Don't go here unless you want to get ripped off I took in over 500 coins in one day doing five different transactions because it was for five different people. I got mixed up on my own. I had three containers with 25 in it I had one container with 20 and I had a 4 ounce silver bar and they only gave me the money for 94 coins by my calculations that's 99 but because I had so much going on I was not able to realize the mess up until I got home and was able to get my mind straight I called in twice went up the next day was told that he would call back the next day or the day after finally the day after that I called in for them to try to make it right that way I could continue to to do business with them they told me in the cameras that my friend was in the way and so there was no way that they could give me the money for those five coins WOW is all I could think or say read more

Beware of dealing with Lone star Coins.I had sold the gold and silver 5 or 6 times before my LAST time. I had decided to sell my $20 dollar good Eagle. 1904 , graded at 62. They had offered me 1850 six years ago, but this day he offered me 1800. He said it was a n ordinary date. I decide to take the money. When I get home I called a friend who is a collector and he looked up the coin And it is valued at over $3000. I know he is in business to make money, but I think he took advantage of me. I can work with staff on the weekend - but every time I've stopped by M-F I get lowballed well below spot price if I want to sell, and upcharged from weekend prices when spot hasn't moved that much. Can rip you off when buying a rare key date coin from you if you do not know about it. Jay offered me dog meat on a raw Gold Dollar. He also overcharged me on raw Morgan's, they were cheaper NGC/PCGS slabbed on eBay! One of the younger employees tried to lowball me on a 1/10 ounce American Gold Eagle. Dewey once just barged in and swiped a tray of coins I was going through buying. Everyone is known to highball the uninformed customer on merchandise at times. read more

I've dealt with Lone Star Coins for years. Buying Silver coins and bullions I usually pay $1.50 - $2.00 over spot. Since the price of silver recently took a dive, they've taken advantage of their customers and are now charging $5.00 over spot. Will never use them again! read more

Poor experience. Rude. Unacceptable behavior. We walked out! My wife and I walked to Lone Star Coins and was warmly greeted by a fellow named Josue. Our intention was to inquire about the possibility of acquiring a number of 50-peso gold coins and buy other minor stuff such as coin and stamp envelopes. Josue spoke to me mostly in the Spanish language, but couldn't help me, as he was in a rush to leave. He recommended that I talk to another guy (apparently the owner), who was sitting on the other side of the store. As I approached the other guy, he refused to look at me. I asked him a question about coin protectors, which he refused to answer. A lady sitting next to him prompted him to help me and he replied, in a crude and rude manner, "I don't know what the hell he is saying." He was obviously referring to my Spanish accent, which is not even that thick, as I have been living in Texas since I was a kid. The lady reprimanded him for his rudeness, but he still refused to acknowledge me. My wife and I left the store quietly. Being of Spanish descent, we seldom experience racism in San Antonio. The city is a peaceful place and, with a few notable exceptions, people of all races, ethnicity and backgrounds are very friendly. It is unfortunate that people like this guy still carry such a negative attitude. I will not attempt to do business with them any more. Lone Star Coins lost a prospective customer who could have given them much business. Peace. read more

They were very helpful. My nephews have a lot of coins that they need valued and I have confidence that Lone Star Coin will give them an honest deal. We had 1921 Morgan silver dollars that are basically only worth melt value. We had gone to a metals dealer who offered $10-12 and when I told them they immediately said that was way too low and offered $16-18 which is much more reasonable since the silver is worth around $20. I have been to this place twice to purchase silver and both times was treated very rudely. In addition they don't take credit cards for purchase, only cash or check. If you purchase by check there is a mandatory 2 week wait before you can pick up your purchase. Maybe they have been cheated before but I find it weird that I can purchase a $4000 gun at the Saxet gun show and pay by check and get my gun right then. But at Lone Star coins if I try to purchase $1000 worth of silver I have to wait 2 weeks before picking up my purchase. I won't try to do business with them again. There are plenty of other coin shops. read more

Checked 4 places and the pricing ranged from $250-$440 for a ring I was selling. Very good customer service, but who are you kidding? When selling something, you're not looking for a friend, you're looking for the highest offer! That's what Lone Star gave me - the most cash! read more
