Our friends have enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and service at Frasers many times before with their other friends during weekends so they were familiar with the neighborhood. The streets were narrow, so street parking was limited; we opted to park in one of the nearby paid parking lots. This charming neighborhood evolved from its 19th-century European colonial farming and flour mills to today's commercial center on Mt Eden Road. The narrow streets of this area showed its transition from a horse-drawn bus route for business people and residents to the introduction of the electric tramway. Also, the buildings that had been built during the late 19th century now have new businesses in them, which maintain the historical vintage appearance. Walking into Frasers, we were comforted by its retro-modern coffeehouse interior and a host immediately greeted us to seat our group. The host provided us with menus and also encouraged us to take a peek at their freshly made in-house pastries. It was good to see such a varied assortment of savory and sweet products, which we all agreed would complement hot coffee beverages. Our server/host was friendly and quite expressive while describing the menu items. We placed our food and beverage orders with him, and within a few minutes, he brought us perfectly brewed coffee beverages, two at a time, from the barista. Meanwhile, because we had requested that some of our pastries be heated, he delivered them after serving the coffee. The coffee beverages were served at a perfect temperature and complemented our snack selections. We were impressed by the friendly and efficient service, the flavors and textures of the pastries we tried, and the value. However, the noise level in this coffee house seemed a bit loud, especially with the music playing, and there were times during our coffee break when our friends or we couldn't hear the entire conversation at the table without raising our voices. Unfortunately, the cafe just meant I'd spend more on drink and possibly food. I was seated fairly quickly but it took time for the waiter to return to provide a menu, water, and to take my actual order. I only went with a cider but that took a while to come out and when I was done, I had to wait some time to pay. The cafe is lovely, but the service is a bit distracted.

I was barely greeted by the first, whom informed me that yes, they still had highchairs. During my meal this staff member took a seat in the booth next to me to talk for ten minutes to their friend about smoking in cars and how their whole family smokes etc etc. Very unprofessional and off putting. Then when clearing my dishes I thanked them & felt like I shouldn't have with the look I was given. Again, the same happened when paying for my meal & I wasn't even asked how it was. The second staff member when noticing my presence immediately welcomed me to grab a seat & they would bring the highchair over. This person took my order, served my coffee and food & obviously enjoyed their job. I enjoyed a generous sized omelette which was light and fluffy and steaming hot when it arrived on the table. The coffee was very good too. The interior changes have given the café a fresh, contemporary face lift with quirky colored cardboard animal heads (think stag, rhinoceros, etc) adorning the walls and a striking rouge color theme throughout.
