They have a small in-house bakery which I feel could be a little better. there is a market for fresh cakes. There is also a butchers/deli-counter, small newsagents and a Post Office in Euro Spar. They regularly good offers so watch out and you may get that Ben& Jerry's Special for half price. I once couldn't find my favourite tinned "Marrowfat Peas" and asked the manager could he get them in. They were on the shelf within 2 days!

I also wanted to see if they had creamer, that didn't work out as well either. But while I was in there, I could not believe my eyes. The bread, the food, the alcohol, the toys, etc. how much cheaper everything was! I was in there for about an hour and could not believe that here in America we spend so much more on food than what is really needed. The convenience of having so many grocery stores everywhere was also great. What was interesting is that you walk through a barrier with a security guard do your shopping, and then you go to an automated checkout. To walk out of the barrier you have to scan your receipt. It's pretty convenient and I see now here in America Safeway specially in some areas they have come to the same exact process. Well, I walked in there to get coffee, I ended up getting a baguette cheese, meat, cream, cream cheese, coffee, smoked salmon, and a few other items and let me tell you it was delicious. The workers there are not that friendly, and if you want to buy alcohol, you have to do it at 10:30 AM. The store was very clean compared to some stores here in America and there was a lot to choose from.

This late, many of the staffed areas and the fresh foods were a little picked over but I was able to find something takeaway for tonight's dinner, a big bottle of sparkling water, some biscuits ("cookies" in American) both for tonight and for the suitcase and some very inexpensive Cadbury's chocolate bars that might actually make it home as a gift. Checkout was easy and since I had planned ahead with my backpack, I did not need to purchase a shopping bag today. Was it a "super value"? Yes, I would say the pricing is good. I'd say they have a pretty good selection of most things but I'd agree with one earlier review that I read which stated they don't always have everything. For instance they do not have oven mits, which is fair enough. Surprisingly though they did not have any soup stock available which was called for in my recipe. If you are crafty though you can find substitutions well enough if there is something available such as a simple soup mix. The prices were pretty fair in my opinion and I was truly impressed with their wine selection which was disproportionately robust for the size of the store. When I was there, there were a few tils not working and I'd say that if this occurred on a regular basis then perhaps this grocery would need to be bumped down to a three star rating. But assuming the best, this was a pretty good spot to get my supplies prior to quarantining and it also gets good marks for having a convenient location right next to Heuston station here in auld Kilmainham town. Social distancing protocols were also well in effect. I will definitely return when the need arises!

And the window is adorned with makeshift signs telling you about the latest set of bargains. It's not exactly ideally laid out but as a local store it pretty much sells everything you might need in a hurry. And it's definitely not ripping off its customers. You can get a fairly nice bottle of wine in there for about €17, which is usually unheard of in a smaller outlet like this. Very friendly staff too.

After dancing the night away, we were hungry. Couldn't find anything open, so we decided to hit up Spar for some food. Our initial stop here was just to get some provisions such as red bull, water, etc. The second stop was for the drunken eats. Luckily they have a fair amount of ready to eat food. We grabbed some sandwiches - Chicken & Egg Cub, Chicken & Pepper Sandwich. Also, got some chips - Guiness and Flame Grilled Steak. The chips were something I never tried before. It wasn't bad at all. Beer and meat chips, who knew? I have no idea how much we spent here since the hubs took care of everything and I forgot to get a pic of the receipt. But we were staying in the area, so convenient for provisions and late night eats. REVIEW #4112

So I did find some Doritos flavors at Spar that i hadn't seen anywhere else during my time in Dublin. It's a fully stocked store with an array of items from chips, candy, and cookies to an assortment of grab&go sandwiches and instant ramen. This location is nestled on the corner of a busy, crowded street. No self-checkout. You have to pay at the register. The customer service was a bit lackluster.

You know, the bread in here is nice but i have gotten better elsewhere, although i do really like their pastries. what i would normally come to this shop for is the things that cant really be gotten anywhere else. like they do that lucky charms cereal from America and they usually have a better range of ritter sport chocolate. also they have a good wine section. Sometimes they even have amazing deals like half-price pork loins combined with free mushrooms.
