It was only a matter of time I suppose. Jardines is on the verge of becoming a hub for good coffee shops and restaurants that offer new perspectives and great cuisine. The stage has been set, all that is missing are the actors to appear from behind the curtain. Among the newer places popping up is this opening act in a little hidden plaza along Hacienda el Jacal. Local Roots pays homage to its name, highlighting seasonal and organic Mexican ingredients that come together to portray a cuisine that is not Mexican in its composition but rather in its origin.
The space itself feels like an import from the US or even Europe, but you would be surprised to learn that this concept actually comes by the way of South Africa. The shop has a chic-industrial look that lends itself to hours long conversations between friends or to leisurely sip coffee until it turns cold while reading a book. The coffee, food and pastries are complementing adornments to the place and make your stay much more enjoyable, but of course that is what you're really here for. Perfectly cooked eggs, deftly made coffee, and succulent pastries do not disappoint and leave a sense of satisfaction.
Local Roots is a perfect example of what I believe is yet to come to one of Querétaro's quaintest neighborhoods. We have good things coming to Jardines, and I, for one, cannot wait. read more
