This company was great and a pleasure to deal with until recently. I've used this company since…read more2023 and had no issues until this year. I normally select direct deposit and have the preparer fees taken from my refund, which I will never do again. Unfortunately this year, things have changed. I did not get my refund as expected. I submitted a check trace with the IRS and an investigation with Green Dot bank. Green Dot provided me with the information that my checks were already cashed. Which was news to me since I always select DD. They have also provided me with copies of the checks, complete with a signature that is very obviously not mine. Now maybe it was stolen from the mail and I wanted to give Mr. Williams benefit of the doubt. However, when I asked if he could find out what happened- he went silent after multiple attempts at following up with him. Another suspicious thing is the status in Green Dot shows a status of "Printed by tax preparer" for my refund check. Again I wanted to give him benefit of the doubt, but I think we can all guess what happened there. I am filing charges and hope to get my refund, but it may be awhile. Very stupid on his part, check fraud is a federal crime. Please beware and do not use this company for your tax preparation. Mr. Williams has done this to others, just read the reviews especially on Google.

UPDATE: January 27, 2025 - Being 78 years old and wanting to get records of my personal income tax,…read moreI called this place today to download my complete tax records on my PIN drive to transfer to another tax agent. I was told by, I assume, the owner of Downriver Incomtax that ALL of my tax records were deleted. I believe deleting my tax records from their files is illegal since they must keep records for the IRS for possible auditing. I believe any reputable company would keep tax records for at least 10 years. Is something illegal happening that I am not aware of? Did this company cook their books to avoid paying taxes on my payments over the years? Those are questions that popped up in my mind. Anyone in their right mind may have the same thoughts, along with the IRS. My right is to post my beliefs without being condemned and taken to court. This guy said that he talked to an attorney. I believe that he wouldn't have to talk to an attorney if he did nothing wrong. The beliefs are simply beliefs every American is entitled to. The following was posted on Aug. 20, 2024: Retired with fixed income. DON'T WALK AWAY. RUN AWAY. If I could give minus five stars, I would. I wanted to enter tax-deductible info in my 2022 and 2023 personal income tax DURING THE 2022 & 2023 YEARS, but this company failed miserably. This company failed to enter this info, causing a loss of A RETURN FOR over $300. I notified them after I realized THEIR mistake and asked for a revision to be filed at their expense since it was THEIR MISTAKE. They said I would have to pay $75 each year to file the revision. Are they sick? It was their mistake. They received the info on time during the respective years with their cocky attitude. IT IS EASY FOR THEM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A RETIRED 77-YEAR-OLD.

Searching the internet for help I came upon dozens of firms who claimed they could assist me with the IRS, but I knew picking the wrong company could cause me further problems. One of the best decisions I ever made was to choose Stephen Weisberg and the W Tax Group to aid me in what looked like a hopeless dilemma. From the very first phone call I was calmed and assured that they could help me. There is comfort in dealing with people who are qualified and excel at what they do. Everyone I spoke with at W Tax Group, the staff, the accountants, the attorneys, and especially Stephen Weisberg, comforted me, not just with their expertise, but with their kind words and positive attitudes. And they did exactly what they claimed they could do. I no longer worry when a stranger knocks on my door or I get a phone call from a number I don't recognize. I don't hold my breath any more when I check my bank account praying that my meager funds haven't been seized. They battled for me and won, and I will be forever grateful. To anyone who has a problem with the IRS, who feels alone, who wants to be free from the anxiety, anguish and confusion that come from dealing with them and from owing increasingly large sums of money, I highly recommend Stephen Weisberg and the W Tax Group. Relief feels good.
