect in how clinical reimbursement and MDS processes are managed at the leadership level. The oversight from the Regional Clinical Reimbursement Vice President feels absent, and it raises concerns about how well patient care and documentation are truly aligned. This is a great facility with strong frontline staff, but it would benefit greatly from more visible, engaged, and responsive leadership to ensure a more well-rounded patient experience.

Staff are often verbally abusive for no apparent reason. * Nurses have been known to walk away from you in midsentence. * Requests to maintenance people to address blatant safety issues are routinely ignored as are documented dietary requirements. * Responses to safety issues occurred only after a request to the State for a visit and violations were recorded by a compliance authority. * Changes to patient medications are routinely not relayed to oncoming shift (often neither to the patient) * A culture that seems to place blame on patients for failures of staff (e.g. losing patient mail and packages) * Theft. There are, of course, some good people at work there; people who are dedicated to their line of work and are not just there for a paycheck. Especially social workers and psychologists. The CONS are the everyday things that make living there a frustrating and unnecessarily unpleasant experience.

The OT, PT and supporting nursing staff needs some training resources to know the know the difference between a patient advocating for themselves vs. the patient is refusing services.

She was brought a plate of French fries milk and cup of soup for lunch and kindly requested a more nutritious meal that was never brought. A 1 star rating is generous!

Reach out to me if your loved one suffered at King David as well. Review: Did dad leave you out of the will? Has mom lived long enough & and is ready to transition? This is the place for you! Owned by the slumlord of nursing homes, Mark Schwartz, who owns 98 other misery mills while he is probably playing golf at Mar-a-Lago. My mother came here after a severe UTI that nearly killed her. Keeping her clean and dry is not optional--it's critical. Short version of highlights to expect. - Mom received no shower, bath, tooth brushing, or any other meaningful hygiene for 8 days - unclean and unsanitary room, including floor and all touchable surfaces - painful, itchy, and bleeding IV left an additional 3 days after the last use - Mom's emergency call button was non-functional for almost 24 hours, and the bed remote wires were frayed. -mom barely able to walk or twist her body, yet was left in the bathroom alone on the toilet for 1-2 hours at a time multiple times a day as she was forced to try to clean herself. -witnessed patients fall and were left to cry out on the floor for extended periods. She had to be pulled out of this facility without a safe discharge plan, even though one was requested days prior due to these ongoing and unresolved safety hazards. She has increased anxiety from trauma from this experience, and this is just the highlights. There has been no acknowledgement or apology for the week of suffering, as not only her mental and physical state declined in their "care" Long version: This is not a few bad apples scenario. The issues are widespread and systematic and come from the top. The entire facility is filthy. Surprise, surprise, they had no supplies, so I could clean or sanitize her area. So be prepared to bring your own cleaning supplies. Dated photos taken AFTER the room was "DEEP CLEANED", which was only done following our repeated concerns being voiced to "management" regarding infection and sanitation. Staff such as Angelique are so ratchet and disrespectful that they don't even belong working at a prison, much less with vulnerable elders who need care. Other staff, such as Nakia, Nurse Karen, and Joseph, are nice, but ultimately they ALL (including doctors, social workers, and managers) still witness the filth and lack of showers daily and do nothing. Mom NEVER received a shower in 8 days. They finally came in on 4-13-26 after countless emails to management and gave her a "modified bath," which consisted of someone coming into the bathroom while she was on the toilet and washing JUST HER BACK. How does washing her back only reduce the risk of UTI infection? Then they tried to lie and say she refused a shower. NONE of the staff was aware of the level of care she needed. I had to leave a sign in her room asking them not to leave her in the bathroom after a full week of her struggling and suffering. She can barely move and has very weak muscles, yet tried to do everything she could to keep herself clean often putting herself in dangerous conditions alone with bowls of water in the bathroom as staff told her it was "too much" to help her with that. This affected her ability to participate in PT and OT as she was already exhausted from struggling to clean herself. She also drank less water as she knew she wouldn't get the assistance she needed, putting her at greater risk of infection. Be prepared to bring 75% of the food for your loved one unless they have no taste buds left. They have "alternatives" that are never offered. She spoke with a PA twice and never talked to a DR or social worker ever. She was left overnight without a functioning call bell and was told to yell "nurse" if she needed something. I'm sure your loved one choking on food can yell "nurse" right? Staffing issue: The same staff members responsible for helping patients with toileting are the same ones responsible for "passing trays". So 3 times a day, your loved one will sit in urine and feces for extended periods as they do not have proper staffing. This is not the employee's fault. This is directly the owner and managers' fault for understaffing the facility to dangerous levels. Might as well deal with the ants and small rooms at Futurecar

Not only that, but it is impossible to get any kind of help or resolution for any concern. My family member is declining medically. He has developed bedsores, likely because he's been kept in the same position way too much of the time, as he's been in that position every time I've visited except one. He got a cut on his face (from being accidentally hit with a piece of medical equipment at King David) that was ignored until it was infected, despite us asking for medical attention. He has dietary needs that are not being met whatsoever despite us speaking with the dietician. They are not complicated or difficult requests. He is not eating because the food is awful to him and gives him "terrible stomach pain." King David has not made any accommodation to get him plainer, simpler foods. The dietician, Ayala, ordered Ensure. It took the nursing staff 5 days to get an Ensure to him. I spoke with Ayala at 10 AM on 5/27, and she said that her job is just to place the orders, but she will "continue working with the nursing staff" for Ensure and the kitchen staff for requested foods. She explained that it is NOT her job to bring food or Ensure to patients, even if the nursing and kitchen staffs are not honoring the orders she's placed and she's already been "working with them" for three weeks unsuccessfully. Patients do not actually have menu choices. The nursing staff said that everyone gets the same meal. If you request something else, you get either a tuna salad sandwich or an egg salad sandwich - whatever they have. At least Ayala, the dietician, answered the phone, however. The social workers have not returned calls from me. The Director of Nursing, Terrence, has not returned my call. The administrator (or director or general manager - I've been given all three titles for him), Dany Donaty, has not returned my call. The doctor of record, Dr. Katherine Gordillo Lopez, has not returned my call. When calling the number given for her, there are options to select - private practice patient, hospital patient, or nursing home patient. If you go through all of the nursing home options, there are 35. How can one person be the doctor for patients in 35 facilities in addition to a private practice? My conclusion is that if you have a loved one at King David and you have any questions or concerns, it seems to be impossible to get any kind of answers or assistance for them. On May 26th, I was told, "There are no straws anywhere in the building." For a nursing home/rehab facility that has patients with unsteady or injured hands, how is that reasonable? Anyone who works there could be tasked with driving to a store to purchase straws. I see comments on reviews of King David stating, "We are so sorry to hear that you feel your experience with us has not met our high standards of quality care and service. We take feedback extremely seriously and encourage you to reach out to us directly . . . Please call us at (410) 486-1500 at your earliest convenience. We look forward to hearing from you." That comment is ridiculous. I have reached out directly by calling that number at least 8 times. I got no return calls and the dietician, Ayala, is unwilling to help. However, if anyone returns my calls, particularly Mr. Donaty and a social worker, I have several suggestions to improve the standard of care at King David so that patients are treated with humanity and properly cared for medically. In the meantime, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
