Can't say enough about this place. Took an eco-tour in the estuary yesterday with a fantastic guide (feel like a jerk for not remembering his name, but dude you were awesome!) who got dolphins to chase our boat! Today they set us up with a great rental (we chose 22' Cobia because pontoons are for grandmas) which we took to Dog Beach for lunch, then out over blue water to Sanibel and back. Every person we encountered was friendly and accommodating. 5 stars isn't enough to cover the fantastic experience. read more

Have not rented from Fishtale for several years now. I can understand some of the employees attitudes because of how frustrating it is to deal with the public. BUT there is no excuse for the way they treated us after we rented boats from them for years. We always partnered with a friend and the fee was paid on his credit card.We always got a great pontoon boat under his name.We did this for 5 years. He left Florida and I rented a pontoon in my name. It was such a piece of junk we did not make it out of the marina. They gave us another pontoon that they took off the scrap pile.Torn seats,dirty, bad motor. I checked this place after having ice cream at Truly Scrumptious and checked out the boats for hire. What sold me was how nice everyone seemed to be. We a pontoon boat for half a day and had a blast. Highly recommended. Haven't tried any of the other boat rental places, so can't say whether this place is above or below average, but I did see an elementary school party rent a boat here so assuming they did their research ahead of time, that may add to the recommendation. An added bonus is that we saw manatees right off their dock. Not 5* because I thought it was quite expensive, but again no references to compare to. read more

We had an AMAZING time at Fish Tale Marina! Randy was our guide, we went at 10am. It was $46 for both of us, and well worth it. There were only about 10 other people on our dolphin tour. Two other families and a couple, besides us. Randy was funny and informative. We learned about the different birds we saw, areas we were boating past, and dolphins/manatees that we saw. The really nice thing is that he actually asked, while we were on the boat, "Does anyone want their pictures taken?" It was a great touch. I wasn't sure when to ask, especially since he was driving the boat, and he took that pressure off. It was a super nice gesture and we got some great pictures of us on our trip. We saw multiple dolphins AND when we docked, he told us/showed us where to see manatees, and we saw them too :) I actually enjoyed it more than I think I would have enjoyed a a jetski tour through the bay because we were able to take great pictures with our DSLR. I highly recommend going here for your dolphin tour. read more

We had Jason as our "captain". Wow. What an awful experience. We lost over 30 Hooks because the fish kept biting them off. We only brought 1 fish in during our 5 hour trip. That actually doesn't bother me that much as much as his horrible attitude. I'm not a pro fisherman, exactly why we paid to have someone take us out. The first fish that bit I was reeling in and of course the line broke (97% did). I asked him "is there a way to prevent the line from breaking?" His reply was "well the fish have teeth" in a totally smart A manner. Seriously?! A) I'm not a pro fisherman. Exactly why we're paying you to take us out B) You didn't answer the question C) Don't mouth off to your clients who are paying you When I was asking for pointers on successfully reeling them in he continued his smart aleck and condescending manner. Not only that but he managed to accidentally hit the boat on a bridge pillar even with the trolling motor on. The people on top of the bridge fishing were laughing at us. So basically he was terrible and was condescending as hell. Worst of all worlds. Take your money, experience and time anywhere else. read more

This is a very nice marina. They have a great ships store too. There are charters, rentals (kayaks too), bait and clean restrooms. We fished with Captain Jon Fetter and had a GREAT 1/2 day trip. We caught 4 nice Redfish, a ton of Mangrove Snapper, 3 Catfish, a Jack and a Sheepshead. We also saw a bunch of Dolphins and tons of birds - great trip. The Captain cleaned the 2 Redfish we kept too and we ate them the next day. Delicious! read more

We went on an eco tour with Captain Justin and it was amazing! just on our way out (within the first 5 minutes) we saw a dolphin and our Captain knew so much about it! He knew the breed of dolphin, what he was doing and told us all about the kind! He was extremely knowledgeable on the animals and the area's history and he was a very friendly guy. Rented an 18' pontoon yesterday and had a great time tooling around the channels. Head north in the channel and you will likely see dolphins. When you get to the bridge follow the channel past the shrimp boats to a blue and yellow restaurant called Parrot Bay. Dock at dock B and it's a short walk to the restaurant. Grouper fish and chips are excellent and they serve quickly. But we went on a weekday and I recommend the same. You will be back on your way in no time. Headed back down south to big Carlos pass where you will have just enough time left on a half day rental to beach the boat at the mouth of the gulf to enjoy a quick dip in the waters. The people at Fish Tale are nice with good sense of humor and helpful. Prices were very reasonable for a half day of entertainment. The boat we had worked fine and was in good shape for a rental. I saw some real doggy looking rentals while we were out there. TIPS: bring a cooler with soda and ice...but not too much..remember there are no toilets....lol... Bring beach towels. Bring a music source... The radio on our boat was shot. Bring or wear your swimsuit if you plan to beach and or jump overboard. Nothing like cruising the waters in Florida listening to a little Buffet! Don't forget your camera! And have fun! read more

My only gripe would be that when we asked the staff about good fishing spots, he kinda faltered and gave an answer which pretty much translated to 'just go where its wet'. We used to enjoy renting from here but have been very disappointed the last few times. Today we rented and the guy who sent us off said ropes are underneath to tie off and we ended up having no ropes because employees don't do their job of checking the boats or showing customers exactly where to make sure you are fully equipped. The boats are completely beat up and not clean, our Bimini had big rips in it, none of the gages ever work on any of the boats. He said "oh if you scratch or rip something odds are we won't notice it" that seemed very poor to say. You pay a good amount to not have a decent boat and have it fully equipped. We will be renting elsewhere from now on. read more

Rented a pontoon here. Fair pricing but the boats are kinda "well used". The pontoon ran great but there were tears in the seats, only 2 cup holders and pretty bare bones. Gas is not included in the rental price (not surprising but good to know, 4hrs driving almost the whole time cost us like $25 in gas). Also, kind of embarrassing driving a boat around with their very bright and noticeable aquarium looking image wrapped around the boat advertising the marina. Guys at the marina are knowledgeable, nice and helpful. Rental experience is similar to Snook Bright(?) but I think those boats are a bit nicer. read more

We had a wonderful time fishing with Captain Dennis last weekend. He took great care of us from baiting our hooks, taking the fish off, and cleaning the MANY fish we caught! Horrible customer service. Rented a pontoon boat for a half day. Ten minutes on the boat, our radio stopped working. We called, and was basically told "it was the luck of the draw if you get a working radio". If that is the case, they should explain that so we knew if needed to bring our own radio or not. When renting a boat, having ALL working electronics is pretty important. When we returned the boat, we mentioned it again. But were treated horribly and they made it perfectly clear they don't care about customer satisfaction. There are several other boat companies in the area that actually make sure you rent what they say you are getting. I would recommend using another company, unless you don't care if you get "the luck of the draw" on a working boat or not. They are one of the more expensive companies too, so again to not have everything working they claim you get, is extremely poor customer service. read more

We were vacationing on Ft. Myers Beach, and our boat was docked at our motel. My handicapped brother met us at the marina just to board the boat. The staff couldn't have been nicer! NOT A GOOD PLACE TO RENT A BOAT, We recently were there on vacation and rented a boat for the day, we reserved a boat for 150.00 for the day and when we got there the price went up, we ended up spending almost 350.00 for the boat. The boat it self was in poor shape and every time you slowed down or deselerated it quit running, when i brought it to the attentionof the staff they said it was okay because it juast started right back up. Also the fuel gauge on the boat did not work and we had no way to check f it was full when we left with it, we only were in the back water with it and spent alot of time parked at the beach and they claim that we used 70.00 in fuel, Hard to belive but i cant prove otherwise because the boat was not maintained properly. We go to Fort Myers 2-3 times per year and have rented many boats in the area and i would never rent from Fishtale Marina again. read more

This does not include the two ladies working inside the store. There were 8 people on our boat and not one of us will be bringing our business back to Fish Tale Marina. Very disappointed. read more

We have rented from Fish Tale many times and have had a wonderful experience over and over. This time, however, we goofed. We pulled our boat onto the beach to let the kids play, and relaxed in the Florida sun so long that the tide went out. Our boat was stranded high and dry, to our embarrassment. We called for help and help arrived quickly, and more importantly, without judgment. We were ferried back to shore and assured that we were not the dopes we knew we really were. Justin was an excellent return-captain, pointing out dolphins and making us feel quite relaxed about the whole escapade. (Which, by the way, was so much fun until the actual beaching. We saw dolphins and manatees and bald eagles.) Most importantly, we did not have to pay for this mistake with our entire travel budget. There was no gouging of the idiots. We have been giving Fish Tale our business for over a decade and cannot recommend this fine group of people enough. Thanks, Justin, for rescuing our ship of fools. We will, of course, be back.
