They do a really good batter with the fish and I think that's what makes it good. Service is always very prompt - when we ring in an order, it's always waiting for us when we arrive. Their hot chips are good quality and they always give us a generous portion. They do a range of Chinese food too here and it is also quite good - considerably better than some of the rival takeaways in the neighbourhood. The Roberts Road location of these shops is quite popular with people on the weekends but you can generally get a park. There's a good selection of eateries here (Dominos, a bakehouse, Thai etc) but I reckon Blue Lagoon is probably the best of them. Make sure, if you get fish and chips, you get snapper as it's the best quality.

Tony's Takeaways is your classic Chinese takeaway store. I went there for the first time last week…read moreand, as always, decided to test them by purchasing a spring roll. Spring rolls are the ultimate way to determine if a takeaway store is worth returning to, so naturally I had to get one at Tony's. And I admit, I was a little disappointed. Much to my surprise, the spring roll tasted like cinnamon. I couldn't really figure it out. It wasn't terrible as such, just unexpected.... That being said, the fried rice was brilliant. It wasn't oily and didn't make you feel guilty for eating most of the container - which I did. The portions were good and prices were what you'd expect - about $10 for fried rice. Tony's chips were also pretty good - crisp and crunchy; just the way I like them, and with a good amount of salt too. There's nothing worse than not enough salt on your hot chips, so while their spring rolls were a bit strange, you can rely on Tony's to supply good fried rice, sausages and chips. Bonus: Tony himself is pretty cool. He was very smiley and chatty and made the wait for the food fly by

Since I was in that neck of the woods for other reasons I allowed my rubber arm to be twisted. It is fried chicken after all, no waffles which gives it a black mark right off the bat. Now, to the chicken. I had one "original" recipe and I must say it is good, and the chicken itself is plump, moist and edible (unlike some, looking at you, KFC) and one the special-of-the-moment Garlic and herb crust which was nice but overpowering by the end. Would not get again as I liked the original. They are clean, quick and tasty and offer unusual specials like oreo biscuits (biscuits in the american sense) so I would come here if in the area and hope they expand city-ish soon!

However, if it's damn tasty Chinese food in massive portions for sweet bugger all money, then you've definitely come to the right place!! Judging by how full this place gets these days, word of mouth has spread - plenty of people are down for cheap and cheerful! Gather your friends or family, bring a bottle down (BYO only, no drinks menu - no corkage!!!), and get a few of the big dishes to share. Everything's great (and nothings more than $10-$15), but I recommend the salt and pepper squid, the beans, the satay beef (comes out sizzling!) and the sweet and sour pork. Awesome awesome place, just make sure you book ahead on a Fri/Sat night and don't expect great service or ambiance.

The bun broke in half when I lifted it up to revel the Old lettuce all brown and wilted. Brown old avocado. Cheap processed bacon ( the circle kind ). The Guy had a eftpos only sign up .I only had cash and asked him why. He replied that it will soon be a cashless society and we don't take cash. Seriously? What new business owner with an empty place would not want to take my money? In the end he very reluctantly took my money. Should have gone to Burger Fuel.

It's not even the closest takeaway shop to their house, it's just far better than the other one. I always judge takeaway shops on their chips and potato fritters. If you can't the chips right, you've failed, no matter how good any of your other food may be, in my honest opinion. Adriactic's chips are great. They are perfectly yellow, perfectly crunchy on the outside and nice and potatoey on the inside. They give you the perfect amount of salt, and they are never that greasy. Their fritters are good too, not too thick and not too much batter. I hate when there's too much potato and it isn't cooked inside, or when there is too much batter it's like a batter fritter, and you're left thinking 'where's the potato!'. Not a long wait time, and it's pretty cheap. Oh and their fish burgers are delicious as well.

The food is pretty authentically Thai alright but I find the whole experience of going there a little underwhelming. You don't mind cheap and cheerful but I firmly believe there's better places to eat in the peninsula - the Thai Peninsula nearby comes to mind. It's a little dearer but the food is of a much better quality. The portions are bigger too so eating there probably works as much value as this place. As regards the friendliness of the staff, they were polite but didn't go out of their way to ask how I was or anything. I think if I moved out of Te Atatu tomorrow, I would not be darkening the door of this joint again.

We're not exactly spoiled for choice for eateries in Te Atatu South but I usually venture further afield (eg to Lincoln Road) if I want takeaway on the weekend. Having said that, I went in and got a portion of hot chips not so long ago and I must say they were quite good. We could do with a good takeaway in the area but until that comes along we have to make do with this joint.

The only thing is that they are a tad bit expensive for a take away shop, and they've put their prices up a few times too. We turned up on Saturday to grab a quick meal on the way through. We were on a tight schedule, so rang ahead to order even though we were planning to eat in. A great move! We arrived to find the place PACKED. Seriously. With this is mind, I was impressed at both the staff and the food. It was amazing watching the staff work - a seriously well-oiled, quick-as team. The guy serving us actually managed to be quite friendly- probably more than I would have managed with that many people to deal with. The food was standard burger fuel quality - ie, much better than your standard burger, but not life changing. I was definitely expecting the burgers to be less well prepared than the normal BF burgers though, given how fast they were working, but was pleasantly surprised that the quality was as good as normal, and they managed not to stuff up the gluten free part of the meal. The wait between ringing to order and having our meals in front of us was probably only 25 minutes - pretty good considering the queues Also, I'm not sure if this is now standard BF practice (it wasn't the case at the Glenfield one I used to go to), but I do like the fact that this Burger Fuel serves your burgers on actual plates if you eat in, and has a liquor license, so if you want to feel a bit posh while eating your burger, you can order a glass of wine.
