Climbing on roofs for me
Mason A.

Jason has everything you need in a good home inspector. He shows up on time, has high quality inspection reports, uses technology paired with vast experience, offers intelligent advice on your home purchase, and will consult other providers to help meet your home buying/renovation needs! I have hired him twice for inspections in the Converse and Alamo Heights areas of San Antonio, TX. He has a wide range of areas he will inspect and shows up ready with the appropriate tools and devices to conduct a quality inspection. The inspection software he uses makes the inspection report clear, informative, and thorough. This makes negotiating repairs with the seller have strong evidence, clear pictures, and great detail. He can provide guidance that is truly valuable because he is also a licensed realtor! His wealth of knowledge goes beyond the report and he runs a business that is both professional and efficient. Do yourself a favor and go with lone star; there is no other inspector you will ever need!

A house with damage that he spotted.

Great inspector! Jason is efficient, knowledgeable, and cost-effective! I would recommend him to anyone. We had to use him for three homes until we found the perfect home. Great guy and is always on time! His communication is outstanding!

Good Guys Home Inspection

This review is long overdue -- Paul Grew from Good Guys Home Inspection inspected my home back in…read morelate February 2025, and I'm still incredibly grateful for the service he provided. First, major kudos to Good Guys for their fair pricing. In a market where some inspectors charge $500 or more, their rates were refreshingly reasonable without sacrificing quality. This was my second home-buying experience, and I can confidently say my inspector from 2017 doesn't even come close to how awesome Paul was. The difference in quality, communication, and professionalism was night and day. Paul truly set a new standard for what a home inspection should be. As an active duty military member buying a new build remotely, I needed someone reliable, detail-oriented, and communicative -- and Paul checked every box. He's also prior military, and it shows. His professionalism, precision, and clear communication reflected the kind of discipline and care that comes from that background. From the start, Paul was personable and responsive. I actually called around during the Christmas holiday week, and he was one of the few who picked up the phone. He patiently answered all my questions, giving me genuine peace of mind without any salesy pressure or false promises. The home ended up needing three re-inspections before closing, and Paul never once rushed the process. He worked hand-in-hand with my realtor to make sure the builder addressed every single issue -- we were able to firmly delay closing until everything was properly resolved. His attention to detail was phenomenal. Though the report had a number of findings, the ones that stood out to me were nails protruding from the roof, gaps in the flooring, and a major gap in the roof fascia that would've easily let critters into the attic. I never would've caught those things on my own. If you're in the military or just want an honest, thorough inspector who truly advocates for you, I can't recommend Paul Grew enough. Even months later, I'm still thankful for how smooth and supported he made this process feel.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Used them twice and will never use them again. Paid them to do one property…read morein Austin which went fine. Bought a 2nd property and they quoted me a price that included a separate fee for a pool inspection. I was VERY clear that the prior owner had drained the pool and I was aware of a crack and that it looked bad, but I needed a real inspection done to identify the specific issues. They said they would do that. I said okay. I then got a report that simply said that there was no power to pool equipment and to get somebody else to inspect it. They then repeatedly said the pool looked bad and had cracks with no specific info of identifiable problems or any new info at all, and to GET ANOTHER INSPECTION FROM SOMEBODY ELSE. The house had power. The equipment is connected to the pool. All he had to do was flip the breaker to get power to it. Regardless, since I was given no new info and was told to get somebody else to inspect it because apparently this company isn't capable of doing a pool inspection despite charging for pool inspections, I simply asked for a refund for the pool part of the inspection. I was then ignored for days, and then told no because they had done it when all they did was recommend getting somebody else to inspect it. No equipment was tested. No new info was added beyond what we had told them and knew already. I have 20 properties and have gone through this process with a ton of inspectors. Never have I had an inspection company screw me over to keep roughly $100 in this manner. Maybe use them for a basic inspection of the general house, but every single add on inspection for sprinklers, pools, etc is a complete scam where they will tell you to get a real inspector to look at it while charging you for that advice.

His attention to detail is truly unmatched. He found squeaking on our subfloor that my family hadn't even noticed!! I love the ease of reading his reports because they're so detailed, yet simple. He is so responsive and helpful, not only throughout the scheduling process, but even after his job is done. He is polite, professional, and a true gem. YOU DONT NEED ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT BRANDON!!! Obviously I cannot say enough good things about him. I will continue to recommend him to anyone that needs a home inspection! Thanks again Brandon.

I recently needed a foundation inspection of a rental property that has experienced significant…read morewall cracking in just a 2-year time frame. I was contacted by Greenworks, and they provided detailed information about their inspection process, as well as samples of the report they produce. My inspector, Josh McReynolds, was awesome. He was very detailed in his inspection, even identifying quite a few cracks that we had not detected. I would estimate that he took 100 photos. He described what he was looking for, and the meaning of any issues he documented. I was a bit surprised by the report, however (which was prepared by others at Greenworks using Josh's photos, notes, and measurements and signed by a structural engineering P.E.). Considering the amount of damage inside the house, I was expecting to read that the foundation needed repair work, but instead learned that the measured results for deflection and tilt were well within acceptable limits. Considering I have numerous large cracks in walls (and one large crack in the ceiling), cracking tile, and multiple doors that would not fully close or latch, this was surprising to me. I can only imagine how much damage would have to occur before a foundation was considered unacceptable. I had thought that the age of the property (7 years) and the rapidity of the damage (within last 2 years), would factor in, but apparently not.

It's very detailed and structured. From checking if foundation is in place, if there cracks in nook and corner to any cosmetic changes, they include it all. They can also check The health of your pipes (if they have any debris from construction ) as an additional service . They found out some nice flaws that saved us lot of money. Definitely, highly recommended .
