What an amazing experience! I have done this twice and both times I had so much fun! I first did the pinup calendar shoot. Arrived in the morning, they do your hair and makeup and make you feel like a queen. Erin helped me pick the right outfit for each month. I even got to to change my hairstyle a few times. My husband LOVES the calendar and goes back through the months every year even though the dates are off. The second time I went for a quick two look shoot for a boudoir look. Same process and the crew makes you feel so comfortable in your own skin. It doesn't matter how self conscious you are, you will feel great after Erin does the edits. You can order prints, a Framed portrait or a book with all your photos. If you have ever wanted to do some modeling pictures but don't know where to start, and don't necessarily want them to be used for anything other than making you feel awesome, this is the thing to do. If you want to do a great gift for a loved one, you found it! If someone wants to get a pinup tattoo of you, do this and take it to your tattoo artist! Seriously. Lone Star owner and photographer, Erin Shepard, is one of the best photographers I have ever seen. Her work is self evident as seen by her photos. Her wardrobe room is absolutely phenomenal! Your choice of clothing for the photo shoot can include custom made pin up clothing by "Sew She Said" and "What Katie Did" to name a few. You will never find such a large and varied compilation of vintage clothing anywhere. I mean anywhere. Lone Star has multiple studio rooms and props for any occasion or style of shoot. My first shoot was outside on her beach set with a row of surfboards on sand and beach background (right in Temple TX)! I have even taken photos ice skating while it was snowing! I booked a photo shoot here for one of their one day specials (Pirates or Mermaids). I, was a mermaid. They're located in Killeen, which is a bit of a drive from Austin but well worth it. Here's why. The themed shoots have a decorated set and they are gorgeous. The one she had for the Pirates/Mermaids was a big treasure chest with all kinds of booty. Take a look at her photos and you'll see what I mean. Hair & Makeup is included in your package. I believe she works with multiple make up artists. The one there that day was Wendy of Blood & Glitter. I've used her several times (mainly for Carnaval) and everyone is always blown away by her work. Wendy transforms you. If you have an idea bring it with you. She's really nice and fun to talk to. Wardrobe. They do partner with Sew She Said who does custom pinup clothes as well as the costumes. There is a boutique and they have corsets and retro dresses, among other things for sale. Some packages include costumes. Otherwise, Erin has a magic closet that you can go through. If you have something special in mind, either bring it or ask her. Erin helps you with poses and I felt completely at ease. I was able to see my photos immediately after my shoot and my package included 3 images. Then she takes them, retouches them and email you the images. You can then print as many in whatever sizes you like. It was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday and I love my photos. I will warn you that it is addicting. I already have another themed shoot booked (Marie Antoinette) and I really want a Hollywood Glam one. This girl who loves glitter and shiny things is having to restrain herself. This is me!!!! It was only a few hours but in those few hours It built up my self esteem and that day forward I find time to put make up on do things for myself. Is it work it? YES!! I made a decision that I was going to lose 50 pounds by my birthday and to celebrate I scheduled a pin up party in January 2014. I worked out in the cold, the rain and the "i don't want to" all the while my eyes on the prize of this photo shoot, and I am delighted to report I lost those 50 pounds. The day came and we headed to Temple in the car and as I walked in there was a beautiful plate of macaroons and champagne to celebrate MOI! I was treated like a movie star on my birthday! As an actress, I had some trepidation about posing for the camera but with Erin's deft coaching, I took to it like a starlet on her first press junket! I could go on and on about the picture perfect posing advice and vintage 1940s make up and hair to die for not to mention a closet full of pin up dreams waiting to be realized!This little picturesque house in Temple was just what the doctor ordered for this former fat girl.. I left Erin's studio feeling like the absolute diva I truly am. It has led to greater confidence every time I audition for a show and any time I have a photo shoot.I have done two photo shoots with other studios since January 2014 and am delighted to say I have been bitten by the modeling bug and will be back to Lone Star Pin up in 2016 for sure! read more

OMG! Doing a photo shoot at Lone Star Pin-up was one of the greatest experiences of my life! Yes, I know that sounds a little dramatic but how else can I convey how truly incredible it was?!?! Everyone was uber professional from Stephanie who greeted me when I arrived and directed me through the process to Wendy from Blood and Glitter for makeup and hair. Incidentally, her transformation of me into a Marilyn-esque pin-up was spot on! The shoot itself was awesome in the truest sense of the word. Erin (the photographer) really knows her stuff! Before the shoot I would have said I am not photogenic but this lady made me gorgeous in EVERY shot! If I HAD to give Lone Star Pin-Up a criticism it would be that they made it pretty damn difficult to choose between the photos I wanted to keep!!! read more

This was my first time here, I was rushed and didn't feel like anyone cared about what I was asking or saying. I informed the girls that I have anxiety and was feeling very overwhelmed. They didn't take a moment to say " do you need a minute, do you want a water" nothing like that. They seemed more worried about getting me in and out vs giving me the experience of getting my photos taken. I'm very disappointed and ended up with no photos because I ended up with a sheet for a costume and there were like 30 or 40 pictures if that to choose from. Overall just not happy at all that I am out $75 for 2 hours of my time wasted and side note the spounges used were not clean, she sprayed them with alcohol I'm assuming but that doesn't make it any better when you charge the sitting fee that they do. My suggestion would be that if you have any concerns about your first time, that this is not a first time user friendly place. I won't be going back and wish I could get my $75 back. The topper is that when I decided I didn't want to pay $100 for them to email me a picture, she tried charging me tax on the sitting fee.. it was $6 and change and when I said I have a $10 or $4 she informed me she has no change and that they could take the $10 but I wouldn't get change. They ended up not charging me the tax. read more

The owner, Erin, is professional but fun. She is 110% into this mission of her business, which is to make women feel confident and sexy. I purchased a special deal and had one photo shoot with her, and it was a great experience. She hires one of the best makeup artists in Texas, Blood and Glitter Make-up, to do hair and make-up and then she directs the photo shoot to make sure you get the most flattering poses. The costume closet is also to die for! The staff makes sure the studio feels safe and comfortable for newbies like me. I do wish they immediately sat down with me and explained how the timeline of the photo shoot worked because I felt a little disoriented at times, but since it was a special, they had a lot of people coming in and out that day.
