My daughter started at Tuckaway when she was just 6 weeks old and stayed through age 12. Now, our son, who's 20 months old, has been there since he was 6 weeks old as well. The teachers and staff have been absolutely amazing--caring, patient, loving and truly invested in each one of my children. They provide a loving, safe, and nurturing environment that feels like a home away from home. It's clear that the staff genuinely love what they do, and that makes all the difference. We feel so fortunate to have found Tuckaway. It's more than just a daycare--it's a family.

Key to note: they've never met my child. I toured this facility in the summer of 2025 and loved it. I loved the 3-year-old room, I loved the assistant director who toured with me. I was looking for a place closer to my house for my daughter, and this was about as close as you can get. It was perfect. We discussed the start date and at the tour, it seemed like it was a done deal once I turned in the paperwork. It took me a few hours to fill it all out and send it back. In that time, it was apparently determined that they couldn't support my daughter after all. My daughter has mild disabilities, yes, but is perfectly able to be with her age-appropriate peers with minimal support. Suddenly, she can't be enrolled in the 3-year-old room because they've determined, without my input, that she can't be in that room due to her disabilities. She can only be in the two-year-old room. (By the way, this is illegal -- they can't independently make this decision). But of course, there's no space in that room, so tough luck for me. Again, they had never even met her! I requested multiple times to have a phone conversation with the staff about the sudden switch in attitude, but "coincidentally" their phones were down for the next week and they couldn't do that. So I sent an email saying that we did not want her in the 2-year-old room, we want her with her age-appropriate peers, as do all of her doctors/therapists, so can we please move forward with the registration as clearly there is room in that classroom. Eventually they emailed me back to say that oh no, they're closing enrollments to that classroom now. Tough luck again. I understand when special needs are involved, some adjustments and accommodations may need to be made. However, I was very open about my daughter and the help she does or doesn't need in the tour and every single person there was very sweet and kept saying how none of that is a problem at all. That discussion had already happened when I turned in the paperwork. I'm pretty sure it's the regional director who made the call, and I actually feel sorry for the assistant director who had to be the one to keep sending along the message. But this is unacceptable. I have told, and will continue to tell, every special needs mom in our community that this clearly isn't the place for their child to be included and accepted. It hurt our family to be discriminated against so blatantly. My daughter is a beautiful and wonderful child. Her teachers at her other daycare absolutely adore her. I will continue to make the out-of-the-way drive to Chesterbrook Academy, who accepts my daughter with open arms and hearts!

The camp is a drive for us, but well worth it! Our daughter was so excited, but as a mom, I was…read moreworried she would get homesick... The camp counselors welcome them in like a cheering squad, and get them settled into their cabins first, so they can meet all their bunk mates. The itinerary for the week is very busy, they are up early, with a healthy breakfast to get them going, and they are out to the beach or the pool for their morning, then to lunch and some down time before they start the afternoon activities. Each meal they are allowed to sing and chant and stand on their seats just like in the movies, and they are allowed to BE KIDS... Then they are off to the afternoon activities which are land or dry stuff, archery, arts & crafts, skate boarding, hockey, and then off to dinner. Every night the counselors went through each cabin and got reports and sent us emails and pictures daily. We were able to email them daily and they would print the emails out and have them at their table daily for lunch. When we picked them up for the closing ceremonies, our little girl had made so many friends, and she didn't seem to miss us at all... she had a blast! Every kid gets an award at the end. It helps build friendships, fun, and lets them be kids. We will let our kids go back every chance they get!

We were given a rundown on the activities for her for the week and took a quick tour of the camp. All in all, very nice. When we picked her up she was so happy. She had the best time! She told us about swimming and boating and time at the beach. They have a skate park inside and they played basketball and just did a lot of outdoor activities. The one thing we were warned about when we picked her up was ticks. They said they have plenty of ticks since it is in the woods. After this experience I would not hesitate to send my daughter back to camp her and would love to send my son. I think he would have a blast! I wish I went to a camp like this when I was a kid... I didn't even get to go to camp.

I am personally not a fan of sports activities after 5pm so the 1:15pm class is perfect for us. The instructors have all been great with the kids. I did prefer the class when it was a bit smaller but who can blame all these kids for wanting to come here! (They also added another instructor when the class got bigger.) It's not just kids running around here, they are learning real technique & get a serious workout while having fun. I definitely recommend VIGS! PS. For anyone worried about Covid they follow all reccomendations. Masks, temperature checks, distancing, & they sanitize between each session.

Your kids are auto-enrolled in each subsequent 5-week session prior to the current session ending. They refuse to offer a refund for a 5 week session that 2 of my kids were auto enrolled in. They will not allow the payment to be applied to a different session or summer camp. Their online system does not keep track of unused sessions for make-up purposes. Customer service is not even on their radar here - staff is openly rude. Choose a better option for gymnastics for your kids! We've had a great experience at CORE Kids Academy!
