I finally made my way to the infamous Long Branch Poultry Farm and it did not disappoint! I purchased a rotisserie chicken, chicken with dumplings soup, baked beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad, and an apple pie. When I cut into that chicken, the juices were running through each and every piece! It was so full of flavor that I do not think I will ever be able to eat rotisserie chicken cooked anywhere else ever again. The coleslaw and macaroni salad were made perfectly. Not too much mayonnaise, not too dry, not too salty, just perfect. Next visit I will have to give the potato salad a try. The baked beans were just to die for!!! I only purchased a half pound which was plenty for a couple of meals for two of us, but I will definitely purchase a larger serving size the next time I go. That's how much I enjoyed those beans. How best to complete a dinner? A great homemade apple pie. Moving on to the chicken with dumplings soup. I was so looking forward to it because everywhere that I have read about this soup it had been described as a wholesome comfort food that everyone would enjoy. It flopped in flavor and it was nothing more than chicken stock with dumplings. I thought it would have had some chicken, vegetables and dumplings in it. So now I know. They sure know how to cook a juicy, tasty, tender chicken!!!!! Their side dishes and homemade pies are wonderful. I am so glad that I finally got to try their food. Cash only. Unfortunately all of their sides have unhealthy ingredients......high fructose corn syrup, natural flavor, xanthum gum, hydrogenated soybean oil all inflammatory. Would gladly pay for better ingredients. And I did eat the chicken and had a weird aftertaste. Not sure if it was the skin or the actual chicken meat itself. I tried the rotisserie chicken- delicious snd very fresh tasting! Fell off the bone, juicy! The apple pie was the best we ever had- not only tasted homemade, but had sooo many apples- unlike most that have a high crust with very little filling, this was filled to the crust and was obviously made with both experience and love! The only problem I have is that they only take cash- I'd buy everything they have if only I could use a credit card..! read more

We were looking forward to a much reviewed juicy chicken and instead got an old one with rubbery meat stuck to the bone. Extra baking in our oven did nothing to help the pathetic situation. The three people standing around trying to sell us anything, all emphasized what a chicken treat we were in for. I should have known better as suddenly our 'designated' chicken appeared on the counter in a closed brown paper bag, perhaps a leftover from the back from another day - or two. I guess getting rid of it was more important than our return. With no prices posted anywhere, our receipt didn't even break down the exorbitant amount of cash we paid. We have been buying our rotisserie chickens, potato salad, noodle salads from Kyle for 30 years and everything has ALWAYS been perfectly prepared. His chickens are cooked to perfection - moist and flavorful, and Kyle's chopped chicken liver and soups are to die for - better than my grandmother made them! I was legitimately shocked that this place doesn't have dozens if not hundreds of rave Yelp reviews (like it does on Google and FB). It's one of those "if you know you know places", as some people have been coming weekly for years! If you haven't tried the blue cheese dip, you'd better get some for your next Super Bowl or Fourth of July party. The quinoa salad (especially the Autumn version) is epic and the pie selection is insane. The food here has always been amazing but what makes them even better is how well they are handling COVID precautions. On Thanksgiving we were able to wait in a safe, socially distanced line while they used their window to hand over orders. They handled the volume of people perfectly, following all CDC guidelines. On calmer days I have noticed that they have social distance markers on the floor. No need to roast a turkey on Thanksgiving, they do it for me now. Open Thanksgiving and Christmas Day! My family and I have been going here for generations. The food and service are always consistent and courteous. They have been open since the late 30's. They don't have a website or facebook page. I haven't been able to find the business hours listed anywhere, but there is a hand-painted sign in the window that says "Open 8am-6pm, Closed Mondays" No dining room, just take-out. Went there 3pm Christmas day and got 2 chickens and 3 pies. Rotisserated turkey and coconut cream pie are my fav's. read more
