Jan blends learning with teaching respect and self-confidence. She provides many opportunities for the kids to learn - whether through projects or field trips. Her projects are creative and fun. Jan hires good staff to help out. All staff members have been pleasant and happy to work with the kids. Her facility has a large yard for the kids to play outdoors. She has a piano on which she sometimes plays for the kids; they too have a tiny piano to play on. There is a room for them to play cooking and adventure in. It's a rich, engaging environment at The Greenhouse. Jan manages the kids in a very steady way. I think this helps them learn interpersonal skills like how to share and how to ask their turn. The kids enjoy mealtime there - she prepares nutritious meals that the children like. This month our son's kindergarten teacher told us how he pointed out that a certain shape was a rhombus. She said this was rare and she asked where he had gone to preschool. When we told her he went to Jan Green's The Greenhouse For Kids, she said, "Well, tell Jan she did a good job!" That is a great testimonial for how Jan helped him develop. We had experience at another preschool/daycare, and can attest The Greenhouse really shines. Our child attended there for a short amount of time, due to the constant closures. They then had an…read moreoutbreak of hand foot and mouth my daughter ended up with it and was sent home which is fine. We kept her home and even took her to the doctor the next day due to her fever. The doctor tested her for strep as she was not convinced it was hand foot and mouth. We ended up keeping her home for the week even though the spots were gone by Tuesday as per their policy they cannot return for 3 days after symptoms have cleared. Monday comes along and we take her there and they will not let her return because of the rash on her face, the same rash she has had since she started. We take her back to the doctor and the doctor told us she does not have hand foot and mouth and she is able to return to daycare. We let the staff know we had a note and we were met with they would not accept that note. My husband then tried multiple times to speak with the owner regarding our tuition payment as she would not be able to attend because of the rash on her face as it comes and goes. The owner let me husband know she would get back to him but never did, instead she went and cashed his check for the last month she was suppose to be there as we put in our 30 day notice. If the owner did not want to speak to my husband regarding the tuition payment as we ended up paying for two daycares for one month, she should have said it was not up for discussion. It is very poor communication on the owner.
